“Great Location - shame there is nowhere to sit!!”
Reviewed 9 May 2011

Hotel could not be in a better position on the Promenade des Anglais. We had one of the rooms overlooking the sea with a balcony and the view was fantastic. Staff were very friendly and helpful. There is no Bar to sit and look out over the sea which is a shame so services were not what you might expect from a Hotel in this position. The rooms had jsut been refurbished I think in a modern if minimalist decor. Good double glazing meant you didn't hear too much from the traffic below on the Promenade. It was a bit pricey given that there were no public rooms but the Pound is weak afainst the Euro at the moment

This hotel is located on the corner of Promenade des Anglais and a sidestreet.
If you book a room with sea view, you have a great view across the promenade and the beach.
The rooms on the second floor are completely refurbished and are great !

In terms of access to the city, you can't be located any better.

We went to the Mercure Promenade des Anglais to meet a friend living in Nice. The hotel is very central, right by the pedestrian streets and Massena, and only 15-20 minutes from the airport (if traffic is good that is). We stayed in a room that had been completely refurbished and looked modern and clean. It was also pretty big compared to other hotels of the same category in Nice (and I am speaking of personal experience!). Plus the staff at the reception is very nice, helpful and smiling, which has definitely been appreciated! Although this hotel is a bit expensive, I would definitely recommend it to other travelers!

Where to start?? I stayed at Mercure Promenade des anglais from April 16-21, 2011 with a friend. When I first walked in, the staffer named Gilleta was very short bordeline rude and informed me that the room would not be ready till 12pm.. She had me store my luggages in a room.. There were no attendants to take our luggages. Once, we were assigned rooms, the location was on the 3rd floor.. THIS FLOOR smelled like sewage for sure.. n is in the back of the hotel... I went back to the front desk and found a girl named Stephanie who gave me a room on the 2nd floor which was modern and newly renovated. However, the room was tiny even by European standards with no lights.. Apparently, the lights bulbs needed to be changed, which she came back and did so herself.. Breakfast was uneventful, the regular boring scrambled eggs, tons of sweets... fruits. However, the absolutely amazing thing about this hotel is location.. It is in the middle of everything..
Honestly, i would not go back...

Room Tip: Rue Massena is a walking area for pedestriands.

A fantastic room in a basic hotel. The rooms with a Mediterranean view, which have apparently been totally renovated, are fantastic, as long as you like the colour purple! You can lie in the giant-sized bed and listen to the waves and the bathers shouting to one another in the sea. Sadly, this experience is a little spoilt by the roar of the traffic on the four lane road immediately below, when the balcony doors are open. This is common however, to all the hotels situated along the Promenade des Anglais, even the £2,500 a night Negresco.

We feel the room price is hefty, given that the hotel is only 3 star, but also feel it is worth the out of season price, when inclement weather may make the view well worth the extra cost. Overall we feel drawn back to the hotel, year after year, when originally we were only treating ourselves once for a special Anniversary.

Just got back from a wonderful 5 day stay at the Hotel Promenade des Anglais. The staff were so friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough. The hotel is centrally located on the sea front and a 5 minute walk into the centre of the city, Great restaurants nearby and cheap public transport to get around to other resorts.
For a large supplement, full front seaview rooms are available but side sea views are available on request at the standard tarrif - these are very good, quieter and still have a stunning view. All rooms are of generous size, well equipped and lovely new bathrooms.
Breakfast is buffet style - as much as you can eat, many tables overlook the sea.
All in all - great value for money!

Room Tip: Avoid the mini bar as the contents are pricey!
