“What we hoped for and more”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 May 2010

I spent many a night reading review after review to make sure our first visit to Nice would be a holiday to remember. I decided on Hotel La Perouse as the reviews were very favourable, the only worry was the room we would get ,as i had booked the standard room through travel republic at a decent price with breakfast i knew we wouldnt get a sea view. I need not have worried as the standard room was perfect for us with a view of the garden and pool. This hotel is probably in the best position of all the hotels mentioned , is spotless, in fact the sheets and pillowcases were changed every day. The staff , everyone of them were so friendly infact Irina lovan (sales director ) should be so proud of them. The breakfast had a good choice and enjoyed sitting in the garden under the lemon trees. We ate in the restaurant on our first night and it turned out to be the best out of our five night stay. They do a three course menu ( choice) for 39euros , the only thing to avoid is to many drinks from the bar and touch nothing from the mini bar, we usually brought a nice bottle of wine back for a late night tipple on balcony, i dont know why hotels charge over inflated prices for bar & mini bar drinks when if they were reasonable people would buy them. We will book La Perouse again for next year , so if anyone is still unsure about where to stay you wont go far wrong.

A friend and I have just returned from a 3 night stay, the hotel was very nice. We did manage to secure a better rate through a travel agent than direct and booked a sea view room that was definitely worth it. The really fab thing about this hotel is the location, nestled between the old town and the port, just a few mins walk from everything you would want in Nice, plus it had a delightful garden, pool area and roof terrace. Breakfast is sensibly served until 11 allowing for lazy mornings and the staff were extremely helpful. Rooms were well appointed, not huge but plenty of storage space and very clean, the only but was the fight you had with the shower curtain each day, why do hotels still favour those things that cling to you when you least want them to, plus the television english channels were limited beyond sport but hey who needs television when on holiday. I would definitely return.

Very nice and quiet position although it's located close to the Promenade Anglais. Only 50 meters to the old Town of the City and 200 meters to the Harbour. At night it was nice to let the windows open, and to hear the rushing of the sea.
All the restaurants suggested by the hotel were excellent and recommendable.
The restaurant located in the hotel was very nice and the staff presented themselves in a friendly and very politely way.

We booked this hotel following previous reviews on trip advisor. We had a room which faced directly onto the cliff face and was therefore very dark. The room decoration was tired and in particular the bathroom was quite poor for a hotel that promotes itself in the boutique sector. The fittings were old,the toilet was cracked, the sink was cracked, the bath fittings were broken and so was the hairdryer. The shower fitting over the bath did not have a curtain to prevent water going on the floor and therefore all the towels were used every day to mop up. We also found the bed rather uncomfortable. Building renovations on floor two ensured that the upper floors could only use the small lift for access. We were not made aware of this at any time prior to arrival
The hotel restaurant and garden area are the nicest feature and we enjoyed the evening menu on two occasions. Although it is quite expensive the quality and pleasant garden atmosphere make it a nice experience.
The staff were always courteous and helpful.
All in all this hotel is nicely located for Nice attractions but I would recommnend that you pay extra for a better room or find an alternative quality hotel that provides a good standard room.

Dear guest,

I would firstly like to thank you for sharing with us your experiences at the Hotel la Pérouse in Nice. It is very important for us to have our guest’s feedback in order to readjust and continue our everyday quality mission.

Starting from 2000/2001, we have refurbished 90% of the guest rooms in a Mediterranean style proposing all the modern comfort of a charming boutique hotel. As you saw during your stay last week, we continue improving the comfort and quality of the our property but unfortunately, in the beginning of this year, the renovations went above the delays. As a consequence at the moment un still have 6 rooms left that need renovations and the works have been rescheduled for November 2010.

Unfortunately, during your stay you had one of these 6 rooms that are not yet refurbished. We would have been extremely reactive and propose you another room if you would have informed us of the discomfort you experienced. I am extremely sorry that you did not fully enjoyed the stay at the Hotel la Pérouse and I apologise for all the inconvenience encountered.

I truly hope we will have another chance in the future to show you the real comfort and quality of the Hotel la Pérouse. I would truly appreciate if you contact me personally for your future stay in Nice!

Great location! All rooms have ocean views and most have these charming terrace balconies. The room is very well appointed and the bathroom's are a good size. The parking is expensive but so it is at every European hotel-you will have to pull up to the signage and park in a traffic lane- just put on your hazards as the valet/bellhop is super fast and attentive. Great pool area and the restaurant is decent. Free wi fi. Easy walking distance to most everything you can want. There is a "gym" but it is teeny tiny. We did not, however, try the sauna. Most of the staff speak English well. One of the better hotel rooms and locations we stayed at.

Loved La Perouse in low season. Jacuzzi empty, upgrade to garden view room and staff very nice. As always parking a bit of a pricey shock- 19 euro a night. The staff spoiled us. Would go back in low season. Pool not heated in low season.

In the heart of Nice close to the beach and the old city hotel La Perouse is really well located. We appreciated the spacious and well decorated room. Good amenities such as a swimming pool, a Jacuzzi, a solarium, a sauna and fitness. We enjoyed a lot the taste of Provencal cuisine. Effecient staff. Thank you so much for the really nice welcome and stay.
