“Very conveniently located, clean, and compact!”
Reviewed 22 November 2011 for a stay in September 2011

This condo is very nicely decorated and is extremely clean and comfortable. The kitchen is quite usable and we enjoyed being able to shop locally and cook our own meals. It would have been very nice if there had been a patio, but this unit is on the ground floor, facing the rear garage park so there's not "outdoor living" areas. Also, while we were there the air conditioning was not working and while it wasn't hot, it got very stuffy, but when we opened the windows (that had no screens) there were swarms of nasty little black mosquitoes--I went home with big welts all over my legs! If the air conditioning would have been working, this would have been a great place. I must say in all fairness to the owners, they are fine, honest people and this is a good place to stay--just not a great one, but the price is right! Also the property manager, Carrie, is fabulous! She was so helpful and friendly.

I was overall pleased with staying at this apartment complex rental this past summer. The price was one of the most convenient as compared to other rentals in the region, communication with the owner was very smooth and professional. However, as this is review, I must touch on some critical points. I found 2 things to be misleading from the advertisement, 1) is the location of apartment in the complex and the lack of a balcony, 2) is the lack of internet in the apartment. The apartment is located slightly below ground level (considering the complex is build on a hill, thus the ground floor at the front is much higher than the ground floor facing the parking area), this apartment being towards the parking lot, taking the stairs down from the main entrance of the building. The apartment is quite small, it looks like a studio converted into a 1 bedroom apartment. However, the size did not really bother us. We had a slight discomfort from the lack of ventilation, due to its location it is hard to ventilate, thus also very hard to dry beach towels, laundry, kitchen towels and difficult to get fresh air into the apartment. Unfortunately, there is a certain basement smell in the apartment, having to do equally with where it is located and the maintenance of the building as a whole and with the ventilation difficulty in the apartment itself. An improvement would be to at least have window screens against the mosquitoes at night, as windows must be kept open at all times to ventilate the place.
Nevertheless, it does offer a rather central location in Juan-les-Pins and therefore a 15 min walk to the train station, 5 min walk to beaches, 30 min walk to Antibes, thus it is a relatively convenient location. This implies that it is somewhat desirable to be in close proximity to Juan-les-Pins, the resort. Personally, I was negatively impressed with the resort town, extremely commercial resort, bad taste and atmosphere, and yet still too pricy to be a resort for "young people", as often advertised. The recommended Port Gallice public beach was very good, we were happy to go there almost every day. It was small, but still large enough, had a little food and drinks place as well, and nice variety of people on the beach including families, young and old, locals and tourists.
To conclude, the apartment had some shortcomings, but we coped with them during our stay. The resort was not to our liking, no French atmosphere, nor Mediterranean atmosphere ... local restaurants serve pizza and pasta and schnitzels (tourist traps). The public beach Port Gallice (due to its location at the end of Juan les Pins, closer to Cap d'Antibes was quite peaceful. Next time however, I would consider paying slightly more for the luxury of a balcony (essential in the summer for drying your towels, ventilation, patio) and even more so for a better location. It was a 1st time visit to the region, looking forward to discovering more authentic, unspoiled places in the Alpes-Maritimes region of France. Bonne journee !
