My wife and I were spending our honeymoon in France, half in Nice and half in Paris, and we found this B&B via tripadvisor and we were not disappointed. Overall we were very happy with this B&B, and highly recommend it! We ended up picking the Longani Suite (beyond beautiful and clean!).
This is not your typical B&B that most Americans might expect with in-keepers on-site. The owners are not present. Everything is taken care of in advance and you are given an access code to the electronic doors and you simply show up, use the code, and go in your room. The process was pretty smooth. The B&B is on the 4th floor and there is no elevator. For those that have mobility problems please note that Europe starts the first floor on a “0” so it felt more like the 6th floor. This could be difficult if you aren’t able to lug your luggage up there. It is certainly doable if you are decent shape and don’t let the stairs scare you away as it is a great place.
Housekeeping does come daily, cleans up the room, makes the bed, and gives you fresh towels. The breakfast is very minimal by American standards but is a typical European breakfast. They set up a breakfast cart in the hallway with some bread options with butter, jam, etc, juice, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. Everything was always tasty.
One thing to keep in mind is that housekeeping seems to be an independent thing on a certain schedule so if you are going to sleep in or running late you might want to check with them in the morning. One morning we slept in and were taking our time and they knocked to tell us housekeeping was waiting and we were holding them up and we felt terrible. Generally I don’t think you’ll have an issue because I think you have until like 11am or so, maybe even later, but if you want to just lounge around and don’t need housekeeping then I would let someone know. The staff was very nice.
Ok, now the location. Honestly, I am not sure you can ask for a better, overall location. You are essentially right on the main drag, steps from old town (and arguably even in old town) but also steps from the beach. And much to our surprise, we didn’t find it loud at night either. We booked the Suite, which had a nice balcony, and that overlooked the street.
My wife and I rented a car for a couple days but don’t recommend it as it was difficult and expensive to park the car every day. Nice has great public transportation and unless you are going to a small town in the countryside the trams/trains seemed to run everywhere.
The bedroom has a HUGE clawfoot tub in the middle and a large king size bed, which is rare for Europe in my experience. The bed was comfortable but only about 12 inches off the ground, platform style. It was not at all problematic just a little.
The odd part of the room was the bathroom. Overall, there really aren’t any walls at all in the room, separating the sections. So the walk in shower, which is glass, is completely open to the rest of the room. Two sinks directly behind the shower were very nice and perfectly normal. The toilet was a bit odd though. It is enclosed by two walls and then a glass door, but the door does not go to the top of the walls and you honestly can’t shut the door when you are using the restroom…it just isn’t possible really. Both my wife and I are smaller people and we just couldn’t shut the door. In the end though we couldn’t figure out why the glass door was there as there was an opening at the top and it was see through. It is almost like using the restroom right in the middle of the room.
Other than that though the place really is outstanding and the location is hard to beat. The “no-inkeeper”/electronic access system really works good and someone is around every day during the breakfast hours for any help you might need. I found the booking process to be easy/efficient via just email/credit card and the owners were very prompt. The rooms are all very new, modern, and clean. You won't be disappointed!
