Friendly multilingual reception, calm place despite very central location (you can sleep with open windows without problem!), clean rooms. When arriving we've been asked to choose between two rooms: one in 5th floor (roof floor) which we didn't take as too small windows and quite hot, and one in first floor which was perfect. As the rooms are not air-conditioned it might become a bit hot during summertime, however with open windows it's no problem. The rooms are not big but absolutely sufficient. Overall a great value for price and very much to recommend!

Hi everyone, we are back in Tampa after 23 days in your Hotel. We had a great
time in Nice. Our choice of Hotel was perfect. It's a convenient location, 5
minutes from the Tram, and a few more minutes from Trains or Buses. Your staff
is amazingly polite and helping in anyway they can. Rooms are cleaned everyday.
Breakfast is delicious and plenty. Having the fresh produce market next door is
a plus, we could get fresh fruits everyday.
You are located in a quiet street. We can only recommanded the Comte de Nice,
we stayed there long enough to know. There is no equivalent for the price.
Wishing you all the best.
Regards,
Jacques and Jocelyne Fiori

i have to admit I've never been prouder of organising a holiday until having just got back from this one. We arrived in Nice on the 20th of June and stayed until the 24th. We paid £12 a night having booked way back in January and i think for what we got we definitely got good value for money. There were 3 of us, myself and 2 girls all 20, booked in for a triple room. Upon arrival we were greeted by a friendly and attractive receptionist, given the choice of two rooms to have for the week. The first had a kitchenette and a single and double bed. The room we chose however, had a spacious, with 3 comfortable single beds, a desk and chair, an armchair and a small bathroom. Aside from the lack of shower curtain, and the fact the bathroom was a bit small, it was comfortable and towels and sheets were changed daily with a mint left on your pillow every night. I would have said it would be better if the room had air conditioning, as there was only a standing fan which didn't cool the room properly and it could get very hot and stuffy at times

The location was very good, though it does contribute to some of the cheapness of the hotel. The daily walk would take approximately 20 mins to half an hour to reach the main square of Nice, but not an unpleasant walk. You head towards the main street of Rue de Jean Medecin, which is covered with lots of shops and restaurants, and 24 hour kebab shops if you're feeling peckish after a night out on the Rue des Etats Unis - a great place to go for an english speaking night out. The hotel is located very close to a Spar, and a supermarket, if you are a little put off by the prices of meals around Nice - the service is whats expensive at Nice, the food itself costs very little. For breakfast, a minute round the corner you find a very good little patisserie, which very reasonable prices to buy a typical french breakfast of croissants, pain au chocolate and other great bakery products. The Comte de Nice is also located within ten minutes walk of the two main stations in Nice, so you can make the trip to Monaco or Cannes very easily.

We didn't see alot more of the hotel other than the room, but there is a great outdoor spiral staircase if you need to smoke or just for fresh air while making a phone call. Every day you are greeted by attractive and friendly members of staff on the reception and the hotel is open 24/7 so if you are a night out type person wanting to drink or club in town, there is always someone to let you in at any point in the night. There is also free wi fi in the internet, so with iphones we were all able to make that cheeky facebook update about our holiday. Overall a great experience and a return to this hotel is definitely on the cards. Would recommend this hotel to anyone

Date of our stay 18-22 June 2010

When we arrived at the Hotel Comte de Nice, we were given the choice between two rooms. We chose the room on the 3rd floor at the front of the hotel, with views of the street. We booked a triple room, it was very clean. The room had a desk & chair; a leather comfy chair and an open storage wardrobe; and a phone above the bed. There was a blackout curtain and a small balcony window. The bed was extremely comfortable with duvet and pillows. The bathroom had complimentary toiletries with a small bath and gravity shower.

The only downsides were that the room had no tea and coffee making facilities, or an extractor fan in the bathroom. On the last night of our stay the warm up to the Nice Jazz music festival began and there was very loud live music in the streets below and did not stop until 2am, we had to have the window open as no air-con and very humid that night :0(

The hotel staff are multi-lingual, very polite and helpful; they provided us with a map and directions. There was a lift and a cold drinks vending machine by the reception which was very handy.

For €7,50 per person the hotel served a cold buffet breakfast every morning; we chose to eat out each day to save money.

The hotel is located in the north of Nice just a couple of minutes walk to the tram stop at Gare Thiers which will take you to the Palais Massena or the gare routiere for 1 euro per person (the tram ticket machine is a bit tricky you have to press the green button to get it started). If you walk to the seafront along the Avenue Jean Medecin this will take approx 40 minutes from Hotel.

Every morning there was a fruit & veg market across the road from the hotel, which we bought for our breakfast from; there are plenty of little cafés dotted around the hotel to buy a coffee and a freshly baked croissant for less than 4 euros each.

A taxi from the airport to the hotel will cost you 30 euros. You can get the bus for €4, 00 each to the Palais Massena and then a tram for €1, 00 each to Gare Thiers, which will save you walking up the hill.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Comte de Nice and will be re-booking on our next city break. Michelle & Dan, Horsham, West Sussex, UK

Stayed there for the long weekend after getting a really good price (3 nights for the price of 2) on expedia. After booking I have checked the hotel website and noted that they have the same offer that also includes free breakfast for one night (it was not mentioned on expedia) - and when I have mentioned it during check-in, the free breakfast was instantly confirmed. We paid for our breakfast on other days- I think it was decent selection of varios bakery, cheese and cereals at the price of 7.5 euros is adequate for the expensive city like Nice. Our triple room had 2 single beds and one foldable couch - not an ideal combination for the family with 5 y.o. kid, but it was rather big, so we did not bother to ask for another one. Bathroom could certainly benefit from some upgrade, but nothing really terrible. It looks like there was no A/C in our room, but we certainly did not need it January. They have free wi-fi at the receiption area and at the restaurant. Also, the stop of the regular city bus N23 to the airport is no more than 200 meters away so you do not need to take more expensive express busses (98 or 99) to the city center and then transfer.

although cheap for Nice do not go to this hotel. I was placed on the 5th floor which are all attic rooms and although I am only 5ft 7" kept cracking my head on the beams. The beams on the right side of the bed were only a few inches away from my face when lying down and were also sharp edged so I received a few knocks to the face and head. The bath would not fit a midget into it and I could not use the lavatory without (again) cracking my head due to the appalling lack of bathroom space. The breakfast was vile with UHT milk and very cheap cereals. People were coughing and sneezing over trays of cheese and ham which had no sneeze guards over them (basic hygiene). Reception area is shabby and in bad lack of repair. It is clean but that is it.
