“Average hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2014

I've recently stayed five nights at Felix Hotel in Nice, therefore I believe I've seen both the good and the not so good aspects of this hotel. The main advantage of staying here is the great location. Hotel Felix is situated on Rue du Massena, near Massena square, 5 minutes away from the beach and 2 minutes away from the City Center. Rue du Massena is a great street to live on, because it has lots of restaurants, coffee shops, cloth shops etc. It is really easy to find, and advantageous if you really want to feel the pulse of the city. Another advantage of this hotel is its aspect. For a 2 star hotel , it looks very chic! Even if the rooms are small, they are tastefully decorated. On the other hand, the cleaning services are not quite as expected...although the room was clean, the cleaning ladies did not give you soap every day and did not change the sheets! Apart from that the staff weren't helpful...we tried to ask some questions about shops, tours, exchange offices, but they didn't know, or didn't understand....They tried to be friendly ( especially one guy), but as I said they weren't helpful at all. To sum up, this hotel is great for its location and aspect, but it lacks proper services...but, taking everything into consideration, I had a positive experience and I would recommend it, especially for budget travelers!

Room Tip: Rooms facing the main street are noisier, but they have a view. Rooms in the back of the hotel are...

This is a charming, 2 star, tiny hotel. Do not expect more than 2 stars, but with the location in the pedestrian street only 2 minutes from the beach you don't need more.
The staff is pleasant, especially Jean Francois in the reception, and Emilie who take care of the cleaning.
We will strongly recommend this hotel if you are not looking for the luxury feeling, but want a hotel in The heart of Nice.
Some will find it more quiet with a room in the back of the hotel, but we like the sound from the restaurants in the street.

OK this is a 2 star hotel, but it was fairly rough around the edges and grubby to say the least. The stairwell was being decorated while we visited, and it was dusty and messy. The service in the hotel was friendly, but minimal. The staff seemed to spend most of the time watching TV and chatting. But overall they were helpful when needing information etc.
Our room was basic, with no dressing table, or place to store cases etc. The bedsheets were clean, but the rest of the bedding had seen better days, and the whole room could have been improved with a fresh coat of paint. The bathroom was clean though, if small, but a little smelly at times in a bad drainage kind of way.
The hotel is on a very busy and touristy street, so if you have one of the front rooms it is very noisy, but the Boulangerie next store does excellent breakfast which was a bonus. You are however quite central, so its easy to get about from here.
Quite frankly, I didn't much enjoy my stay here, I loved Nice, but wished we had picked a better hotel.

This is an incredlbly charming Hotel where I spent the best moments of y life.
Right in the heart of Nice, walking distance from the beach and the top stores, restaurants and bars for a good price.
The people working there made us feel at home and I specialy appreciated spending time with Catherine at the front desk.
I strongly recommand this hotel. I will go back soon!

The Hotel Is Authentic And Delivers On Promises It advertises.
The real Surprise Is Its Ideal location, on a exciting blvd, closed to traffic and with a Mall teaming with restaurants and shops that continue over to the
old city. Then the sea and Promenade des Anglais is 5 minute short walk.
Friendly staff and clean. As an older building stairs are part of the deal.
Very Convenient.

Room Tip: There are street side frontal rooms and rear rooms. Because of the street activity the rear units a...

Stayed here 12th to 17th September. It is a 2 star hotel and doesn't pretend to be anything else. our room was basic and needed a fresh coat of paint but it was spacious and accommodated 3 people well. we reported problem with shower fixture and it was fixed straight away. Room was quite clean, beds comfortable, fresh towels daily although the bathroom did occasionally smell.
All the staff were very friendly.
It's location is excellent close to old town, beach and is on a lively street with restaurants and shops.
It has four floors and no lift - we were on the 4th floor and it was a trek up to the room but with all the calories we burned off we could have an extra glass of wine!

Room Tip: room 16 is spacious, room 15 looked very bright and pleasant.

We booked to stay in Hotel Felix for three days, whilst discovering Nice, as we wanted a cheap and basic hotel for a short stay. What we found was a cramped family room with dirty beds, old toilet and bathroom stinking of sewage and not draining water. However, after talking with the manager, we were very grateful to be upgraded to their premium room on the top floor. Unfortunately, the standards there were only marginally better than that of our previous room: The bed was filthy under the clean sheet on top, floors unswept, another stinky non-draining bathroom and only one air-con machine working, but wouldn't turn-off! We found fleas in the camp-bed and there was an ants nest in the room trailing along the sides of the sofa, beds and up the walls. (and on your face at night!) The fridge would only be used by the brave.
On the bright side, the cafes and restaurants nearby were great, and the beach wasn't very far away. The only parking is in the espcace Gimaldi multi-storey, 5 mins walk away, but expensive. Tip> Get your car park ticket stamped at the hotel and you get a discount. In premier destinations like Nice, it seems if you pay for basic, you get sub-standard. Next time we'll pay more. Although we were grateful for the manger's help and service, we were glad to move on to our next hotel, which cost us less but provided a whole lot more. (though we were relieved to have simple cleanliness!)
Conclusion - Accommodation in Nice is expensive, so even the most basic costs too much, but no more than any other popular destination. Don't not stay here, just be prepared for what you're going to get for your Euros. Exploring Nice, Monte Carlo and Monaco is well worth the trip, but if you can afford to pay more, do :)

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear are quieter, but no view. Rooms at the front look out over the attractive busy str...
