“tiny room, good location”
Reviewed 24 March 2014

We were only here for a night which may have attributed to our small room, even the concierge bringing up our bags noted how small it was and that there was no space to move.

Beside the size, the bed was comfortable and bathroom/room all were in a very modern style (the floor of the bathroom seemed to be stones set in glass or plastic).

The location is great, one block from the main promenade and in the old city, surrounded by shops and cafes and near their little market.

Breakfast was nice, typical french buffet style.

Our one large complaint was noise. The airconditioning was not working (we think they hadn't switched over) but were happy to open a window for an ocean breeze. However, being near restaurants and on a main street you could hear everything on the street going on till 4am, which kept waking us up. Had we known that we would've inquired into air conditioning, and we know its not the hotel's fault and likely just the room position, but impt to note, try to get a room not facing the street and as high up as possible.

Room Tip: Get a room not facing the street as high up as possible to avoid street noise.

Dear Madam, Dear Sir,

We would like to thank you for posting your comments and are pleased to read that you appreciated the location of our hotel and the friendliness of our staff.

Provide a better soundproof quality is one of our major priority of the moment. The hotel has already invested in the windows replacement in order solve this problem.

Concerning your comment about room, for your next reservation please ask for a courtyard room they are more quiet and bigger.
Do not hesitate to ask more information at our reservation department, our staff will be happy to assist you.
Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience encountered your stay.
We hope to welcome you again at the Hotel Beau Rivage.

The hotel has been refurbished and the bedrooms are modern and well-decorated. We had a quiet, superior room overlooking the interior courtyard. The interior of the hotel is modern and attractive. It is very close to the sea front, and also to the No. 98 express bus from the airport, which is very convenient. Staff on the reception are very friendly and helpful. It is in an excellent location near the Old Town and many good restaurants.

Room Tip: Choose a room overlooking the interior courtyard and not the street at the front

The BR hotel is extremely well located, just one block from the beach and close to the center of Nice. Great area, full of restaurants and other venues for entertainment. The hotel is modern,y decorated and the rooms are quite spacious for French Standards. We were in a group and some who had rooms towards the front of the hotel, complained about noise. My room was very quiet, towards a side road. Breakfast is OK, standard continental breakfast. We were there for a meeting and this is where it did not go well. They have meeting rooms, but they do not have the people to provide for the proper support a meeting needs. In general, i got the feeling that the hotel is understaffed. Staff on site was very helpful and always with the right attitude.

I stayed at this hotel 10 years ago, and took my husband back recently as I remembered the location was very convenient.

I paid extra for a "superior" room, with a Nespresso machine as he likes a coffee as soon as he wakes up. We had to ask for the machine as it wasn't in the room and were given 3 capsules for a 3 night stay for 2 people?? If you want more, they cost 1 Euro each. That's a rip off. Not worth paying 20 Euros more a night to share one cup of free coffee each day costing 1 Euro. Also, these "better rooms" overlook "the courtyard". Not on the 3rd floor - you just see the wall/window opposite.

Also, if you get a room ending in 24, move. It's next to the very noisy lift. We moved rooms but they organised it very quickly. Huge bed, clean bedding, good bathroom and a good size room.

Generally, this is a nice looking hotel, helpful reception/room staff and great location. For us, it wasn't noisy but it is in a busy location. Also, bar staff are very, very slow. We ended up walking out, because he spent 20 minutes making 2 cocktails for some other people and just ignored everyone else. But some great bars and restaurants very near by.

Nice is a lovely place and this hotel is in an ideal location, but am sure there are other hotels where you could have a much better overall experience for the same price.

Room Tip: Don't get a room next to the lift.

Dear Guest,

It is with great interest that I read your detailed review of our hotel. We do take seriously into consideration all the comments made by our guests.

Our cocktails, are homemade and for this reason it takes some time. However, we deeply regret that you felt disappointed with the service

Provide a better soundproof quality is one of our major priority of the moment. The hotel has already invested in the windows replacement in order solve this problem.
We took your comments in consideration, concerning Nespresso machine and we are this way going to react.
We sincerely wish to avoid any doubt about the service the hotel can offer.

Best regards.

This hotel was great value given its location, close to the sea, the Old Town and the fabulous Flower Market and only a short walk to the main square and the big shops. Although the parking was off site and expensive, it was well organised and only a short walk form the hotel. All of the staff were helpful and kind. The room and the hotel generally was very clean.

+ Location was great. Right where you need to be to explore Nice. All within a short walk. Reception staff was great and rooms clean. We asked for a different room due to excessive noise and got relocated without any problems.

- The noisiest hotel ever! Old thin glass windows. First night was on the first floor, above some bar. You can hear pedestrians talking. Asked for another room and was arranged without any dramas. Even on the third floor the noise was excessive. All of Europe is noisy especially being in the mix of things. We're trough our forth month of traveling trough Europe and can confidently stand by the above. However, if you have and tolerate ear plugs, this shouldn't be a huge problem. The hotel needs to pay more attention to maintenance. -The toilet paper holder was hanging of the wall. Every day room service folds the corners at the end of the roll and must've notice it. -The hot tap handle not fixed and comes of at touch. -The towel rack/drying board was completely off the wall, just propped there, but obvious to the eye - leaning to one side. Management needs to pay more attention to maintenance if they insist to keep the four star status. I can only imagine this in a backpackers hostel, not a 4 star hotel. Breakfast way overpriced at 20 euro and coffee's not the best. Go out on the promenade (within 3-4 min walk) and get better value for your money.

Room Tip: Pack some ear plugs. Get breakfast out on the promenade. Ask to see room beforehand. First floor ro...

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. Its location was excellent, on the edge of the Old Town, round the corner from the Promenade des Anglais and 5 minutes walk from bars and restaurants. The hotel was clean, and the staff very helpful. It was so easy to get a bus from the airport straight to the hotel (well round the corner from the hotel) and it was only 6 euros. I can't comment on the breakfast as we used a restaurant round the corner, called Lou Nissart which did a fantastic croissant, orange juice and a coffee breakfast. I would definitely recommend this hotel and am definitely going back!
