Basic, clean, friendly, great location

Review of Hotel Boreal
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 16 Apr 2017via mobile
This hotel has a great location right in the centre of Nice. Easy to get to: bus 99 from airport (€6) to the train station, then it's a straight 10 min walk from the station to the hotel. Reception desk is manned 24/7 so easy to check in/out.

The hotel is situated amongst the main high street shopping area, 10-15 min walk to the beach or the Old Town (best place for bars and restaurants).

The hotel it's self was basic, but had a comfy bed, good shower, and nice friendly staff. Staff were English speaking and very helpful with all enquiries, even lending us an adapted plug when we forgot ours.

Close to the very centre of the city but without the crazy cost of the parking ( the price is less or, if you are lucky you get free street parking).
Sergey, the guy at the reception, is really nice and willing to give you advise to what to do in the city.
The room we stayed on was a bit small but perfect for a young couple like us that needed just to sleep.
Good quality-price!

Excellent central location. Great room rates for time of year. 7 minutes from station (and airport coach). 1 minute from tram and high street leading to Promenade Anglaise. Staff all extremely friendly and helpful. Bedroom very clean with full bathroom and lots hot water after a long day exploring. housekeeping every day so clean towels! Tea & coffee facilities, free Wifi. Train a short walk away, cheap fares and easy to get to Antibes, Cannes and Montecarlo (both within 1/2 hour train ride). Eat breakfast out, plenty of places - Starbucks in the Mall across the road if you need a larger latte! Tip - we took the train back to the airport, it was one stop (Nice Augustus) cost 1.5€! Then an 8 - 10 minute walk thereafter. Easy. A tip on arrival - walk out of airport and straight to the main highway. Local bus no. 52 takes you straight to Promenade Anglaise in about 15 mins all for 1.5€. Avoid taxi €38 and long, long queue to buy shuttle coach tickets for €6. Enjoy Nice! Great short stay.

Room tip: I think all rooms have full bathrooms, but do check if you like a soak after a long day!

Stayed here with my adult daughter, whilst travelling through Europe. I have stayed in Nice several times and this was the first visit to Hotel Boreal. The location in perfect not too close to the busy centre but near enough for you to be able to walk to shops/bars/beach/restaurants. We stayed on a bed only basis and so spent very limited time in the hotel, choosing to eat breakfast at nearby cafes. As a midrange hotel goes it ticks all the boxes quite basic but pretty much does on the tin, lacked atmosphere for me and was pleased that we had decided to stay on a bed not basis. Would probably look elsewhere if returning to Nice again.

Small room. Clean and efficient. Great for being right in the center of town. Near restaurants, shopping etc.. beach is 10 minutes away. Pleasant and helpful at the desk, very small elevator but not unusual in France.

Room tip: Depends on what you want. I wanted a room with view on the street which I got. A bit more noisy but I enjoy checking what's going on..

We stayed here recently for the 2nd time, both trips were organised by Rail Discoveries. This hotel is superbly run by friendly staff, it is spotlessly clean and rooms are well appointed. We once again had a room on floor 3 and overlooked the street. Noise is minimal. As many reviewers have already said, the position is central to all main transport and tourist attractions, all being with about a 10minute walk. The purpose of this visit was to attend the Nice Flower Festival, Evening Illuminated Carnival and also the Menton Lemon Festival. All these were brilliant, helped by fantastic weather and the hotel being so convenient. Breakfast is held in a room with interesting ceiling and consists of a good choice and quality of items. Would recommend this hotel to everyone
