Cheap - yes! We stayed four nights and it didn't break the bank.

Three things we couldn't take:

1. The breakfast is just too bad. Hard baguette, no cheese, cheap coffee machine, old cereals. Better not bother with free breakfast and just charge a breakfast we could actually eat.

2. We found a cockroach in the very small rooms. We booked two rooms for the family.

3. The cleaners speak English and they told us to keep our kids from not messing up. We met them late afternoon as they are not done cleaning the rooms (yes, they clean so late and so slow!)

We definitely got what we paid for and what we didn't pay for.

We wanted a place to stay in Nice that was cheap and cheerful yet clean and convenient and this is exactly what we got. We stayed here for 7 nights and were more than satisfied with our stay.

The rooms were clean and fairly spacious with a TV. One of our rooms (we had two for our party) had a small balcony overlooking the street. The rooms were cleaned daily and to a high standard.

The bathroom was small but clean and adequate. There was a wall mounted hair dryer in the bathroom but it wasn't very powerful. Although it would dry your hair, it would be useless for blow dry styling. To that end ladies, if you want to blow dry your hair properly into a style I would recommend you bring you own hair dryer and mirror. I suggest bringing your own mirror because there is only one plug socket in the room and I doubt the hair dryer's lead would stretch far enough to use the bathroom mirror.

The staff were friendly and helpful, we had no problems.

Breakfast (optional extra) was a croissant and a small baguette per person. There was also Coco Pops, milk, tea, coffee, water, orange juice, butter, jam and marmalade available, you can help yourself to as much as you like of these.

The hotel's location was very convenient, a stone's throw away from the main shopping area and Nice Ville train station. We went to Cannes and Monaco on the train, very easy. There are many restaurants close to the hotel so finding somewhere to eat was never a problem. If you get really desperate, the hotel lobby has a vending machine selling sweets and drinks.

Free Wifi is available but the best place to get it seems to be in the lobby rather than the rooms as most evenings people were sat in the lobby using their devices.

Remember, this is a budget hotel, not a 5 star hotel. You get what you pay for. If you want to stay in luxurious, salubrious surroundings with 24 hour room service and concierge service then you need to drastically increase your budget and stay elsewhere. However, if you want clean accommodation in a convenient location for a very reasonable price then you wouldn't go far wrong by booking this hotel. I'm awarding this hotel 5 stars because it met our expectations, we had no problems whatsoever and we would be happy to stay here again.

This hotel was fine for a night's rest. Compact but excellent value for money.

Three minutes walk from Nice Ville station (so great for train or air arrivals - the easy train transit from airport via Nice St Augustin station is under-publicised).
Clean; friendly staff; medium sized wardrobe with hangers; lift that works.
Small bedroom, small bathroom, some 'drain smell' in the bathroom.

So what's unusual ?

Big plus (and unusual for the price of room): My top floor room (404) had a small private balcony with chair and great view of .. the sky. (Not sure about rooms on lower floors).
Small room irritation: When sitting on the toilet your knees are splayed wide apart and still both touching the wall in front of you.

I would recommend - the general friendliness and balcony outweigh the roomsize and bathroom.

(Breakfast offered - didn't try)

Room Tip: Som rooms have balconies.

When we arrived at the hotel, the receptionist was having a conversation with another staff member and outright ignored us for a few minutes. We had to pay before seeing the room and in the ten seconds it took my friend to get the money out her purse, he'd turned back to the other guy and left her waving money in thin air. The room itself was quite small, but not ridiculously so. It was reasonably clean, most importantly (for me anyway!) the bedsheets were clean. When we arrived it smelt lovely of cleaner but we went out and by the time we came back it smelt quite bad, a really awful smell coming up from the drains I think. We could hear noises from other rooms perfectly though the beds were so comfy I still had a good sleep anyway, depends on your tolerance I suppose. Other than the first meeting with the receptionist, most of the staff were perfectly nice, not particularly helpful but they did humour me when I tried to speak French which was polite of them. They also let us keep our suitcases in the storage area for free for a few hours on our last day which was appreciated.
Our room's view was pretty bad - a roof covered in bird droppings complete with the resident pigeons cooing outside the window.

The location is very good though, a couple of minutes' walk from the Nice Ville station. A few reviews have mentioned the location being a little dodgy but I thought it was quite nice to be honest. It's a perfect base for travelling, only a few hours from where I live in Italy and hardly any effort at all to visit Monaco or go to Ventimiglia. Basically I would recommend staying here if you're on a very tight budget, as it was very cheap, but don't expect anything special!

This hotel was everything that I expected accept the room was larger. Clean basic rooms and friendly staff. Breakfast was OK - nothing special. Could have done with more power points in the room - ours only had one. Great position next to the railway station and the tram.

We stayed here end oct 2012 for 4 nights. We were very happy with our choice. The room was basic (what you'd expect form the price) but clean and a very comfy bed. Perfectly good clean en-suite. The room was cleaned and fresh towells every day. Staff very friendly and helpful, good english. The breakfast was a croissant and bread with jam etc and as much juice/coffee/tea as you could drink. Excellent location, very close to the train station and 15 min walk to the front/ flower market etc. On the first night I got bitten (I recalled one reviewers claim of bed-bugs!!) but it was a mosquito, we had the window open, so we slept with it closed after that and no more problems! So don't worry, there are no bed-bugs- I did think it strange that the man that wrote that said his wife had been bitten, not him, I don't think bugs are fussy like mozzies are!!!!!
I would def recommend and stay here again, really good value for money. It was a bit noisy at night, but then it is a city-centre hotel.
