“Great location for exploring”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 March 2013

The location was great, the breakfast was average. Our room had no windows you could actually look out of, and no curtains because we were on the top floor.
But at least the wifi worked in the reception area.

Beautiful lobby with large rooms and bathrooms.

Unfortunately, the stay was less than pleasant. The hallways were dingy and dark and reeked of marijuana.

Breakfast was adequate though the breakfast facilities were not equipped to handle all the guests in the hotel.

Wifi was only available in the lobby.

Travelled with a Topdeck group, hotel required a deposit from each guest, we did not get our deposit back for reasons that are still entirely unclear.

Location is okay. It is centrally located, so exploring Nice is easy. The street itself is a bit sketchy but I had no issues when out and about alone.

Our rooms were on the top floor of the hotel. We had four people in our room but lucked into a four person room, which was awesome for the extra space. Skylights in the room with a view out onto the street. Bathroom was beautiful. Only trouble with the room was that I had to watch my head with the walls slanting where the beds were! Would so stay again, the breakfast area was nice and lots of selection.

Room Tip: The top floor rooms were fantastic

I booked to stay 7 nights, but I left the next morning as I had a charming 'visit' from a mouse. I immediately reported it and they changed me to the 4th floor. I left early in the morning next day. Didnt even touch their breakfast. Before I left they said that they called a specialist to deal with the issue. 40 euro/night is not worth the visit IMHO. The staff was helpful and the area is not the nicest of the city. Some people might find it a bit noisy, but that didn't bother me.

Room Tip: Dont go to the first floor. Its next to the breakfast area and you might have unexpected visits :)

We arrived to see two people behind the counter finish their conversation before acknowledging us, not a good start. Got to our room which seemed small but OK until we opened the window and our view of the roof of the shop below covered with cigarette butts and a g-string. As we were leaving early, we went to breakfast at 7.02am (apparently it started at 7) and found every table covered with dirty dishes, not a lot of food left and no staff to be seen. Granted it is close to the main train station, which is why we chose it but, never again.

For a 2 star hotel this hotel has some very good points such as nearby bus stop to the airport (Number 99 bus,4 euros one way), and the train station across the road giving access to Cannes and Monaco etc.The reception staff were quite helpful on arrival and the reception area itself looked pleasant enough. We were given a room on the 4th floor I had requested a quiet room and I suppose this was the best they could offer considering the mayhem of noise outside of the hotel. All manner of transport arrive and leave from this location The noise of the trains, the trams, the buses and the constant honking of horns from cars were continuous. What I did not realise when making the booking was that this seemed to be in an area were a lot of locals hang out especially at night in groups and this street was not the nicest visually. On the other hand around the corner was Rue Jean Medicin a main shopping area with good shops if you follow this it will lead to a main square and then to the beach.
The room was quite large with modern furniture and the bathroom was adequate plenty of hot water.Air con was invaluable as the weather was tremendously hot and when we closed the windows the sound from outside was reduced a lot.Breakfast consisted of cereals, bread buns, croissants, ham, cheese, yoghurts and fruit and drinks in the breakfast room, not bad at all.

Our first visit to France and very excited! Our first night in Nice, De Berne Hotel! How disappointed". Aircon in room did not work, the shower out of order, bedding old. Not nice view.
WILL NEVER EVER STAY THERE AGAIN!!

Room Tip: Dont know how the other rooms look like, we have only seen 2 of them
