All the rooms in Menton were booked weeks ahead except this hotel, so we did not have high expectation. It was worse. We paid the highest rates, all the rooms and bathrooms were not clean. There was no balcony (despite they confirmation earlier), and only after much request towards the end, we had one of the rooms with a balcony but it didn't have a blind or a shade, so it was burning hot in the sun, came with cheap broken dusty plastic furniture and useless anyway. The furniture and furnshing were all very dated - the brown worn blankets were smelly, the out of date bed covers had stains, the showers did not work properly and we had to squat to get rinsed! There was no facility and no service whatsoever, feel like staying in a youth hostel, not a 3-star hotel. Even its location, it is not close to the centre, it takes 20-min walk to get things. The breakfast is meagre, thin, poor quality. They also charged a lot PER HOUR for the internet, other hotels offer it for free. Stay somewhere else if you can!

Location of the hotel and the presence of a garage were the 2 reasons for us selecting this hotel. After locating from Google Earth and with the help of a GPS, we were able to find the hotel quite easy. Getting the car into the underground 2 levels garage... that was quite a thrill! I have a 4,57 m long car, ultrasound parking aid for reverse, and 19 years of driving experience - all those and a good dose of chance allowed us not to ad new marks on every corner that had already many scars from the close encounters with others less fortunate cars. It was the first time here and in the rest of the mountain roads in the region that I understood why can anybody buy a car like Smart! Beyond that, the hotel is clean, the room is big enough for 3 beds, our room had a nice view of the main street, the staff is friendly, english is spoken only by the staff from the reception desk (but it was enough), the room served breakfast was good and cheap. The beach is close and you can easily get to the villages in the mountains nearby or to the rest of the French or Italian Riviera.
The only real bad feeling was caused by the fact you have to pay for internet (7 euro for 1 hour, 5 euro for 30 min). After we left this hotel, we stayed in another in Lyon with free internet and in one in Paris with 10 euro for 3 hours of internet conection. It seems that the wind of change is blowing even in France.
The area is wonderful and we did not regret the choice we made!

We spent one night in this hotel as a stop off, Menton is a delightful place not yet affected by the glitz of MonteCarlo. The chambord hotel is steps from the casino and a short stroll from the beach and shops, no breakfast room but they offered a breakfast delivered to the room. (no need , plenty of restaurants and patissieres about. All the staff I met were very friendly and full of local advice. The rooms were spotless, although the decor is a little dated.
I would reccommend this hotel as a value for money stop off for a couple of nights

We'd want to go in this hotel next February 08, for fete du cotron. I contacted the property directly by email and staff told me there are free rooms. So, I wrote that I'd want to reserve and send fax with credit card data AROUND at 14 pm, 1 days later, beacuse there was christmas holiday .
Today i received an email from hotel staff and they told me that my reservation is expired because I didn't send them fax exactly at 14 pm, and it was 15 pm.
I called the hotel and staff told me that there weren't anymore available rooms, the hotel was full.
It's the first time that i find unhelpful staff.
I'm very, very sad for this inconvenience, because i can't have my holiday in Menton.

I suggest to go away from here!
Double room costc 115 euro per night, breakfast excluded. So, you can find better rate.
