Best Western Hotel Roosevelt

We stayed for 6 nights at the end of May. It was centrally located- about 10-15 minutes walk from the Nice Ville train station and the same amount of time to walk to the Promenade des Anglais.

I have had pleasant stays at Best Western hotels over the years, and this one was no exception for this hotel category. The staff was friendly and helpful in answering questions. The clean, updated and well maintained room was a good size. It was stocked with complimentary bottles of water, Nespresso pods and crackers.

The only minor drawback was the small elevator that could barely hold two adults and two medium size luggage.

Location is very good only a few blocks from light rail (tram).
Walking distance from most sites.
The breakfast was perfect for us with a variety of fresh fruit, cheese, yogurt, breads consistently and promptly refilled.
The Staff was very helpful and welcoming.
BIG issue: refurbished bathroom requires you to "mount" the toilet to use it. Very annoying and with a little more thought totally unnecessary.
A major irritant to a great stay.
As usual TV only in French.

We made a reservation for this hotel in due time.
In our reservation clearly stated, and RESERVED, a Parking space for our car at the public parking next door, at Hotel's reduced price.
At arrival, in the check-in procedures, we were informed that all the cards for the parking were given out and ours was not avalilable due to overbooking (?).
Please note that check-in starts at 14:00 and we were there already around 13:30!
So we had to park our car at the Parking lot regular price, which is almost 40% more.
But, worse to it (!)... just to add insult to injury, when checking out they asked us to pay for the parking card they never gave us!!
So not only we discovered that the parking card was available at our arrival for us, since it was reserved, but also that we paid uselessly extra money for our parking only because the Receptionist at the counter didn't properly checked our reservation at check-in.
The location is abolutely fine, and the rooms are at very good standard consodered the price, but service is... absolutely unforgivable.
We would expect that when checking out, since the girl at the reception was the same at check-in as for the check-out and she made the mistake, they would have proposed us a discount on the bill for the same amount we paid extra for the parking.
It is only a few euros, but for the principle of it, those few euros would have been worth, for them, 3 or 4 extra points in this review.

Room Tip: We wouldn't go back, so we do not reccomend to go there.

Stayed here over the Monaco formula1 grandprix.
The location is great, close to both the train station (for going to Monaco)
And the city center. The rooms were quite small but comfortable.
The elevator is extremely small (maximum 2 normal sized people).
The breakfast was a nice mixture of could and warm but alas no bacon!!

The staff was friendly and avsked if they wanted us to book a taxi back to the airport which we agreed too, although this taxi never showed up and the staff was quite nonchalant about it. Good thing we had enough time to arrange new transport to the airport ourselves.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights to celebrate his 40th birthday and attend the Monaco Grand Prix. We had a corner room which I think was larger then the standard room and had 3 beds. The decor was simple and stylish, I think the whole hotel had been re decorated. All the furniture and fixtures were excellent. The staff were always friendly and helpful and had good knowledge of the area. The hotel breakfast was a good mixture of hot and cold options. You never had to wait for a free table in the morning. The hotel also had free wifi for you to use. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay and I would defiantly recommend this hotel again. It was also only 10 minutes walk from the station and old town/beach.

The Best Western Hotel Roosevelt has an excellent location just two blocks off Place Massena. It's very close to the tram line, near some of the best shopping streets in Nice and a ten minute walk from the Old City. The reception area is very small, but the staff is very accommodating.

This is all good, but there is some less good to go with it: the rooms are tiny, even by French standards. For the price, they are not a good value - towels are thin and there is very little room to maneuver around the bed. My double room was barely big enough for one and seriously cramped for two (and it was not the "entry level" double either). The worst element of the stay though is a small but very annoying issue: the single elevator can hold only one person and one suitcase, no more. If you are traveling light, this won't be a problem, but if you are in Nice for a couple of days before a cruise, say, or at the end of a week or longer trip around France and you have two or three bags per person, you'll need to make several trips on the elevator. After traveling a long distance, this relatively small thing is a major annoyance.

Another small annoyance that may or may not matter to you - the wireless internet is very slow. It's included with the room but it works at a slow pace and requires frequent logins. I note some visitors had problems with the A/C - that wasn't an issue I encountered. The system worked fine in my room.

Overall, while I liked the staff this isn't a hotel I'll return to.

Friendly staff way different than for example Paris. Great breakfast with fresh cheese and juice, 12 euro's is worth it. Location is also great, iTS bear the main street, near the main square. Only downside is that the room was small and the walls are thin.
