“Good for the price”
Reviewed 19 October 2012

I stayed at the Hotel Suede for 2 nights in a triple room with 2 friends in October. The hotel was great value for money, situated in the city centre just 5 minutes walk from place massena and the old town and 1 minute from rue massena with lots of great restauarants like Villa D'este (really good!)

the hotel room itself was big but when walking past another triple room on our floor we saw that it was in fact a lot more spacious than ours. So rooms were big but had the potential to be much better! Safe in rool, extra pillows etc. But no bottle opener which proved annoying! We had to take our drinks down to the reception to get them opened because they only had one in the whole hotel.

Reception were kind enough to keep our luggage for us on our day of departure, and we only returned from St Tropez at around 9pm in the evening to collect them which was not a problem for them. The only thing was that our luggage was not in a locked room it was just sitting out in the open in a corner of the lobby which could not be seen from the reception desk - not exactly safe!

The one major drawback was that the wifi connection was not very good - the hotel's internet policy also meant that only 2 devices per room could use the wifi. there were 3 of us with about 5 devices between us including mobile phones so we had to continuously ring down to the reception area to get new codes and to get them to reset the old ones - it was very temperamental and a lot of hassle

Our room was on the 5th floor with a great balcony and street view. Lift to 5th floor really fast and large compared to most french lifts! It really was a good hotel just a few little things could have been improved on but it in no way discourages me from booking here again. it will definitely be my first choice for cheaper accomodation in the centre of Nice!

Hotel du Suede is a comfortable mid range hotel in a great location close to restaurants, shopping and a few minutes walk to the Promenade. Our room was average size, clean and well appointed. My only grumble was the bathroom which is small and poorly arranged. Staff at reception were pleasant and helpful and the buffet breakfast was good.

Public transport in Nice is cheap and easy to use. If you locate the tourist info centre on the Promenade they will provide timetables, fare prices etc. We caught the public bus to Monaco for the day for 1 Euro each - a bargain! There is also an airport bus for 4 Euros (1 way). The tourist road train is also good value for 8 Euros. The commentary is informative and the route gives you a good overview of what Nice has to offer.

Nice has a great holiday feel about it. The locals are relaxed and friendly and the quality of food (much of it italian) was excellent. Our family of three, including a teenage daughter will certainly return.

Stayed at this hotel for 7 nights, excellent location, had a street view balcony room, the room was a good size, only disappointment was a small wardrobe , bathroom a good size, room bright and airey, the staff at the hotel well what can we say but excellent, reception staff polite at all times and very helpful with maps, train times and bus and tram times, loads choice for breakfast, was nice too sit on the terrace overlooking the rooftops of nice as this is situated on the 5th floor. The rooms were clean to a very high standard every day. Will be returning very soon. Oh bus stop just around the corner from the hotel bus no 98 which you can get from the airport to the hotel for 4 euros so easy, always got a taxi before but will never use a taxi again as the bus , and tram service is superb!!

The hotel is very well located in the center of Nice, close to beach, close McDonalds (ha-ha) and other fast foods, close to upper-scale restaurants, close to boutiques and minimarkets... close to everything you need during your stay in Nice! The room we had was small but well maintained and clean. The bathroom is also small but ok and clean. There is bus stop 'Albert 1er' in 2 min walking from the hotel. From the bus stop you can go catch bus #98 which goes directly to the Airport (EUR4, full day fare). Another thing I would like to mention about the hotel is summer terrace on 5th floor which is used for breakfast - it’s so nice to have cup of morning coffee there! Reception staff was always helpful and friendly providing us with maps and advices. The only bad thing I found in our room is strange bath curtain, which doesn't deflect water from shower, so can you have puddle on the floor.

This is clearly not a 5 star hotel but it gets 5 stars for price and location. The girl at the front desk was super helpful any time we asked her for directions and recommendations. Was a two minute walk to beach, very close to all the action for shopping and lots of restaurants right on the corner. We had a double room which worked perfect for the four of us. Our room looked to be newly renovated, was clean and had comfortable beds. Washroom was great too. That's all we asked for.

My wife and I stayed here for one night this week. The room we had on the first floor was very nice and modern. It was very clean and quite spacious (which was good as we had a lot of luggage with us). Staff were friendly and welcoming. Shower was great and powerful. Lighting in the bathroom was a bit poor (I think this was to do with the placement of the overhead lights) and made the mirrors a little hard to use effectively. Free wifi access was a nice extra as I had been starved of this for a few days on my travels. Location is superb and is easy walking distance to the beach and shopping. Would recommend this hotel and would stay here again if in Nice.

This hotel is excellent for only being a 3 star hotel. It has modern rooms - most with balconies over looking a lovely cafes/shopping area. The location really is fantastic, close to cafes, bars and shops. In saying this, it is not a noisy or loud location in any way. Rooms are very clean and reception staff are really friendly. Breakfast is good and typically continential - with the addition of cooked bacon and scrambled eggs. I highly recommend this hotel.
