We arrived in the middle of FIFA and the start of school holidays.
It was great to be back on French soil, we were greeted genuinely and all our questions were answered well. We had found previously in other countries staff were keen to tell us what they thought we should know. We loved the location and again easy access to transport and we travelled by train to Cannes for a day trip and did a tour of Monaco and Monte Carlo
Which were both fun. Last night in Nice we had dinner on the beach, l would skip this and possibly just have drinks with friends. There are numerous restaurants and street stalls close by. We did have noise issues even though France lost.
The room was bright and airy, the breakfast was good. A great place for lots of action, friendly people and plenty to do.

Arrived early, staff efficient and polite. Room was apparently being cleaned (more of that later).

Nice bathroom, very nice bed and pillows, tea and coffee etc. But, windows had only shutters, no curtains or blinds, so it was light early and noisy.

Worst of all the room was tired and dirty. I could write the word "DUST" on the window seat, the carpet had many cigarette burns and the bedside table was very scruffy.

Good location, but tired rooms. The website shows the beach, but it's over the road and 20 Euros each to use.

Had a 7 day stay in mid June 2014 as a couple.
Hotel has great historic links with artists and writers but no obvious evidence since hotel had makeover about ten years ago. The big attraction is its location ,short walk to pebbly beach and large long promenade and equally short walk to Place Massenna and main restaurants as well as flower market and Opera house. Reception area is modern and very business orientated, good ,polite staff. The Hotel offers free wifi in room and large LCD tv,good bright bathroom.Room a little dark and comparitively small despite being superior, wonder what standard was! Hotel has private section of beach, but despite preferential rates was 60 euros a day for a couple including loungers and a parasol and being in row nearest the sea.Ensure you have lightweight sea sandals (can get in local shops for 10 euros)as pebbles are ruthless on feet!Breakfast at Hotel is 20 euros a day each, local cafes offer coffee or tea, fruit juice and either pain au chocalat or croissant for 5,50 euros each person.

Big attractions include walking and using local public transport along coast either side of Nice, but beware of strikes. We walked up to Cimiez to see an art museum only to find it shut due to strike, nothing on website just a scribbled handwritten message outside building, train staff struck for four of seven day holiday, putting pressure on bus services.

Room Tip: Being well sited can be affected late at night by noise, ask for double glazed room with air conditio...

We have just got back this morning from a 3 night stay. Strange arrival as I had booked a room with twin beds specified as I was holidaying with a friend. When we arrived we found one huge double bed and one sofa with no more than a sheet over it to make it into a bed. It would have been far too hot as the sofa was covered by a wool felt cover and also was not comfortable. When I telephoned to enquire I was told we had been upgraded but there was nothing to be done about the bed situation. Our room was huge and quiet so we were happy to stay put, get 2 single duvets and share the bed as it was so big. However I expect others in our situation might have been annoyed. On the plus side the location cannot be beaten and reception and housekeeping were helpful and friendly. Surprisingly quiet for the centre of Nice. Our room was very clean and well appointed (other than bed-wise!). Despite the bed debacle I would return.

Solid hotel well placed near Vieux Nice. Rooms of a decent size, and the hotel does things like wifi and electric sockets well (Odd how few hotels have worked out that guests need to recharge kit). Breakfast is standard buffet; only one quibble: why has the quality of croissants in French hotels deteriorated so badly?

Decent hotel close to the beach but without any sea views. With warm temperatures windows cannot be left open due to street noise. Beds are good, breakfast is standard. Not really a four star hotel. Service is decent but also not really standing out. Next time I will go to Nice I will look into other options.
No pool! Private beach but access needs to be paid for.

The location of the hotel is spot on! Close to all amenities - shops, markets, restaurants, beach etc. Hotel itself is nothing spectacular. Average room. Would have liked tea/coffee making equipment in the room. Staff were surly bordering on rude.

Having a private beach was one thing we were especially looking forward to. This turned out to be very disappointing. Non hotel guests were also able to use the ‘private beach’ for the same price. The only benefit we had was not having to pay for the use of a beach towel (this was probably to stop guests from taking hotel towels down to the beach). Sunbeds were very close together to the point you were actually touching elbows with the person next to you. Sunbeds are in rows facing the sea and you are unable to move them to follow the course of the sun. 20 euros each for a sunbed per day (25 euros if you want the ‘front row’) plus 4 euros for the hire of the sun umbrella certainly added to the price of the holiday. Beware – reception were quite willing to take our money for the hire of sunbeds at 3pm even though the beach facilities closed at four!

Checkout is by 12 noon. As we had a late flight we wanted to spend the last day on the beach. We were able to leave our cases behind reception but no courtesy rooms were available to get changed in. Reception staff informed us we could use the disable toilet. Would have thought better from a four star hotel.

Overall: great location, average hotel, very poor customer service

Dear Guest,

Thank you for sharing your impressions.

At hotel Beau Rivage we do provide tea/coffee facilities in our rooms except in the "classic" and "superior rooms".

Regarding your experience in the beach area we sincerely apologise if the term "private" caused a confusion. Our beach is open all along the year to every customers for drinks, lunch, dinner & brunch. There is no fee for the entrance at the beach, only a fee for using the sunbeds in summer.

To make a special attention to the Hotels' guests we provide a special offer with an advantageous daily rate. Even if at this moment of the year the hotel and the Beach club are busy, on request and if possible, we can offer a late check out for the room. Indeed we do not provide a courtesy room at the hotel, only washing rooms, still big enough to fit suitcases and equipped with pegs for the clothes, however at the beach club we provide changing rooms with showers and lockers.

We feel sorry that in spite of all this we haven't been able to fulfil your expectations.

Best regards
