Just back from 3 nights at La Perouse. A great location, on the road, but the rooms are all well set back so no noise. The staff in reception were very helpful, always there with a greeting. We initially had a room on the second floor which had a small patio area and a limited sea view. We requested a move but they were full on the Saturday night (marathon on Sunday) but moved us to 402 on Sunday p.m. MUCH better ! A small balcony, just enough space for table & 2 chairs but the view was stunning. All along the beach & promenade, a good view of the airport and beyond.
The room was nice and bright, modern bathroom with bath. We made use of the pool each day , even though though their website indicated it would be closed. Our deal included breakfast which was fine, although I'm not sure it would have been worth the money.
This hotel can be highly recommended, but certainly ask for the 4th floor if you want to be able to chill and watch the world go by along the promenade.

I stayed in this hotel recently and enjoyed a lovely break. As many have said, the location is excellent. I found the staff very professional and accommodating. I thought the room was expensive but when we were upgraded, this made the price fairer. This is an excellent hotel and I do not think that you will be disappointed if you choose it.

We have just returned from a three night stay at La Perouse (marathon weekend). I did a lot of research on the internet and we decided that this hotel suited us best (especially as we had an offer that included breakfast). We were not disappointed. Firstly the staff. They were first rate, extremely friendly and it did not matter which staff or shift, we were always greeted with a smile. They got it just right, friendly but not over friendly, perfect. Our room was 415, which had a side view of the sea. When we stay again we will request one of the rooms with a sea view as it has to be the best view in Nice. Our only complaints about the room are that there was no mirror in the bedroom, only a mirror over the bathroom sink. As females it is important to get that final full glance before you venture out so this needs to be rectified. Secondly the height of the shower. Too low, to get it higher it has to be hand held. This could be a problem for some. I was surprised when
reading through the reviews someone said the breakfast was not good value. As already stated we did not pay as it was included in our booking but we both thought the breakfast was first rate. Choice of cereals, fruits, yogurts, hams, cheese etc., an assortment of bread and bacon, sausages and potatoes. You could then order any eggs you wanted, which were cooked to perfection, and fruit juice tea and coffee and a big bowl of fruit. I have stayed in a very expensive 5 star in Marbella and this breakfast was much better. Also, again lovely staff, hardworking and friendly. On the downside there is a very slight smell of cooking in the rooms but not too bad. To top this hotel off. Lovely outside area that leads to a consistently heated swimming pool and lovely sauna beside it. Cannot describe to views from the pool, amazing and then you have the Jacuzzi on the roof with another patio area with chairs and chill out areas. You are now higher than the castle viewing point. Incredible. We did the marathon then sat in the Jacuzzi with a glass of wine and looked out onto the sea and the sunset, magic.

Room Tip: request sea view or one of the side suites. Maybe slightly extra but definitely worth it.

We stayed at this hotel for long weekend and have to say that it's location was superb for such a short city weekend. It is just next to the beach with possibility to morning swim, also as is the old city and the several restaurants in the harbor. Staff at the hotel were helpful and friendly and the general area comfortable. Swimming pool and sauna were also great. Our room was ok sized and it was clean, but it smelled a bit moldy if you kept the door closed. Besides to this, the downside of the place was the breakfast which was not value for the money.

Dear Leena,
Thank you for recommending the Hotel la Perouse for long week-ends! It is indeed one of the best sports in Nice! Your opinion is important to us and having very satisfied guests is our priority. We are now in a process which will enhance the buffet breakfast; we are counting on your next stay with us to comment the change.

Stayed at Hotel La Perouse for a week on our honeymoon, and was very happy with our experience here.

The staff was extremely helpful and pleasant for our entire trip - this includes everyone from the front desk, to the restaurant, to the housekeeping. I felt very catered to and cared for the entire time, and want say an extra special thank you to all of the staff for their help.

Our room itself was fantastic! We paid extra to have a room on higher floor so that we had a terrace with a beautiful view of Nice (a Deluxe room). The view was amazing, and completely panoramic. One thing though - it seemed that we lucked out and got a corner room so that we also had a big window facing to the side of the cliff where you could also see the water as well. The bathroom was huge with a very large bathtub. The shower was the best I have ever had in any hotel. The bed was comfortable.

The hotel was in a good location to everything you would want to visit while in Nice - right across the beach and promenade, and right next to Old Nice.

We didn't take advantage of eating in the restaurant, although I wish I had as the food smelled very good from our terrace. We did the breakfast buffet one morning and while it was good, seemed a bit overpriced. Would definitely recommend to going into Old Nice for breakfast and other meals as there are an abundance of restaurants and cafés.

Again, we truly enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would highly recommend!

Room Tip: We had room 401 - would highly recommend because of the terrace view as well as the cliff view. Also...

My husband and I had 5 nights mid Oct 2013. This is a very disjointed hotel with a small reception area. You have to get 3 different lifts up to the sun terrace which did having amazing views over the bay but in October wasn't really suitable for sitting out and looked a bit bedraggled We had room 109 which was at a right angle to rooms on higher levels so that when we lay on our bed we were overlooked by people out on their balconies - very disconcerting! We complained and were shown another room which was dark and not nice or a 2nd room which wouldn't be ready until the following afternoon by which time we couldn't really be bothered to move. It was also described as being a garden view room - well you could just about see a little bit of the garden!
We have travelled widely and I really don't consider this to have been a 4* experience. Some friends of ours stayed there and had a 5th floor room with a terrace which I understand was much better than ours. We were very disappointed and would not stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on one of the higher floors

Dear Terry,
We are sorry to know your stay with us did not meet your expectations. La Pérouse is a boutique hotel that looks more like a private villa rather than a traditional hotel and therefore all our rooms have their own specificities. The hotel was very busy during your stay and we are sorry that we were not able to propose you more rooms as an alternative.
We would be delighted to have the opportunity to welcome you again in Nice and make you discover a room that will better suit your requests. Please do not hesitate to contact us directly if you are planning do came back on the French Riviera.
Kind regards,
