We found out on arrival that we were in the older part of Nice...this is true, but we found it to be safe.

The location is quite good - it is a gorgeous and scenice 10 minute stroll to the amazing Nice esplanade and beach (as pictured in my display picture).

The rooms looked nicer on the website, as the balcony only overlooked the back of the hotel. However the decor was classic beachy blue and yellow, and comfortable - except for the distinct lack of airconditioning - it is controlled across the level, you only have a vent in your room that is out of your control, and the cool air doesn't distribute well at all. I don't mind the heat, but some people have less tolerance for the high 30 degrees...so keep this in mind!

Breakfast was fine, same as all other hotels on our tour through Italy, France, Spain. The big issue was that the dining room is too small and our tour group was reserved the same table as another, meaning that about 20 of us we standing with full trays that we had to dump and come back to. More staff organisation would have helped with this.

Nice is beautiful, Apogia is nice...although I'd go for a place with a beach view next time!

This hotel definatley takes the cake! It is located in a poor neighbourhood (don't go walking the streets after dark) It was rundown, there were holes in the sheets and the blanket cover, our toilet was discusting so was the bathroom. The breakfast buffet (if you would call it that) was grose, all tinned fruit, warm milk for the cereal and stale croissonts. Was about a 10 min walk to the harbour, that was the only thing going for it.

Left my $300 hair straightening irons in my hotel room after we left the hotel, phoned a few hours later when i realised, to ask about them, and the staff were VERY unhelpful.. unwilling to forward them on even if they found them (given payment of course) and in the end they said they found no trace of them! yeah right.
I clearly remember leaving them out as the last thing i was going to put in my bag before i left the room so there is NO doubt in my mind about where they were.
To the Apogia maid in Nice, France...hope youre enjoying my irons as i much as i did.

Not a good choice.
110 euro per night, breakfast excluded.
3 stars but 2 would be better.
We booked 4 rooms.
One was empty... no bar, no phone, nothing.
Bars in the other rooms had 1 bottle of water or nothing.
Toilet was terrible, water close was in a single 1 x 1,5mt room with no windows.
Breakfast (10 euro) had croissantes, coffee, a good orange juice and nothing more.
It was impossible to sleep well because from inside the rooms you hear the lifts working.
Positive things: seems to be clean and position at 1km from the port.

We stayed there because there were no other free hotels in Nice. We had planned to stay at the Saint-Exupéry Hostel, but it was terrible, too far awya from the beach, too expensive (4o euros per person in room for 3). So we went to Apogia and stayed there. The hall is beautiful and the AC works there. Staff is friendly and polite. The rooms were ok, but nothing much for the 150 euros paid for three people. The bathroom was ok. The AC of the room simply didnt work! It was so hot in the city! When we called the reception, a man suggested us to open the window for the wind to enter the room and then refresh it. After that, we would feel the AC. It was a laugh for minutes. Breakfast was not included. Parking was supposed to be, but the reception person was another on the check out, so we had to pay an extra 13 per day of parking. Its good for singles and people who dont expect much of hotels, like excursion people. Otherwise, I would recommend an Ibis room for this amount paid. Thanks for the chance to share the experience.

The hotel is pretty modern and suppose to have A/C in all rooms, but they could not get mine to work. The staff was somewhat friendly. We stayed here with Trafalgar Tours, and it was decent for the price. The neighborhood had several great little pizza places and restaraunts, and a nice little internet shop since there was not one in the hotel. At night, they have a karoke machine in the lounge that you can use at your leisure. The downside was the walk to the beach or old town - both are about 20 minutes. You can walk over the hill (which I recommend doing one day, it has a great park at the top) but the hill is steep and not convenient.
