“Location, location, location!”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

My mom and I stayed at the Hotel Regence for 5 nights in May of 2014. Our first floor room was incredibly spacious, with two double beds, a wardrobe, desk, and view into a quiet "courtyard" (read: not much of a view at all, but plenty of sunshine in the morning). The bathroom was spotless and there was plenty of room for multiple people to get ready in the morning. This hotel is worth the rate simply due to the location. You are walking distance to the promenade (and beaches), Castle Hill, and Vieux Nice. We did not have a problem walking to and from the train station (Nice Ville), but would not recommend it with luggage as there was plenty of people at all times of the day.

Our only complaint during our stay was that the door from the breakfast room (which was located right outside of our room) was very squaky and loud. We mentioned this to the lady at the front desk on our way to dinner and it was fixed upon our return. Seeing as this was around 9:00pm we were impressed with how quickly our minor issue was resolved.

We found the breakfast pricey with little selection. It was an easy walk to the Monoprix for a much more nutritious meal at the same price. One thing we did appreciate was the option to purchase a coffee from the "breakfast bar" at the hotel for a quarter of the price of any local cafe.

The proximity of this hotel to major attractions and the train station will keep us coming back to the Hotel Regence!

Claimed to have free wifi in my hotels.com reservation: wifi is not free and is a minimal fee of 1 euro for 24 hrs per device (there are tools available to share the wifi from one device, that was useful). Wifi signal was too weak and I could only connect from the lobby, even though there were no mention that wifi would not be available in my room (106). When I went to the employee at the reception desk, they weren't really helpful and had the attitude that as long as you get wifi in the lobby, everything is working fine... Lobby has comfortable chairs and a few coffee tables, so at least they have that going.

Apart from that, room is fairly small, we had two adjoined twin beds rather than a double like stated in the reservation so that wasn't very romantic but at least we had plenty of room to sleep so we got that going for us.

Bathroom is ok.

We had a "chambre supérieure" at 100 euros a night.

Stayed here for a week in June 2014. The accommodation was first class and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was traditional French and service great. It was our first time staying here and we will certainly return.

The hotel located on a lively street awhich was perfect for our three nights stay. The room was small but very clean with air condition. Our room was located on third floor which reduce the street noise

If you are looking for a quite place, well considering the location of this hotel you might not like it. But it work just perfect for us

Situated on a nice street and well located. To get here from the station walk down the tram line until the big square and turn right. Otherwise get the tram one stop to massena. It isn't striking and I would say it is a two star. The room we had was really small and left little room to move anywhere. We were facing the street but with the window closed there was no noise. Breakfast was just bread and croissants with coffee/tea and juice. They charge 1 euro for the internet per 24 hours. There is a free safe. No shower stuff. Nice spar down the road turn right. Get some lovely wine while you get ready for the evening. Wouldn't return but pretty decent value for money and you can get a good nights sleep.

This hotel is in an excellent location. It is clean and the staff was helpful. The small rooms are typical European size hotel rooms. It is a budge hotel.
Upon arriving in Nice, we parked our car in a parking garage and walked with our luggage to check in (the street the hotel is on is a pedestrian street). We then left to return the car. You do leave your key each time you leave- I'm hoping the copy of your id they took is used for a picture to give you your room key- but I don't know. The front desk was helpful getting a shuttle to the airport. We ate breakfast at a bakery down the street to the left. The wifi was 1 euro per device per 24 hours.
The walking tour from the information center held on Saturday is excellent!

Excellent location within walking distance of the shops, bars/restaurants, promenade, the old village, tram, and the airport bus. While our hotel room was small, it was very clean and quiet (no traffic noise). Wifi costs 1euro per 24 hours but lots of nearby cafés/bars with free wifi. Staff are very helpful. We would definitely return here again because of its great location and value for money.
