“Nice location, standard room”
Reviewed 11 May 2014

We stayed 3 nights at the Hotel Regence. The location was terrific as it was on a pedestrian street/shopping area. It was only a couple of blocks to the tram. The front desk personnel, if not particularly friendly, were quite efficient. The room itself was quite standard for France. No real surprises. The only two complaints were the horrible wifi connection in the room and the extremely limited breakfast(which was an additional charge). To connect to the wifi or remain on wifi, you had to go out into the hall or lobby. The breakfast was a basket of rolls, no fruit or any other items. Nevertheless, for the convenience of the location and standard accommodations, we would consider staying again.

Room Tip: Be aware there is no way to be driven to the hotel after 10:00 a.m. and will have at least a one or...

Positives:
+ The location is very good.
+ 2 tram station away from the main train station.
+ 5 mins walk from the old town and the sea
+ The room was small but clean. The bed was comfortable.
+The street outside the hotel is very lively even during the night with many restaurants and shops, but there was no noise whatsoever once we were in our room.
Negative:
-The breakfast was average.

I will stay here again without a problem, recommended!

Tucked away on one of the main streets this hotel is a great find. Surrounded by bars, restaurants and shops and only a short walk to the sea front. What more could we ask for. People might comment on the small bathroom but if your anything other than huge then it's perfectly adequate. People also have mentioned disappointment of breakfast of bread, croissants & pan. Au chocolates but we enjoyed it. The coffee is good as is the quality of the typical French breakfast. We have enjoyed it every day. The bread is a great change from the average British fair! Staff are helpful and friendly. The wifi cost us only €1 a day. Come here you will be pleasantly surprised we enjoyed our three nights very much.

Room Tip: If you want a coffee during the day it's only €1.50 here!

I had lower expectations simply based on the fact that I figured this was a "budget" hotel since the price is so reasonable. But I was delightfully surprised to find that it was super clean, comfortable, with nice service and in an unbeatable location. This truly was the perfect choice for our 3 night stay - although not sure if I could handle a week here as the rooms are quite tiny. For the price, this hotel is simply a no-brainer.

Room Tip: We had a room at the front of the building on the 3rd flr. We were worried that it would be noisy...

My mother has mobility issues so I needed a hotel with an elevator and centrally located. Our room was as pictured... small, clean, quiet, and yes, dated. One small window, no view, but comfortable temperature. But at literally a third of the price of hotels just a block away on the promenade, and whuch I might add don't generally get good reviews for the rooms or food, it's a gem of a find. The staff was utterly wonderful not just for Nice, but for any hotel I've been to. English was very good, they were super-helpful in making plans. If I go again i'd definitely stay here unless it was a romantic getaway type trip, which would call for a different atmosphere. Two blocks in any direction gets you cafes, shops, and transit.

A note for my fellow American travelers.....if you haven't traveled in Europe before, please be aware of the relatively small size of rooms...you often may find your knee under the sink while sitting on the toilet or may have to step into the tub to close the bathroom door! Just be prepared for it and go with it... you're not going to be spending that much time in the room, and service is way more important which is a standout at this hotel.

My seventh stay at Hotel Regence which ticks all the boxes for the solo traveller on a budget. On a lively pedestrian street of cafes and shops it's safe early till late. Near old town, seafront, main square, has great connections, to trams, buses, trains and airport. In clean, comfortable room overlooking the street, am not disturbed by noise, it's winter and relaxing. The entire staff friendly, welcoming, professional, helpful, I cannot praise them too highly. When I asked for BBC on my room TV, someone was thoughtful enough to make it BBC 1 Scotland and BBC 2. So I feel at home as well as on holiday.

We just stayed when passing through Nice for 2 nights in May 2013. We were independent travellers on our big Europe OE and had a couple of bags in tow. Easy transfer from airport via bus and a short pleasant 10 minute with bags walk from bus stop. Close enough to walk to major attractions. Easy walk to modern shopping, castle hill, markets, old town, and eateries. We did walk to train station when we left and it was a brisk 35 minute.
Lots of eateries close by, area felt safe. Room nothing flash at all but clean and adequate and for the money we felt good value.
Would stay again for a quick stop over, but wouldn't rate it as a romantic getaway - you have to pay a lot more in Nice for that!
Staff were particularly helpful and pleasant and spoke very good english which was a bonus for us. We did not eat at the hotel but their breakfast did not look inspiring - you are better off going down the street a door or two or go to the markets :-)
