We arrived in Nice without anywhere to stay so frantically looked for a hotel to take us in! We managed to find a hotel that kindly let us use their internet to make a booking - we came accross a deal for Hotel Apogia so confirmed it and made our way to the hotel. WHAT A MISTAKE!!
It was getting late so we were really looking forward to crashing out - unfortunately we were greeted by such a rude member of staff who refused to aknowledge our internet book. I can't even begin to describe how rude this man was! He wouldn't allow us to use the hotel phone to call the UK booking helpline so I had to use my mobile! The guy was then very rude to the person at the end of the helpline. Finally a confirmation email came through to the hotel and the guy aknowledged our booking (despite me showing my confirmation email several times). We had been waiting in reception for two hours trying to sort out what could have been relatively straight forward. During this time we watched the guy (who was called something like Bellend) be rude to several other guests. Shocking, really shocking,

The room was ok and we had got a deal so was probably good value but I would never have paid the full price to stay there. A lot of building work was going on too and the lifts looked like they had seen better days.

Dear Guest,

We certainly appreciate you taking the time to express your concerns regarding your recent stay at the Apogia Nice. We were sorry to hear that we failed to meet your expectations in several areas.

It is our goal to consistently provide the highest quality in both product and service, and it is vital to our continued success to know when we have fallen short of our own high standards. Let me simply say that all of us here at the Apogia NIce are committed to providing a much better and more pleasant experience for our guests than what you had the misfortune of experiencing.
Again, I certainly appreciate your taking the time to inform us of the inadequacies you experienced during your stay. I sincerely hope that you will allow us another opportunity to demonstrate our true level of hospitality and interest in serving you properly.

Kind regards

The hotel was in a good and peaceful region,
Near the center and in areas that are worth to visit someone.
The benefits of the hotel were not as expected.
The cost of the hotel compared to the benefits of was much larger.
Poor breakfast poor quality.

Stayed 2 nights in early July at £79 per night including breakfast.Hop on tram direction of Pont Michel and get off at Acropils stop which is after Place Garibaldi<3min stroll>.Incidently if you've never been to Nice before you can buy a 'Passe journee' ticket in the bus station at arrivals, this will get into town on the express and can be used all day on the trams and buses BUT make sure you compost your ticket every journey or you can be fined.
Rooms clean spacious, separate toilet and bathroom[with bath].Flatscreen tv.Minibar, but mine was not stocked thankfully[too expensive anyway].Staff on reception fluent in ENGLISH.No kettlejug in room thats rare anyway.Despite there being signs apologising for any inconvenience during renovations i neither heard nor saw any disruptions. Was on the 4th floor nice street viewfrom window.

Room Tip: Eggs and bacon as well as various continental meat ,cheese, etc.Hot drinks are self service too from the machine in the corner Don't miss the Hot chocolate it was special..There were 2 lifts and i was up opposite end of corridor from them thus No Noise but can't vouch if you were next to one.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights during a European tour, the hotel was located within walking distance of a number of restaurants and quite close to the tram line that went into the main tourist and commercial area of Nice. There's also a laundry which is about five minutes walk away. The room was quite comfortable though not large, we slept well and everything worked. The breakfast was a bit sparse, not much in the way of hot food and they were a bit slow to get going.

Sadly, despite recent attempts at a make-over this hotel was dull, rough around the edges, poorly serviced and uncomfortable. Basic but smart looking rooms were no indication of anything as renovations being uncompleted meant old carpet was rolled up in the car park, signs were missing or handwritten and a wood workshop was visible and unmanned. Sawdust everywhere. The staff were indifferent and unclear about what was included in the room price; offering breakfast on arrival and suggesting it was included then the following morning wanting to charge for it. They also charged an additional amount for parking without prior discussion. The air-conditioning did not work making the room like a furnace and the sheets were like cardboard. These kinds of function three to four star hotels have only a couple of simple things to get right - comfort, information and simple but friendly service. They failed. Horrible.
