My girlfriend and I stayed at this hotel on 12 December.

The hotel is located close to the beaches (it is on the small road as the Negresco) and only a short walk from the centre of the city.

The hotel is a beautiful building dating back to the late 19th century, which the staff had decorated nicely for Christmas.

The interior of the hotel is undergoing some internal improvements however that did not impact on our stay.

The staff were friendly and spoke good English and were keen to ensure that our stay was pleasurable.

The room itself was small but very nicely decorated with what I think was a recently fitted bathroom. We were impressed.

Although we did not use the facility, there was a lovely guest room downstairs where the breakfast was served and where drinks were taken in the evening. Nice touch.

If I were visiting Nice again in the future I would certainly stay at this hotel again.

We stayed here for a couples vacation and found it to be a good value. It was in a great, quiet neighborhood and we enjoyed sitting in the cute back garden. The staff were very friendly and helpful. All front desk staff spoke with French and English which was nice. We booked online and were nervous about arriving late in the evening - they made sure to email us ahead of time and provide a door code for late night access.

The room was a bit small but nicely decorated in an antique style. We really appreciated that it had AC and complimentary coffee. The best part was there it was only a few blocks from the famous Hotel Negresco and Blue Beach.

We liked the old charm of this building- and they are still working on it-but had no impact on our holiday. The room was very small, decorated lovely with fabric not paper on the wall. The bathroom was tiny but all new , we had the same trouble with the water as a previous reviewer-water went from scalding to freezing. Room kept clean, we were very pleased until our new neighbours came in - no not neighbours from hell- but our walls were so thin we could actually hear them unzipping their luggage , speaking quietly, even switching on the kettle !!! Perhaps we were just unlucky with our room. The staff went out of their way to help us with bus and train timetables and spoke excellent English. Also ,just be careful , the bottled water in the room is not free .

Dear Juleswale,
Thank you for your respond. Indeed the hotels architecture is a jewel of the Belle Époque and we are happy that you appreciated the ambiance. Thank you for the compliment of the decoration; we try to respect the building in renovating carefully with the theme «à la Francaise" and yes every room is different. We are sorry, about the neighbors. We do have a 24 h reception service, so we could have had the possibility to react. Please, contact me personally the next time when coming to Nice, in order to choose a very quiet room for you. Thank you for your understanding. Best regards of Nice, Barbara Kimmig.

My pleasant stay was made possible diligent staff who give their best to their guests.
The location was on the whole convenient though some amount of walking is needed to get to the inter-town train stations and also to the old town. It's very near the part of the beach where Hotel Negresco is situated.
Any complaints of the room was responded immediately.

Thank you to the manager and staff of Hotel Rivoli.

Merci!

If you're looking for a little bit of French Charm you've found it.
Stayed here 6 days and was upgraded to a higher level floor (from the Basement) at small extra cost.
The room and bed was small (typical of most French Hotels of his type) so don't get energetic, there isn't the room. It had individually controlled split system A/C...a great idea!
The bathroom is newly renovated and also very small, one gripe, the Hot water in the shower went from scalding to cold without warning, possibly due to others in the building using Hot water at the same time.
The view out over the street from our room was pleasant and gave a glimpse into ordinary life in Nice.
The staff were pleasant and professional and were eager to help.
The property is clean and rooms maintained daily, and although renovations were taking place on the same floor we barely noticed.
The location is perfect close to Niceville, the Promenade, numerous eateries and parking on site (paid) made it easier than parking on the street and feeding the meter every 2 hours.
Would I stay again? Probably not as the rooms were too small and pricing wise a walkin will see a larger room on the Promenade at this time of year for a little more.
However, good Budget type accommodation in a convenient spot.

Room Tip: Book a room on an upper level, as budget rooms are below road level.

Dear David,
We would like to thank you very much for your very detailed information and your compliments. Your opinion is important for us, especially as you are top contributor. All of our guests agree with you about the perfect location and indeed the building itself is a unique Belle Epoque house of 1890 and we are continuing investing in constant renovation and decoration, inspired by the “ French charm”. The beds ( new) has different sizes: semi basement & tradition double rooms ( 140/200cm), twin ( 2 x80x200 cm) and the superior double rooms ( 160x200cm), twin ( 2 x 140x200 cm). Thank you as well for the compliment concerning our professional staff. We believe that the hotel should have the role of a counselor (of course only if the clients is asking for…) concerning things to do in Nice or the region . And it’s so important to experience a nice restaurant with good service, especially in France. We are happy that you realized that we are constantly working on maintenance and cleanness is of course, one of priorities. Our biggest rooms are the superior rooms and all the year round, we have special proposals, for our direct booking guests. Looking very much forward welcoming you again, best regards to Australia, yours Barbara Kimmig.

We recently spent 3 very enjoyable nights at this hotel. The building has lots of charm, and the staff were uniformly excellent - very friendly, very helpful. Climate control in the room was a modern through-the-wall unit, which worked very well, and the bathroom was quite modern, so one does not have to sacrifice creature comforts to enjoy the charm of the building. Free wi-fi also worked well. Well located, but in a quiet area just off the rue de France, so easy walk to the Promenade des Anglais and the main commercial district. Room was small by North American standards, but quite adequate for 2 adults. We had a very enjoyable stay, would happily go back.

Dear Ectrim,
we would like to thank you for your very kind words. It's really very motivating for all of us !
Indeed we try to underline the historical character of the Villa Rivoli in taking very much care when renovating rooms or public areas. We are as well always looking for some nice antics furniture’s or paintings... who give a special atmosphere to the Villa. Wishing you all the best and please, do not hesitate to contact us directly when you plan your next trip back the Nice . Barbara Kimmig & team.

Hotel is within comfortable walking distance of " Old Nice", beach promenade and Railway Station. Bed is comfortable. Space for two people to move around is limited with small bathroom. Rooms not well sound insulated and conversations in hallway / next door room can be easily overheard. Reception staff very friendly and helpful.

Dear Chris,
merci beaucoup for the compliments . All of our clients really appreciate just to drop out of the hotel and beeing in some meters on the seaside and beeing in walking distance to most important places in Nice. Thank you as well for the compliments concerning the quality of service from our team. Indeed it's very important for us to give special information to every single special request. We are as well happy that you realised that the beds are new. This is something very important in a hotel on my opinion. We are just finishing in putting the new doors in rooms and on the floors. One of the reason was as well to offer a quite sleep to our clients. Looking forward welcomingt you again at the Villa Rivoli, best regards Barbara Kimmig.
