“Romantic,Beautiful,and Great Value”
Reviewed 20 October 2009

I never considered the Hotel Suisse when we first planned our trip because it didn't have a high enough tripadvisor ranking! The hotel we stayed at was awful and fortunately they only had room for us for 4 nights. Walking around we chanced upon the Hotel Suisse next to Vieux Nice and across from the sea and the Promenade. It is only three stars, because of the small elevator, lack of restaurant, and few public spaces downstairs, but it is a gem and certainly well priced. We had a beautiful room overlooking the sea for only $240 or less --I forget. It was so romantic at night and day to look at the sea--and to be able to have a morning croissant on the little balcony or a glass of wine after dark! The room was spacious and newly refurbished with minimalsit design, beautiful soft colors of grey, taupe, and creme.I am particularly picky about bathrooms. This one was spacious and immaculate. No sign of black grout or mold growth! Downstairs, the lobby and breakfast room was decorated in greys, pink, lavendar, white. The staff was quite professional and extremely warm and courteous! The ability to walk to the Cours Saleya was a plus(market place where there are some wonderful restaurants that are well priced and where you can shop each morning for wonderful treats)! Check out LE SAFARI. The closeness to the Gare Routiere is also a plus. You can catch buses to most towns and villages on the Cote D'Azur and inland villages for a mere 1 euro!

Have just returned from Nice and our stay at the Suisse. After reading some of the reviews about the surly staff we were really surprised at how pleasant and cheerful they were. The room was good, no.57, the views were superb. We would definitely return to this hotel and Nice, enjoyed our stay thoroughly.

This hotel is well located, with exceptional views and staff that are very helpful. The views over the Med a breath taking, access to the old town, just a few minutes, and the stairs to one of the main sites "Colline du Chateau" are just outside the hotel and it really is worth doing the 90 meter hike up to see the vistas. The only negative was the elevator which is antique and extremely small.

Although the hotel was clean and had a good location, it wasn't very special. I think their best feature is the view from the balcony, of which they gave us a room with a palm tree blocking it. They did switch rooms for us, but not without a bit of attitude. Front desk wasn't very friendly, but thats ok, we didn't need much.
Breakfast was a wopping 17e, not at all worth it, skip it. We were so jetlagged and up ready to eat at 4am that we took breakfast the first morning just for convienience, but we skipped it the next day, you are very close to bakeries and other restaurants.

Easy to book, competitive prices, amazing location (RIGHT by the beach and old town), superbly clean, efficient and professional staff. Very close to the buses, trams and trains so a good hub from which to explore Cannes, St Tropez, Antibes and Monaco as well as Nice. Only thing we didn't do was pay 14 Euros for breakfast as I think that is too steep.

This hotel has the most amazing views, according to the locals to whom we spoke, the best view in Nice.
The rooms are not large but spend the extra and ask for a room on the 4th floor or higher with an sea view and balcony and you will be delighted.
Located between the port and the old city its location is perfect. Breakfast was adequate provided that you were there early otherwise you would need to ask for fruit etc to be replenished. Because of the location however it was easy to go out and eat so it was not a huge issue. We would recommend not taking the package that includes breakfast. The staff were efficient if not overly friendly. This is a great hotel and we would highly recommend it. We stayed a week and used Nice as our base for travel to Cannes, Monaco etc.

Location and room (Superior) is great, including the view. Nice and clean. Slight compromise is the traffic in front of the hotel.

Very near to old town...but a walking distance to Place Messena for shopping...

One thing which is SO lacking is the wamth and the helpfulness of the staff...

The free WIFI is good...but must be accessed from the main lobby...
