Our Kingston based Art group all really enjoyed our tour of this unique, exquisite and quirky collection in the beautifully designed and curated museum.
Mougins with it's wonderful views and superb restaurants is a perfect spot for the Musee D’Art Classique de Mougins with its collection where classical and modern/classical are in discreetly lively dialogue. This and the Cocteau Museum Menton were the highlight of our super holiday I very much hope to visit again.

Impressive European Museum of the Year 2013 with interesting links to YBA's of the UK. The museum and the Museum of Photography in Mougins are well worth the visit.

What a wonderful new museum in the heights of Mougins. The juxtaposition of the old and the new works wonderfully and on occasion gives a shock to the system and who would have thought a display of soldiers helmets or ancient busts could be so interesting. Coupled with the works of Anthony Gormley (which hit you as soon as you set eyes on the outside), Dali, Picasso etc etc this place is a delight. Thank you Mark for the personal tour. Well worth the trip to Mougins where you can also enjoy the fantastic views and local hostelries.

Chris Levett has certainly helped, in no mean way, to reinforce Mougins place on the global map with his unique Classic Arts Museum. In my book, no superlatives could rend enough justice to the collection of contemporary scuptures, paintings, drawings, vases, jewellery, coins and the world's largest collection of ancient weapons, armour and helmets.Busts of emperors, Olympian gods and goddesses and ancient Egyptian artefacts mingle with Calder, Chagall, Toulouse-Lautrec and Andy Warhol. Periods covered, B.C. to the 20thC.
Having spent two hours in the morning and only covered a small percentage of the content, I went and had a quick but delicious lunch at the nearby L'Amandier ( also restored and greatly improved by Mr Levett ) and returned in the afternoon for my ' dessert'. I still need another day to cover everything. Great staff present and I too, like Mr Levette, am now a happy (ier) man!
I'm now going to opt for a cooking school lesson at L'Amandier with Denis Fétisson in the morning followed by lunch ( must taste what I've just cooked) and finish up my day at the museum. Perfect!
