“Charming, comfortable and convenient”
Reviewed 6 September 2013

Built in the late 1800's, the Hotel Windsor has historic beauty and modern amenities. Just a few blocks off the promenade Inglais and a 15 minute walk from the old Center you can easily frequent all the delights of Nice. The hotel restaurant serves beautiful and tasty breakfasts, indoors and out depending on the weather. Dinner in the garden is a delight and very well prepared. Beautiful prese rations, great wine selections. Would love to return. The staff was extremely helpful. Recommended wonderful restaurants in the area. Get a room overlooking the garden with a balcony - extremely Romantic.

Room Tip: Overlooking the garden with a balcony!

We stayed here for a short period of time in December. Location was good, not too far walk from the station. Warm welcome from staff at the front desk (even when we arrive very late at night). We were given an option of which room we would like to stay in and were shown two rooms. One resembled an 8 year old girls bedroom and the other had like a Tribal theme. I SAID QUIRKY!! We chose the tribal room. It was really nice and clean and the bed was super comfortable! The bathroom consisted of a toilet and a shower. The mirror and sink where in the same room as the bed, however that was totally fine as it looked really pretty.

We ate out when we stayed here but the restaurant looked nice and always smelt great so I assume it was fine.

The elevator was funny. It was decorated and the background music was a countdown from a space shuttle launch. We had a good chuckle!

Let me first say good things. Location is very good. easy accessibility to promenade and station.
But the staff and services are just about correct. Would not go out of the way to help you. just answer all your queries but no suggestions. overall an OK place to stay.

This is a small boutique hotel with each room decorated by local artists with hotel amenities such as the garden, outdoor swimming pool, fitness room, massage centre that you won't find in other hotels. It is located on a quiet street within short walking distance to the beech, promenade, shopping and eateries.

The hotel was very clean and the rooms were spacious. I love the rain showers in the room.

There were a lot of reviews about avoiding rooms on the street. My experience is that if you are on third or fourth floor, the street noise is an non-issue and if you are on third or fourth floor on the garden view side, you can't really see the garden anyways. So, ask for garden view only if on the 2nd floor.

Room Tip: There were a lot of reviews about avoiding rooms on the street. My experience is that if you are on...

There are so many positives about this hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. The gardens were nice to sit and relax in at any time of day. The lobby and bar were also calm and pleasant.

The big shock was our room, which was completely different from anything we saw in the online pictures. It looked (and smelt) like a student hostel which would be fine if we had paid about one third of the price. It turned out that this was the first room in the hotel to be decorated by an artist. To be fair, once we got used to the room we did begin to appreciate its quirks; we started refer to the artist by his first name when we were ready to head back to the hotel ("let's go and see Joel"). Also, although the beds looked like hostel beds they were comfortable.

If you a thinking of booking this hotel because it has a pool then please realise the pool is mostly in the shade so it never really gets warm (some people like a cold pool).

I think if we had stayed in a different room we may have felt differently about our stay. I would consider staying there again but would ask for different room options!

Loved the quirky uniqueness of this place compared to lots of bland hotels. Location was excellent - bus to the airport a short walk away, half way between train station and beach and easy walk to the old town. We were pleasantly surprised by the size of our room ( seduction). Highly recommend booking one over looking the garden - absolutely silent. We had a lovely frescoe over an entire wall. Bathroom was quite small and jacuzzi bath was not working and didn't get repaired while we were there. Breakfast in the making hidden garden was lovely. Pool is small and refreshing - not one for hours of lying In the sun! Overall good value for money for this part of he world and would recommend. Lastly, staff were extremely friendly and welcoming.

Room Tip: Room overlooking the garden and request style of room - minimalist or artistic, though I am not sure...

We chose Hotel Windsor based on TripAdvisor reviews. Even so, it was a very pleasant surprise.
It is not in the style of the grand Nicoise hotels, but much more relaxing and low key. The location is very central, and is a short walk form the Promenade des Anglais (and airport bus stop), and the main shopping district. The Old Town is within a 15min walk. The staff are really helpful and obliging, with fluent English.

The reception area is really calm and relaxing and leads into the beautiful garden - beautiful even in April, and a lovely spot to sit and relax. The bedrooms, apparently are all individually designed and themed. Our one had a little balcony where you can sit and relax, watching Nicoise life going by below.
