I picked the hotel based on its Tripadvisor rating. This is a very basic hotel with no public space. It was also quite hard to find. The rooms are basic, the bed reasonable, the pillows not so. There is no soap or shampoos and no tea or coffee despite a kettle being available. Towels are small and thin. Breakfast is taken outside and consists of a hot drink, juice, croissant and bread. It doesn't start till 8.30am which was later than we would have liked. Fortunately it didn't rain while we were eating! I can't imagine what we would have done if the weather was poor as there are no other facilities.
Despite all this, we had a lovely time. The owner is delightful and speaks good English. She was very helpful advising us on buses and trains. The location is good with the beach being just minutes away.
I think it is important to understand what you are getting. If you are prepared for the basic facilities, you can have a lovely time.

We spent 6 nights at the Mandara Beach mid May 2014 and found it to be an excellent location and value for a relaxing vacation on the French Riviera. The location works well whether you come by car or public transport. Parking is available at no additional charge. We had a rental car but opted to use a local bus (euro 1.5 stop 1 block away) to visit Cannes on the first day of the festival and also used a bus with return by train to spend a day in Nice. Everything you might want is a short walk away: the beach, boulangerie, supermarket, great restaurants, bus, train, plane connections for the cote d'azur and hill towns The ambiance of the hotel is very warm and friendly and the environment is clean, attractive and nicely updated. The owner is very charming and genuine. She makes it a priority to help you get the most out of your vacation by providing maps and helpful tips. Be sure to use the new outdoor terrasse for breakfast or for palm shaded afternoons with your favourite book and/or wine. We stayed in a standard double room on the second floor and found it to be a generous size and well laid out with a modern look. It had a small fridge, security box, large flat screen, wifi, plenty of closet and storage space, large shower/sink area and a separate toilet room. The room was quiet, very clean and the bed comfortable.
We have no hesitation in strongly recommending this hotel. The Mandara is listed on numerous booking sites but do yourself and this small independent owner a favour and use direct contact via mandarabeach.fr.

We stayed at the Mandara Beach for two nights in August 2013 having booked it in the UK a week before on Late rooms. We had two children 9 and 5 and were looking for a base around Juan les Pins as we had a hire car and could travel. We got the ground floor family room which was huge. Own double room, one room with twins, a modern bathroom and a lounge with dining room table and kitchen area including good size fridge. The spec of the accommodation was very good and I guess it had been renovated and updated within the last few years. The owner lives on the ground floor, speaks good English and is very friendly and most helpful. This accommodation was perfect for us to use as a base. However, the photo on Laterooms is taken pointing upwards and masks the fact that it has limited grounds. It is on a side road off main road and as mentioned in previous reviews, difficult to find. That's because the road it is on peters out into a path so when you approach it from the top you cannot access the road by car. In the end, I got out and walked and eventually found it and then tried to fathom out how to get the car to it via the small one way system. In the end, it's like the previous reviewers have said, approach from the promenade and look for the garage on the corner. Local shops 2 min. Don't expect any real amenities at the hotel apart from wifi as there are no communal areas, bar, breakfast or restaurant - this is more like a serviced apartment. Having said that, it's what we wanted and was good value for money and it was a clean, large and well equipped apartment ideal for a family.....just don't expect a hotel in the true sense of the word ie with communal areas. Also had modern aircon that worked well in all of the rooms. We will return as it was a good quality establishment. You could sit out on the private terrace but don't expect views, it's just a walled outside area at the end of the driveway.

Room Tip: Families should go for the biggest room with the private terrace

We are just back from a ten day stay at this hotel. It is truly wonderful. It is situated in a quiet little street just five mins walk from the beach and main promenade.Emma, the owner is a delight and did everything she could to ensure we had a wonderful stay. Our room/ apartment was on the rooftop and had a wonderful private balcony that was in full sun all day.It was spotless and cleaned to a ver high standard every day.
I highly recommend this little hotel and will be definitely making a return visit.

Ella, one of the owners, gave me a lift to the bike shop to pick up my bike. How good is that! This hotel was perfect - just far enough away from the noise to be tranquille, just close enough for an easy walk to the beach or restaurants.

The kitchenette facilities were great for small meals and the bathroom facilities were recently renewed. Everything was No1 !!

This is a great, value for money, relaxing, clean and well managed hotel. The hotel manager ensures everything is clean and is happy to help in any way. We had two rooms and a kitchen, which was ideal for us as our children are too old to stay in the room with us, but not teens that can be in their own room.
However one important point is the hotel is changing hands in one month and the staff were told they are being replaced. Great pity as they are what makes this place special. Lets see how ongoing reports are.

We stayed here for a couple of days in July 2010 at the end of a mini tour of the cote d'azur. My husband and our 2 children had a two room suite, and my parents had a one bedroom studio on the top floor. Mandara Beach offers excellent value for money. Clean spacious accommodation, with all you need for your holiday. Compact but chic and just a short stroll from the seafront in a nice quiet residential road. We had lovely full length french doors in our rooms and my parents had a small roof top terrace too. Breakfast is served in the courtyard and the croissants and pastries were freshly baked. Not too many rooms which makes it personal, and we will definitely stay longer next time.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms have access to their own terrace - think there are only 2 of them.
