We felt this was a very good value hotel as it was clean and comfortable with complimentary breakfast and packed lunch and welcome drink vouchers, which was a pleasant surprise. We chose it as close to the station and although a less salubrious area than desired we did not feel uncomfortable or at risk. We compared prices with hotels nearer to the sea and felt we received excellent value for money. A word of warning with the trams, validate your tickets when boarding. We were fined 61euros as we did not see the machine as it was packed and we did not know the system.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear are quieter.

We stayed here on Saturday night, the neighbourhood is full of prostitutes and tramps as I suppose many European cities are so close to the main train station. The hotel is a long way from the beach, though u can take a tram just a few minutes away and get there in about 15 mins. Location wise it's better to stay elsewhere.

Our main grievance was the fact that we were woken up just before 7am by workmen shouting and clattering around outside our room and going into the roof. I telephoned reception and spoke to a woman who assured me this would be sorted, yet 30 minutes later it was ongoing. I called the lady again on reception who this time didn't believe the workmen were there...as though perhaps I was having a bad dream!! I was then assured however that they would be told to quit working for a while. This did not happen. We eventually got up and went to reception to complain and two women there were unapologetic and had nothing to say about the matter. I've never stayed in a hotel were guests have been treated so poorly and with such arrogance! It was a shame because the gentleman referred to in the review below was extremely helpful to us on check in, and a really nice guy. Overall this hotel is not worth stayin in unless it is a stopover on the way to somewhere else...

Our rather small room was clean and comfortable with air conditioning - essential at this time of year in Nice. At check in there was a rather abrupt lady but apart from that there was a gentleman who, I believe was the manager, who was very helpful on check out. The breakfast was adequate but nothing special and there was a free bottle of water and a lunchbox that contained a sandwich and some fruit. The hotel is not in the best part of town and a good walk to the Promenade Anglais but ideal for a stopover. All in all it was OK but next time we need a one night stopover during transit we will try a different hotel.

The hotel was in a very bad neighbourhood. The prostitutes were day and night just a block away from the hotel's entrance. On the check in day we used the toilet in the reception and it was more dirty even from a public one. The room was clean but too tiny and with no view. The breakfast had only cold food but it was plenty and tasty. The lunchbox and the welcome drink was a plus. The main reason we booked this hotel was the proximity from the train station but we found out that it wasn't that close and as I mention before we had to pass all the street hookers place. I guess that if we'll go in Nice again I would prefer the best western alba as it is more central and in a much better location.

I stayed at this hotel because of its close proximity to the Gare de Nice. I appreciated a quick check-in and check-out. They provided a sack lunch, which was quite a nice little snack for my train ride. They were very helpful and pleasant. My room was small but comfortable. It was warm, but there was a bit of air conditioning, and the value was good. I did not have the breakfast because my train left early and I didn't have time. This was a moderately nice hotel for a reasonable price, which makes it a good value, in my opinion.

Stayed for 3 nights in June 2011. The hotel is clean, comfortable and in a good location. On the same street, there is the bus stop to/from the airport, the main train station and a tram stop. There's also a fantastic sandwich shop 2 minutes walk away (leave the hotel and turn left), very important!
The breakfast is excellent here, full continental buffet with cereals, pastries etc. They also gave us a lunch bag for each day, which had a bottle of water, pre-packed sandwich and a bag of crisps!
The beach and main centre of Nice is about a 15 minute walk away, or you can just get the tram. You get a 10 journey ticket for 1 euro, which takes you anywhere around Nice. Travel down the coast is also fantastically cheap, both trains and buses and you can use your multi journey ticket on all modes of transport.
Whether you're here for a short or longer duration, this hotel should suit your every need.

We stayed 6 nights at the Best Western Riviera Hotel in Nice and were admired by the staff that works at the hotel. All staff and especially Norbert were extremely helpful. The first day we arrived, Norbert gave excellent overview of the hotel, its surroundings and places that could be visited. The hotel itself is clean and cosy, though the rooms are a bit small and the location is a little bit far from the beach. But due to the pleasant nature of the staff we would recommend staying there, especially if it is for 2-3 nights.
