“Wheelchair user review”
Reviewed 31 July 2014

We needed a hotel near the centre of Nice with wheelchair access as my wife has little walking capability due to MS. I push her in a conventional wheelchair just about all the time on holiday. This hotel fitted the bill quite well. We took a taxi from the airport for about 35 euros. Access to the hotel from the pavement was good. A lift serves all rooms. The room was big enough, though not spacious (the receptionist did ask us to report back if it wasn't adequate & she'd move us to something more suitable). Ideally we'd have liked a bath with better access. Half the bath side had a fixed shower screen so only half the side was available for access (other rooms may be different) so it was a little tricky at times giving assistance, particularly when getting in. The breakfast room does have 3 steps, which we negotiated easily. Taking breakfast on the terrace would have involved a 2nd flight of 3 steps so we avoided that. Breakfast can be taken in your room. All the staff were friendly and helpful (not just to us). The view from the room window was of the breakfast terrace. A fridge was available in the room which was useful both for medication & fruit and drinks bought from supermarkets next door and directly across the road.
We travelled to Monaco on the train, but wheelchair assistance from the team at the station was essential as a lift was out of commission & without it we wouldn’t have got onto the very crowded train (people are nice in Nice, though the mob who get on the trains are something else – they do become nice again once they are on though). We also took the bus up to the Musee Matisse, where no assistance was necessary. Most of the rest of the centre is pretty flat and negotiable with a wheelchair apart from the Vieux Nice peak, which we took the mini train from the promenade. We are pleased we chose this hotel.

Room Tip: 219 was good for us. Maybe avoid rooms on level 1 where the breakfast room is if you need a lie in.

Stayed at this hotel for a 'girls' weekend away in June. I would definitely recommend this hotel; it was in an ideal location in centre of town with shops, bars and beach minutes away. Took about 25 minutes from the airport and although there were plenty of taxis outside airport; we needed a small minibus for the group of us so better book ahead if you want larger vehicle. (Cost 50 euros for the minibus in the end). We had room 426 (4th/top floor) and it was wonderful, clean, quiet and a nice view over buildings and church. I wanted to bring the bed and pillow home with me as it was so comfortable!
People in hotel very friendly and I was pleasantly surprised at the breakfast; lovely scramble egg, toast, cereals, good coffee, croissant etc - excellent value for money.

We paid for beds on beach (pebbles a bit uncomfortable) but realised later that you get a discount if you book onto the section connected to hotel, so check with reception before you pay out for beach beds.

I had heard bad things about Nice (Dog mess everywhere) but I saw no more than you would in UK, in fact, I thought it was very clean and the parks were stunning with lovely fountains for children to play in. Beautiful buildings and the old town shops were great - shoes, shoes and more shoes!!!

We took the train (station about 30 mins walk from hotel) to Antibes (about 30 mins on train) worked out about 10 euros each although no-one ever asked/looked at our tickets there or back. Antibes has sandy beach and some lovely shops and markets.

Food very Italian (pasta and pizza everywhere) and a bit pricey - cheapest wine on menu was around 19 euros and in some 26 euros so cost of meal tended to be around 30 euros 1-2 courses plus drinks and tip)

Some shops open on Sundays but many closed so don't leave your shopping until then.

I would recommend Nice and would love to return and if I did, I would pick this hotel again!

Room Tip: Top floor was good (only one lift and it was a bit slow), we could still hear some noise (World Cup...

Small rooms and bathrooms, although tidy and clean. The reception convinced me to keep my room on the street, I was worried about the noise. Well, I was right, it is VERY noisy ....from the garbage truck at 5a.m. to people shouting at night, walking on the street. The delivery truck to the supermarket just in front of the hotel...
Breakfast is minimalist and if you one to enjoy it in the terrace, you will have to clean the table yourself before.
A big advantage is being close to the sea front, 5 min away from the tram stop....

This hotel was right off the Promenade and within minutes of the water at one half the price. Great breakfast, friendly service, and conveniently located. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Would stay again.

This hotel is located in a side street just off the main pedestrian area and one block back from the promenade & ocean front. The room was smallish but manageable. The staff at the hotel were helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. The hotel it is opposite a great boulangerie/patisserie - delicious. We thought this was an ideal location it was quiet but just around the corner from the action, it also represented good value for money compared to some of the other hotels in the area. Walking distance to all the sites we wanted to see, the old town the flower markets etc.. We found a great restaurant in the block behind the hotel in 1 Place Grimaldi, it is next to an Indian restaurant - sorry can't remember the name. The day we arrived the taxi drivers were on strike, so we had to walk to the hotel, it wasn't too far, luckily it was all down hill from the train station. We also used the tram while we were there to go to the train station as we went to Cannes and Monaco for day trips, the tram was pretty easy once we worked out how to buy a ticket, you can buy one ticket with 10 trips which can be shared between 2 people, you just insert it twice into the machine on the tram. When leaving Nice we caught the airport bus out the front of the Mercure on Promenade des Anglais, which was a five minute walk.

My vife and I stayed 5 days in Hotel Flore Nice with our son. The room was on 4th floor facing the street and the sun and we had an extra pull-out bed put in for our son (15) without an extra charge. Flore is a very cozy and kleen litle hotel with warm decroations and wall paintings which makes you feel at home and with a nice litle open air breakfast hall. Nice service and friendly people who make an effort of helping their visitors explore the surroundings made it a nice vacation in Nice! The only thing we could complain about is the very slow Elevator :). The location is perfect for bathing/strand visitors.

Room Tip: Face the street (and the sun) it is interesting to watch the night life. Don't worry about the h...
