“Nicest in Nice”
Reviewed 16 July 2012

This is a great hotel. We stayed here for the second time last week, spending three nights at the hotel. The best thing about the hotel is the location at the eastern end of the promenade with views looking along the beachfront towards Antibes. The views really are superb.
The location of the hotel puts it just a short stroll to the old town with the market and restaurants. The beaches are lterally on your doorstep - a selection of paying (bar, sunbeds etc) and public beaches. It is pebbles so you may want the sunbed!
Nice has a great climate and it was very hot when we stayed. The rooms are airy, many with balconies and view. However the hotel does not have a pool which would have been welcome when we stayed. This is why it is a Three Star.
Breakfast is 15 euros but I would recommend going into the old town for this - many restaurants and cafes do petit dejeuner for six or seven euros or a Dejeuner Americaine (the full works) for ten euros.
The Hotel Suisse offers really good value for money - we are already looking forward to our next stay there.

Room Tip: Ask for a Balcony Room although rooms higher up may be quiter. The double glazing works well though.

My wife and indidnanlotnofnresearch in planning our trip to the cote d'azur and Paris this summer. Our plan was two days in nice, three in la lave duo, and one in marseille before heading back to Paris for week two. This was our 20th wedding anniversary, so we really wanted something special. We chose the hotel Suisse in nice because of the positive reviews regarding the views and the cost. We stayed in room 47 which had a balcony with sea view and a queen size bed. Unfortunately, I made a huge error and forgot the date change from flying to the states, and booked the wrong nights. All rooms were booked by the time I realized this two weeks prior, and I threw myself on the mercy of the hotel, explaining the situation. They wrote back immediately to say that I was a very lucky gentleman (for celebrating our 20th) and confirmed that they were able to move our reservation. On top of this, upon arrival we found a congratulatory note and a bottle of champagne and plate of snacks for our anniversary. The staff were incredibly welcoming and genuinely caring, and this made the best possible start to our trip. The views are every bit as stunning as mentioned elsewhere, and the room is awesome--800 thread count sheets or better, clean, and a very nice hotel room. I recommend without reservation. There are fancier hotels if you want to pay for that, but nothing better.

Room Tip: Prestige privilege double with 1,6m bed will get you a balcony with table and chairs and view of sea...

Hotel Suisse was a perfect way to end our vacation in France.

The view of the Riviera was so beautiful from the balcony it was tough to leave! The location was also perfect - an easy walk to the old city and a simple moderate walk to the newer part of town where the upscale shopping was located.

Our room was certainly not huge but very comfortable and the bathroom and amenities were fine. (My only complaint was the "half wall" in the shower - I made a mess every time I showered and got the entire bathroom wet!)

They have an arrangement with Opera Plage for private beaching. It was pretty decent; just be sure to bring the hotel towels with you!

Free internet was great and Bahia at the front desk provided outstanding service!!

We loved the amazing view from our hotel room -- it was simply memorable just sitting at our balcony enjoying the turquoise sea pounding the pebble beach and seeing the lights of Nice coming on during sunset with the distant hills fading into the darkness!

Since the property was recently renovated, our room was clean, nicely decorated and everything in the room worked perfect.

The hotel is also very conveniently located -- just a short 5 min walk to Cour Saleya (old town).

Would have given "Excellent" rating for this hotel if not for the unhelpful and almost rude reception staff.

Room Tip: Make sure that you ask for a room facing the rivera and one with balcony, but of course, it will cos...

The Hotel Suisse has what must be one of the finest locations in Nice: Right next to the edge of Old Nice and with the beach promenade and the beach right in front. The service was very good. The staff was polite, helpful and quick to follow up on requests. Our room on the 5th floor was bright and airy and with a magnificent view over the entire Baie des Anges.
The location at the beachfront also meant that there was quite a bit of noise from the traffic on the Boulevard and from the restaurant/club Castel, but the air conditioning in the room was very efficient, allowing us to shut the (brand new) balcony doors for the night if we wished.

The breakfast was great, but at the price of €15 per person, there are many alternatives, such as in the lovely Cours Saleya nearby. (On the other hand, in the hotel you eat as much as you want.)
The only thing we felt that the hotel lacked was a more spacious elevator. It takes just two persons at a time, and with guests coming and going with luggage all the time - and us staying at the fifth floor - we wished for a second elevator.

For our tender, Scandinavian feet, the pebbly beach was a bit uncomfortable. I had to crawl on my hands and feet to get up of the water over a ridge of moving stones. But the french children ran around with great ease, so that is obviously a matter of training (and of weight, perhaps).

In our view, the location of the Hotel Suisse is at least as good as the famous luxury hotels like the Negresco, in that the Suisse is closer to Old Nice and just a ten minutes' stroll from the main street Jean Medècin. The rates are not bad, either. We will absolutely come back!

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the Baie des Anges and a balcony, the higher up the better, but remember that you...

What a perfect location!!! I will agree with everyone else who comments on the view being the selling point, but just as awesome as the view is how close the hotel is to Old Town Nice. Before I came I wasn't even sure what old town was. So in case you are like me, I will give you a description. It basically is full of tons of DELICIOUS restaurants and lots of street sellers who have everything from jewelry to spices to fruit to flowers. The town reminded me of the streets in Venice or some other small Italian town.  Not all of Nice looks like this and we were so lucky to have it literally steps from the hotels front door. In addition to having Old town right there, you also have the beach front RIGHT there as well. And again, the view is magnificent. Book a room with a balcony. It is so worth it! We booked a superior room through booking.com
And got a pretty good deal. The bed was big and very comfortable. The room had a minibar with pretty decent prices. Not GrEAT prices, but also not outrageous. The bathroom was very spacious and it was nice to have a tub in addition to a shower. It was awesome having VERY reliable free wifi in the room. A few negatives- one morning the cleaning lady just walked right into our room without knocking. This was after she had knocked an hour earlier and we said "we are still in here". We did not put the "please clean" sign on our door so I was a bit disturbed by that whole scene. We also had a pipe in the bathroom that seemed to leak every time we took a shower. I brought this to the front desks attention twice and they said they would fix it but by check out they had done nothing. I was really hoping they would move our room to one with a functional shower. I also was a bit disappointed that room 26 (which is supposed to have a sea view) seemed to have its view blocked by a big tree. I asked to be moved but they said unless i wanted to pay more for a suite they could not move me.  The price was not bad because I booked on booking.com and got my room for 202EU a night. For the view and location it was absolutely worth it. I do wish customer service would have been a bit better.
