A really beautiful area of Nice, quiet and close to the beach.
This hotel was on the stop of a group tour and due to being sick I spent a lot of time indoors here. We had a twin room booked but got a room with two single beds and a bunk bed! Great for putting our bags on but otherwise unused. The bathroom we had was all blue! Like something from a movie but the shower and sink was very clean. The best part was the quaint breakfast room and balcony that faced the road which you can see all walks of life. A real nice area, the hotel was just not up to it. But great if you just need a good shower and sleep.

The hotel's advantages are location, a few blocks from the beach and pedestrian zone, and a nice staff. The hotel is a little dated -- but also I think a good value. Our rooms were clean and tidy, the elevator worked, the breakfast was good enough. You have to leave your key at the front desk when you go out, which was a little eccentric, but okay. We paid 5 Euros for wifi for the 2 night stay, but the wifi was very strong and worked great. I've had free wifi at hotels that hardly worked.

The general manager (?) brought his adorable dog Busby to the hotel living room in the evening, which was fun. The people working there were very nice, and always greeted us and had our keys ready immediately whenever we walked in. They always had a smile for us and good recommendations. The friendliness seemed genuine and we all appreciated that.

Yes, it could use a little brightening up, but overall we became a little attached to the place and had no problems there.

We have just returned home from a lovely break in Nice. Our stay at the Hotel Busby was for 10 nights. On our arrival we were a little disappointed with the first impressions of the hotel, but as we relaxed into our holiday the Busby began to grow on us. The staff were very helpful & friendly our room was adequate, the bed wasn't the most comfortable but it was clean & each day we we're give fresh towels.
It would have been nice to have tea & coffee making facilities in our room.
It was a typical french hotel with a vintage feel to it.
Breakfast seemed to vary from day to day but we always had fresh croissants and bread with jams & sometimes we were given ham or salami. Fresh fruit would have been nice.
The location of the hotel was great a short walk from beech shops and plenty of restaurants.
If we were returning to Nice as we now know the resort well we would stay in a probably stay in a different hotel.

To be fair the staff do seem to care and are nice, which is why i didn't give it one star - but thats where it ends. Moldy, dusty, old, charges you for wifi, a rotten breakfast - this place is great if you want to punish yourself.

Really needs to be refurbished or just torn down.

On a recent European trip we were part of a tour group that had occasion to stay at the Hotel Busby for several nights. The hotel had seen better days in past years and so we attempted to look beyond the shabby exterior toward its providing us with a place to sleep with basic comforts and necessities.

The best feature of the Hotel Busby was its fine location, close to the sea and close to restaurants and shops in Nice, just several blocks from the Promenade des Anglais. It provided us with a rather small but clean room in a busy part of the city. Our room on the second floor looked out over a busy but quiet street.

Unfortunately, the beds were ancient, but we slept well in spite of their mattresses being too soft. The accommodations generally were rather shabby and we resolved that in future visits to Nice, we’d give the Hotel Busby a bye.

Breakfast was a rather basic affair with coffee, croissants, cold meats and cereals. So much for a hearty breakfast. A sitting room was a novel idea, but it was only available to us at times convenient to the management. In general, the staff members were delightful and served us well.

Stayed her 2 nights and you have to hand your key is before you go out. They actually came outside and asked me for it so I did. When I got back at midnight the desk was unattended with all the keys laid out! Anyone could have picked up our key and taken our passports from the room. The room has no safe. A man was sitting in the lounge room one night but didn't even look away from the TV. We could have grabbed anyone. There was also another traveller who locked themselves out at 1am and he was given the master set to quickly unlock his room. I already felt uncomfortable but when I got back to my room housekeeping had opened the window to our room wide open. It is possible to walk the landing to get into another room.
Also reception were not understanding or helpful when we needed an iron. Going to Monaco you need to iron your clothes and they had no irons and suggested a drycleaners that were closed.

Stayed here in summer of 2012.. Couldn't have asked for a better hotel! classic charm from the balcony and French doors to the stained glass windows and old fashioned telephone booth. great staff and great atmosphere. this hotel captures the French Rivera like no other, good walking distance as well. loved L'Hotel Busby.
