Situated between Cannes and Antibes and 30 minutes from Nice, just at the entrance of the beautiful old little village is the MACM Musee d Art Classique de Mougins. You will discover how the beauty of the ancient world has influenced neoclassical, modern and contemporary art.
This museum's large collection of antiquities includes Greek, Roman and Egyptian pieces of art such as sculptures. paintings, drawings, jewellery, vases, mosaiques and coins. It is also exhibiting the world's largest private collection of ancient arms and armoury.
You also can admire many classical inspired paintings, drawings by prestigious artists such as Quinn, Picasso, Cezanne, Toulouse-Lautrec, Dufy, Chagall, Dali, Matisse, rodin, Wahrol. Hirst, Modigliani, Klein, Cocteau, Kalder....

Our Kingston based Art group all really enjoyed our tour of this unique, exquisite and quirky collection in the beautifully designed and curated museum.
Mougins with it's wonderful views and superb restaurants is a perfect spot for the Musee D’Art Classique de Mougins with its collection where classical and modern/classical are in discreetly lively dialogue. This and the Cocteau Museum Menton were the highlight of our super holiday I very much hope to visit again.

Impressive European Museum of the Year 2013 with interesting links to YBA's of the UK. The museum and the Museum of Photography in Mougins are well worth the visit.

What a wonderful new museum in the heights of Mougins. The juxtaposition of the old and the new works wonderfully and on occasion gives a shock to the system and who would have thought a display of soldiers helmets or ancient busts could be so interesting. Coupled with the works of Anthony Gormley (which hit you as soon as you set eyes on the outside), Dali, Picasso etc etc this place is a delight. Thank you Mark for the personal tour. Well worth the trip to Mougins where you can also enjoy the fantastic views and local hostelries.
