“Cheap but not at all cheerful...”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 May 2014

except for the staff who are the only good thing about the place.
Ok so the lunchtime buffet (there is no menu anyway) is just under 11 euros (but kids over 2 pay 9 euros even if they only have a sping roll) but it isn't even worth such a cheap price.
Cold starters buffet - open tins of vegetables still swimming in the liquid that preserves them, sushis that are just balls of rice and strangely oysters which I didn't dare to try
Warm starters buffet - a couple of things were ok like the samosas (but curried so actually Indian) and maybe the spring rolls. The chicken on sticks started off really well until you realize that they are totally uncooked in the middle. The steamed raviolis were just lumps of unidentifiable something or another, the shredded chicken was so hard that you could play ball with it, the spare rib pieces were lumps of fat with a nice sauce.
Main dishes - basically, the choice was salt and peppered seafood, salt and peppered prawns, salt and peppered fish, salt and peppered frogs legs - yes, everything in the same seasoning (I'd only recommend the prawns) and then 'spicey thai chicken' which was just watery chicken with no flavour and the 'chefs beef' which is how I imagine dirty socks would taste. Rice and noodles just about edible and that's all there is for the main courses
Desserts - can't go worng with the usual ice creams, nougat and tinned fruit

Huge place, had to wait for a table which made me think it must be really good but I couldn't have been more wrong - worst Chinese buffet I've ever had the misfortune to try.

“All you can eat asian fusion ”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 January 2014 via mobile

Walk in on NYE - 1st service, relaxed atmosphere, all you can eat food : fresh oysters, sushis, spring rolls and all sorts of mains and sides. Some things are good, some look and taste like it's been sitting there for too long... But you pay for what you get and for 15€ I found my way to the good stuff! Service is ok, you get what you ask for and tables are cleared regularly.

“Not to be missed!”

If you crave Asian food while visiting Cannes and its surroundings stop by "Le siècle d'or". For 16 euros you'll get classic Chinese dishes, a great assortment of fresh seafood and desserts. Although the hot dishes are good but not exceptional the raw seafood and sushi make up for the difference. The desserts display is delicious, fresh exotic fruits, cookies and ice creams. The service is very friendly and prompt. The decor opulent and similar to these huge restaurants you find in Asia. A great find at a great value.

“Five Stars”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 October 2013

Without any doubt this Chinese restaurant is the best value for money on the French Riviera. For less than 16 euros, the choice is amazing with oysters, sushi, prawns, as well as a wide selection of hot meals, from dim sum to duck! The food is fresh as the buffet is being replenished all the time as so many people eat here. No reservations are taken, just arrive early for a table.

“It's not all good, but you can pick the best stuff !”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2012

I am of Chinese origin, and I have been here twice. I am pretty picky about my food and some of the dishes are really very good. Super value for money at lunchtime. There is a limit of 3 oysters per customer, otherwise it's all you can eat.

For me the stand outs are the batter fried frogs legs and the sauted small shrimps. Very fresh, nicely cooked, and not at all greasy.

The selection of vegetables is poor but, to round off the meal there are lichees, and fresh melon so you will get enough vitamin C

Staff are friendly, place is always pretty packed
