“Lovely Stay, Great Location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 August 2014

We stayed here for 3 nights and had a lovely stay. We arrived early in the morning and went to leave our bags at the hotel while we went out and about but were very pleased to find our room ready and were given access straight away. The room was a good size, we had a room facing the street but werent bothered by noise.
The hotel is in a great location, 5-10 minutes from the old town, 10 minutes from Promenade des Anglais and 15 minutes to the train station. We didnt have breakfast but the garden area is lovely. The hotel also do free tea/coffee and pastries in the afternoon. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

We were a party of 6 staying at Villa Victoria Hotel, we had all booked garden view rooms which are highly recommended. This hotel is charming with lovely gardens at the back where you can eat breakfast or just chill mid afternoon with a book or a drink. Staff are just lovely and willing to help with any queries you may have. Bedrooms spotless and cleaned daily with fresh towels, whole hotel is beautifully maintained. Breakfast was continental and couldn't find fault with it; breads, toast, cereals, cheeses and cold meats. Delicious array of pastries and flans and we found nothing was rushed like in some hotels, leisurely breakfast in gardens was most enjoyable. We thought it was a nice touch that hotel had coffee, iced tea and pastries available in afternoon too for guests. Lots of restaurants and bars within few yards of Villa Victoria, go down Rue Dalpozzo or other way onto Rue de France. Hotel was conveniently located but was in a lovely quiet location away from hustle and bustle. Special mention to Victoria the resident cat who kept us entertained in the gorgeous gardens.

Room Tip: Garden view rooms have windows that look out onto to the lovely gardens, would recommend these if yo...

This hotel is perfectly located - close to Promenade des Anglais (beach) 5-19 min walk, close to restaurants and shops (Place Massena 5 min walk) and close to the train station (10 min walk).
Room was a bit small, but for a solo traveller perfect and nicely furnished. The staff are all friendly, helpful and speak excellent English. The private garden at the back is lovely and a great place to start the day with a simple (but delicious) continental breakfast. Would definitely stay here again.

Upon arrival we had a friendly reception who spoke fantastic English (sorry I can't remember her name!) we had a go at some basic French which she probably found amusing! I haven't spoken French since my gcse days 20 plus years ago so was a bit rusty!
Anyway, the rooms were spacious and our luggage was taken to our room. Once we worked out how to unlock the door -just slightly different way by turning the key and pulling it then it clicks open (rm 301) we soon got the hang of it! Great view if the garden. Quiet too. Spacious and clean room. Fridge if you need one. We unpacked and the lounge downstairs offered us a coffee too. (We sat outside and had coffee just whilst our room was being sorted only for a few mins but we had arrived about midday. ) we ate breakfast here which is plentiful and is €15 each. Didn't try a cafe as we had a lie in for the 3 days we were here after a busy time at home! So didn't sample the cafés for breakfast. We walked everywhere as it is in such a great location and did the bus tours both in nice and Monte Carlo. Which is somewhere you have to visit!!! It's amazing!! €15.40 return for 2 from nice to Monaco. By 2 tiered trains too! You can't go to the platform untill 20 mins before departure when the platform number appears. You then have to activate ur ticket at the yellow machines before you go through to the platform so don't forget!! We ate lunch at the place garibaldi square which has loads of nice places to eat. Lots of italian influence. I'd definitely return!!

Hotel Villa Victoria is located in a terrific neighborhood a bit north of the Promenade des Anglais. It is a 5-10 minute walk to the Promenade and the main shopping areas, but just far enough from them to be not so touristy and crowded. It has a lot of vintage charm, pretty public areas, terrific private garden, and an engaging young staff.
We had a very large junior suite overlooking the garden, and while the room was sparsely furnished it was attractive and comfortable. It was useful to have a little fridge. Great bed. The breakfast is a very standard European cold buffet, a little pricey but nice, and you get to eat in the garden.
Other than this, the hotel offers few amenities. No restaurant or bar. No bellman to help with luggage. This suited us just fine, since we wanted to eat out in the wonderful restaurants Nice offers, and we can handle our luggage.
The only complaint I would make is about the bathroom, which was all too typical of what I find in Europe. A deep bathtub on a platform that you must climb into to get a shower (in this case, with a hand held shower); a hair dryer that was completely inadequate. Sorry to rant, but there are three ways a hair dryer can go wrong: by offering pitifully weak performance; by being attached to the wall with a short cord; and by requiring the user to pull a trigger and hold it down to make it run. Sadly the hairdryer at this hotel suffered from all three faults.
But it was a great value for the money and we would probably stay there again on a return to Nice.

Room Tip: Room #1 is roomy and overlooks the garden. We loved it.

Many good points - nice garden , friendly , helpful staff , excellent location, good breakfast. But what makes an hotel a 4 star? To me this is a B and B as it has no restaurant, no real bar (yes you can buy something from the fridge but there was never any atmosphere as nobody drank here in the evening.) I don't wish to down the place as the 4 stars may reflect that they are much better than the majority of hotels in Nice. But I could be picky about a small bathroom, a bathroom door which did not close properly - so if you went during the night, you felt you had woken up the building.Put on a proper door and put matching doors on the wardrobe - not a curtain. Then your room will look a whole lot better. A false fire alarm at 5.40 in the morning. If I was doing Nice again I would book a good B and B and save some money for eating out. I know city breaks are different but having done a few 4 stars in Spain, where you feel you have been to top hotel then this did not match up.We had half board 4 star for 70 euros more in an hotel with indoor / outdoor pool. fantastic seaview , good food, excellent bar and good entertainment.

Room Tip: Garden rooms are best - if you want to sit on balcony then floor 1 or 2.

Garden rooms are excellent, quiet sleeping with large open doors and if you are lucky there iseven a room with balcony available. Staff is very friendly and helpfull. In the late afternoon have a drink served in the large garden. Feels belle epoque everywhere; Nice at its best at affordable (at least for the local level) prices.
