We were on a cycling holiday across France and were a bit worried about the climb to Grasse but when we arrived found this treasure well worth the effort. It is a sympathetically renovated elegant villa, with spectacular views, managed by a friendly English speaking host with some great recommendations for local activities. We ended up staying an extra (third) night.

As a huge fan of scent and perfume, to celebrate my 30th this year my wife arranged a surprise visit for us to Grasse – the home of everything olfactory. She arranged a stay for 3 nights at La Rivolte and unbeknownst to me, had been liaising with Suzie about our trip some months prior to our arrival.

The week before we were due to leave England, my wife received a telephone call from Suzie to explain that due to a last minute and unforeseen emergency, she was not going to be around at all during our stay and as such, would have to cancel all bookings. All bookings that was, except ours… Suzie told my wife that she did not have the heart to cancel our booking at such late notice when my wife had been organising this trip for a good 3 or more months and as such, she would arrange for somebody to come and give us the keys to La Rivolte upon our arrival! She explained that we would have La Rivolte completely to ourselves and that we could stay in any room we wanted! We were simply blown away by her generosity.

We hired a car from the airport at Nice and drove to Grasse, which is about a 40 minute drive away. Using GPS, we navigated ourselves to La Rivolte without any problems. The driveway leading up to the house is an experience in itself - long, windy and very narrow road through dense trees! Hilarious, when you have never driven on the wrong side of a car before!! When you reach the house, the view on a clear day is sensational. La Rivolte is located on a steep hill so you can see for miles when it’s clear. It is also so quiet and peaceful with no noise at all from the road below. There was a gentleman there to greet us. He handed us the keys to the house and showed us around. Then, he simply left us to our devices. We were told that Suzie had even arranged to have somebody come to make us breakfast every morning! She had literally taken care of everything in her absence.

La Rivolte is a truly grand residence. There is a TV/family room (with British satellite channels), a drawing room with a well-stocked library, a computer area with internet access and a large open-plan kitchen/dining room - all on the ground floor. It genuinely feels like home. The gardens outside are on various levels and are just gorgeous. There is a decent-sized swimming pool on the lower level of the garden and outside the main entrance, there is a large outside dining area - ideal for dinners during warm and balmy evenings. Unfortunately for us, the weather for entire duration of our stay was rainy and cold. But this did not by any means ruin our enjoyment of this magnificent house. As we had a choice, we understandably decided to take the largest of the bedroom suites, Jasmin. A beautiful room with a large en-suite bathroom and even a private terrace! We can safely say however that all the rooms are lovely. We couldn’t believe we had the entire house to ourselves. And true to Suzie’s word, for every morning we were there, somebody was waiting in the kitchen at 9am to serve us croissants and pain au chocolat with fresh coffee, tea and a variety of juices.

The villa is about a 10 minute walk into Grasse town centre, where you will find the International Museum of Perfume, a must-see in Grasse. It is also in good proximity to all major tourist attractions in Grasse. The villa is also so well connected to the main roads that we found it to be a perfect location from which to base our stay in the South of France. The beautiful village of Valbonne is some 20 minutes away by car, and Cannes only 40 minutes away. We managed to drive around to see these all these places without any issue. There are many olive groves nearby, where you can buy fresh and specialist oils and Grasse town centre has a good range of restaurants should you wish to dine out.

We will never forget Suzie’s generosity and this holiday to mark my 30th will remain etched in our memories for a very long time, thanks to her. La Rivolte is the perfect location for any stay in Provence - whether you visit as a couple, or as a family. We loved it so much, we want to go back with a group of our friends in the future. Hope next time, we will be able to experience this wonderful place in the sun! My wife even forgot a dress in the wardrobe of our bedroom, and Suzie so kindly arranged for it to be returned it to her.

A sincere and heartfelt THANK YOU to Suzie, once again. We cannot tell you how much we appreciate your kindness. You made this trip for my 30th one of the most special holidays for us and one that we will never forget.

Vive La France, Vive La Rivolte!

Just spent a weeks golfing holiday with 11 of my friends and we stayed at LaRivolte. Wonderful Villa with great views overlooking Grasse down to the sea. Some of the bedrooms were a little bit small but the kitchen and lounges were great. Suzie was a wonderful host and as someone else said"nothing is too much trouble for her", she really made a difference to our stay.

La Rivolte is a beautiful house overlooking Grasse with views extending to the med. The rooms are great and simply but beautifully furnished. Suzie is a wonderful host, nothing is too much trouble and she is really helpful with suggestions for visits and recommednations for restaurants etc.
We only stayed for a long weekend but can't wait to go back later in the year when the pool will be running, and we can enjoy eating on the terrace in the evenings.

Room Tip: All the rooms have great views out over Grasse and beyond, Rose is especially pretty.

We booked three nights at La Rivolte for a short break and could not fault the quality of the accommodation, or the views across to the Mediterranean. Special mention to Suzie for the warmth of her welcome, her attention to detail and her high standards- she could not have been more helpful throughout our stay.

This is a beautiful old house which is within easy walking distance of the town, but it's location within it's large grounds creates a feeling of a country house. Three nights were not enough!

Room Tip: All the rooms seem to have good views.

My wife and I spent three nights at this charming villa and would like to have stayed longer. It is a spacious and delightful house in a wonderful location overlooking Grasse old town and within easy walking distance of the town and its restaurants. Our room was very well appointed and very comfortable with a view to Cannes and the sea beyond. Suzie was very welcoming and a great hostess who went out of her way to provide useful information and to answer our many questions.

Room Tip: For us, the Jasmine room with its enormous attached bathroom was ideal.

Whilst looking for wedding venues in Provence for the weekend, we needed somewhere to stay near Grasse and found La Rivolte. The beautiful villa is located up a private drive on the top of a hill with breath-taking views over Grasse out to the med, with the pool tucked down below. We were immediately made to feel tremendously welcome by Suzie, who was the most delightful host. The B&B is fantastic and Jasmine was one of the nicest rooms we have stayed in - rustic Provence, with an extremely comfy bed, and spectacular views. There is even a TV salon with SKY and whilst this sounds like a good thing, this was almost a disaster given that Match of the Day was about to start...(FYI, we did not watch it). Breakfast was served in the homely kitchen fresh croissants and homemade jams - just what we were after. Suzie went above and beyond trying to help with our wedding plans and we were very lucky to have found such a great place to stay at the last minute. We will definitely be coming back and recommending to our friends - but not too many of them!

Room Tip: Jasmine or Rose are both lovely! One on the front of the house preferred
