We tried to book a room at Vista Azzurra last year but there were no vacancies - now we know why!
Cathy and Michel are THE most welcoming, delightful and professional couple you could wish to meet. On arrival, there was tea and biscuits on the terrace with Cathy and later when we returned from dinner in town, a glass of wine with both Cathy and Michel in their sitting room.
The pool area and surrounding garden affords the most stunning view across Nice with a selection of sitting areas, in or out of the shade as well as loungers in which to relax and soak up the sun. On a clear day one can see Corsica on the Horizon. There is a well-equipped kitchen in the garden with a choice of table inside or out where simple food can be prepared and enjoyed. We did this on a few evenings rather than walk into town, buying wine, pasta, salads and cheese etc at the local supermarket, just a short walk from the villa. The garden kitchen's fridge was stocked with beer and water and we were able to put ice-cream into the freezer there.
No sooner had we mentioned a trip, or an idea for an excursion than Cathy was there, like magic with the necessary bus time-tables, information and tips. Both she and Michel did everything they could to make our stay perfect - and it was! We didn't mind the walk down into town and even the walk back up the hill was OK but there is a bus which takes you practically to the door although it only runs until 8.pm.
We had stayed with Cathy's sister Nelly at her Bed & Breakfast in the centre of Nice last year where we were also very well looked after and it was so kind of Cathy and Michel to invite us to a family 'afternoon tea' to meet up with Nelly. It was lovely to see her again and much appreciated.
I haven't even mentioned the accommodation yet - more superlatives required; it was fabulous! We were lucky to be able to book the Bella Vista Suite which had magnificent panoramic views from two balconies and was cool and calming, spotlessly clean and tastefully, superbly appointed. The spacious hallway, huge bathroom, sitting room with desk and sofa and a gorgeous bedroom were all wonderful.
On top of all this, the icing on the cake was meeting the lovely guest staying in the other room. A beautiful girl who was such fun and didn't seem to mind spending time, taking trips and drinking wine with two 'oldies'. We had a blast!
