“Fascinating museum which will leave you wanting to know more!”
Reviewed 27 August 2014

This is absolutely my kind of museum, and as others have mentioned it is a really good size so it feels very manageable and you have time to read most of the information panels. The Venus vitrine in particular is a highlight. I've been to many museums in the world but never one like this before. We were staying about an hour away from Mougins, and it was absolutely worth the drive (and then have lunch in one of the many lovely restaurants there!).

Dear Rebecca
Many thanks for such an enthusiastic review, and for driving an hour to visit the museum!
Yes it is nice to make a day out of it. The village is so pretty with it's many restaurants to choose from for a pleasant lunch and the numerous art galleries and boutiques to discover as you take a stroll around the beautiful windy streets.
And of course your museum ticket is valid all day so you can always pop back in for another look - with such an eclectic collection there's always something you miss the first time round.
Best regards

“Great little museum”
Reviewed 15 August 2014

This museum centres on Ancient Greece and Rome, providing historical artefacts, famous modern art influenced by the period and interactive videos. The best thing is it's pretty small so it can be done within an hour.

Dear Connie,
Yes the good thing about the Musée d'Art classique de Mougins is you can spend the time you want, as you said, you can get a good visit in an hour but if you do want to spend more time studying the various aspects of the collection your ticket is valid all day so you can go and have a pleasant lunch in the Amandier restaurant or one of the many other great places in the village and come back to the museum later in the day!
Many thanks for posting your review - much appreciated.

“Excellent museum”
Reviewed 12 August 2014

One of the best museums we have visited - not so large that it is exhausting to see everything, but packed full of fascinating artifacts including egyptian, roman and greek objects that would not look out of place in a major national collection. Written descriptions and touch-screen guides provide comprehensive information in a choice of languages, and a lift runs between the floors. We spent a very enjoyable couple of hours in the museum before admiring the panoramic view from the town square - including the Alps Maritime in the distance. Plenty of free parking available just below the town, and the museum is well sign-posted.

“What a sweet little museum!”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

It's really a museum of classical art, as the name suggests -- Egyptian, Greek, Roman -- but they throw in a few modern works by the likes of Braque and Picasso (who spent time in Mougins). It's small and on three floors, and so they have to limit the number inside at any time. They have multilingual displays of how the Greek and Roman arms were used in battle, and most placards are in French and English. The museum is beautifully designed and executed; the building and the displays themselves are works of art. If you visit this lovely little town, do not miss this museum.
