“Good location, great value for money”
Reviewed 26 September 2010

The hotel's located a stone's throw from the Nice Ville station (the main one in Nice), and for those with a lot of luggage (like us), this is very convenient. However, in order to get to the beach or the old city, you will have to walk for about 5 mins and take a tram. There's no direct bus, and this was quite inconvenient.

The hotel, like most other Accor hotels was a basic one - compact room, small bathroom (with no lock), but was very neat and clean. For a budget hotel, we found it very convenient. The front desk staff spoke good English and were courteous and helpful. The breakfast was basic, but nice. Free WiFi internet was a pleasant surprise. They even had a swimming pool - we didn't use it though. Overall, great value for money.

This hotel was a good place for us to stay before taking our day trip to Monaco, we were not too impressed of its surroundings but the hotel itself was comfortable.

Pros: Rooms are a good size and very comfortable, kept clean. All the other hotels we stayed on our trip had inadequate lifts, we were fortunate this one had 2/3 working lifts, helped with all the luggage we had. Was close to the TGV station, walking distance. Bus and trams nearby which we paid 1Euro to goto Monaco. There was a pool the kids could take a dip in.

Cons: Food was good, but the staff in the restaurant were inexperienced, two of them it was the first week on the job, so not much of a con but worth noting. There were some sex shops nearby and seemed unsafe at night, not many restaurants within walking distance, good to get a taxi if possible to a better part of town if you do not want to eat in the hotel restaurant.

Verdict: Stay there if you want to be near the train station or want to goto Monaco. It is comfortable bu not the surroundings.

The only good thing about this hotel is the location, next to the nice railway station. The location saves a lot of traveling time. But the hotel is not that spacious from inside. The rooms are really small with very little space.Bathroom was also very small. The breakfast was not appealing, had little variety.Good for the kind of tourist who is tight on budget and wont like to spend too much time in hotel since commuting is a lot easier from here. However certainly not recommended for those who are used to staying in large spacious rooms and are claustrophobic. They promote their swimming pool which is really small and lack in proper amenities. Also the free internet on offer is just for 15 mins and that too only 2 computers for the entire hotel, of which one was not working when we stayed there. So don't get fascinated by these two features.Go only if tight on budget and looking for perfect location and would spend less time in the hotel.

The Ibis hotel is well-located, close to the train station. The area might seem dodgy, but we didnt ecnounter any problems by just following basic rules of safety.
It's been newly renovated, so the rooms are quite the standardly decorated Ibis rooms. Very basic, no fuss. the price is correct as well.
The breakfast was not great, actually we decided to cancel it after having it once. there were no fresh fruits, the fruits were frozen, and it didnt have any varied options apart from sweet pastries.
The pool was abondened and in a bad shape. no wonder no one is there at all.
Overall, it was a good stay for a reasonably priced hotel.

Nice hotel overall. Right next to station. You can even hear the announcement chimes (especially when you're trying to sleep). But that may be only for rooms on the station side. You could probably ask for a different one.

Simple bed. They did give us extra pillows when we asked, which was appreciated. Tiny bathroom. Worst shower I've used in a long time. It's small anyway, but when you close the shower curtain it cuts the space in half. I'm quite a small person and even I found it difficult to use. The shower curtain clings to you the whole time. Horrible water pressure! Takes a lot longer to rinse hair because of this. No shelf in the shower at all. No hand-towels in the bathroom. Even an Etap that we stayed in recently had hand-towels, but an ibis can't? Also, no exhaust fan in the bathroom.

Upside to the hotel is that it is one proper bed in the room, rather than two pushed together. Fantastic air conditioning! The staff are polite. Free wifi, although it's impossible to use skype, as they've blocked it, also you have to go and get a new login code every day. They also limit downloads.

Good that it has a pool. Especially for when you return from the beach. They even give you separate pool towels to use. However, stupidly the pool is only open until 8pm. I cannot understand their reasoning for this. It's the earliest I've ever seen a hotel pool close.

Good food. Arrived late, so it was easiest to just go down to the hotel restaurant for dinner. Frozen pasta... but ended up tasting quite good. Breakfast was also nice, including cereal, ham, cheese, croissants, crepes, etc.

The location is fantastic if you're planning on doing a bunch of day trips, as the station is obviously so close... but the location is not as good for exploring Nice itself. 20 min walk to the beach. Further to the major sights.

When searching for a place to stay in Nice for a few nights, this one seemed to fit the criteria. As stated in previous reviews, a 4 euro bus trip will take you directly to the hotel from the airport and then you can use the same ticket for any further bus/tram travel for the remainder of the day.

We were given a room on the southern side, 8th floor, which gave us nice views of the rooftops and then the coast. Some previous reviews were concerned about having sex shops in close proximity and seedy type people hanging about at night. We didn't experience any problems of that nature and the sex shops are that only, not nightclubs with a sexual theme.

Caught a train from the adjacent train station to Monte Carlo for just over 6 euro return each and by having that mode of transport nearby it was very convenient. It is a pleasant walk to the beach from the hotel, down the main street with lots of shops to occupy your mind.

The hotel was very clean and staff extremely friendly and always willing to help. The breakfast was self serve and plenty on offer. For the price and convenience I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Nice. Great for a 3 star hotel.

The hotel is located right next to main station and the neighbourhood is accordingly. It's a rather big hotel with many international guests checking in and out so a lot of things happen, if you just sit at the bar and relax. Not sure if they will continue to do so, but the free internet was excellent value and for EUR 99.00 the night and the central location and just being in chici-mici Nice was alright. The rooms are rather small but o.k., the television was good (LCD). If you check out before 10.00 a.m. you can profit from a reduced fare for your care in the connected parking garage which also quite neat (I think we only paid EUR 8.00). All in all a good hub for seeking adventures in Nice and the service is really nice.
