I had the pleasure of having one of the best meals in the south of France. The fish was superb and fresh and the best service.

“Soggy Pizza with Watery Hot "Oil"”
Reviewed 28 December 2013

Went there looking for something to snack on one Saturday night. Chose it because it had a wood burning pizza oven. Had three pizzas: Sicilian with anchovies and capers (my son’s choice - ugh), pepperoni and 4 seasons. They arrived looking like I expected, but they “sogged out immediately. Normally you have about ten minutes before they become soupy in the middle. Also, could have spent a bit more time in the over to brown the surface. Other than sogging out, they were as we expected.

They brought hot “oil” in a bottle of clear liquid with lots of red chilies inside. However, the liquid was water, not oil. And it wasn’t hot at all. Seemed very showy and touristy that.

Pizzas were about 13 euro each.

It was rather full compared to the other pizza places on the street and service was prompt and lively.

But, it was fuel, not food, and rather soggy at that. A disappointment. There must be better around. I should have checked it out first.

“OK but not the best in the area.”
Reviewed 12 October 2013

Situated on the main 'eating strip' in Nice this is a good place to people watch. The menu is very good, with a plat de jour also.Staff seem friendly and helpful.Seating arrangements are as you expect...basic in all respects.Prices are competitive.House wine is well priced, otherwise it is a little expensive. We visited twice...the first time was a far better experience than the second !!!! Lamb chops were the best....chicken,steak and mussels were nothing special. As we found out there are restaurants in the area which would get better comments.

“Nicely located”
Reviewed 10 October 2013

Located in the "rue pietonne" of the old Nice next to place Massena this restaurant is very busy.
Food is OK, our waiter was a funny guy, pleasant and joking most of the time. A fun place to watch people walking in the street at night. There are many restaurant like this one one the old town.

“A Special Pizza”
Reviewed 26 September 2013

We returned to Nice after an absence of twelve years. One of the things that we promised ourselves was that we would find the restaurant where we had enjoyed a pizza baked in a "feu de bois" oven. Eventually, after a bit of searching, we found O'Palermo only a little changed from our memory of it. We had a lunch consisting of minestrone soup and a wood fire baked pizza. Both were delicious and (for Nice) inexpensive. We would recommend the Sicilian pizza which does not have cheese but is a mixture of olives, tomato and anchovies. Take a seat inside with a view of the wood fired oven and watch the chef work his magic in constructing and baking his pizzas
