Hotel Cresp us a lovely hotel in a real central location of the old town of Nice. The owners are fabulous, friendly and always on hand with any queries you nay have. Sadly we were in a room on the pedestrian area and boy was it noisy. If it wasn't voices from below it was the bin men followed by the pavement washers. It's not helped that the rooms have no blackout bar a net curtain so it's always bright, whether it's the light from the streets followed by the sun coming up it's not the best of nights rest. Saying that I would return but not in the front rooms.

Room Tip: Avoid a room overlooking the street, get a room away from the pedestrian area.

Stayed here for a couple of nights at the start of our summer holiday - what a fab place! The hotel is on the third floor of a large, old building in the Old Town, accessible by a lift (of sorts!). There are 17 rooms all on the one level and along the one corridor running from the front to the back of the building; the corridor leads to a lovely rooftop terrace at the rear which overlooks the main promenade and beach - perfect for evening drinks while you watch the world go by! If you turn right as you leave the hotel you're steps away from the main market place in the old town. It couldn't be in a better position to experience all that Nice has to offer! We had room 5 - a large room with a high ceiling and a mezzanine floor which meant it could accommodate the four of us. The room was spotless, modern (great shower room), comfortable and well equipped (including air-con and free wifi). The owner spoke good English, was really pleasant and I'm sure would have helped with anything we needed. Assuming we head back to Nice one day, I'll not look further than this hotel - it was perfect!

Room Tip: There are a couple of rooms at the front which lead straight on to the rooftop

What I read in the other reviews is true : the entrance is hard to find, then you walk up the stairs for 3 floors (the lift just scared us) in a very, very old building, but when you get to that 3rd floor, you enter a nice place, obviously renovated, with clean rooms and bathrooms. The terrace is very nice, with a good view over the beach. No five stars, definitely, but a good value for the price.

Anyone who judges Hotel Cresp by its exterior is just being fussy--and also has probably never lived in a city before! It is on the third floor, but there is an elevator! Entry involves three keys (for initial entry into the building, then to access the wing that the hotel is on, and of course, for one's room) so it feels very secure! The building may be in need of some repairs, but it is certainly far from falling apart, and our room was bright, tidy, and clean.
The proprietors were extremely friendly! They never hesitated to give advice. They worked around our awkward sleep schedule, in terms of tidying the room during the day. Greatest of all, they gave a polite knock at the door to offer some cough drops for my companion, who unfortunately had a cold. How sweet is that?!
The location of the hotel is simply spectacular. It is one minute off from the nearest public beach. It is within a very short walking distance of the Parc de la Colline du Chateau, which is gorgeous. There are tons of great restaurants and corner shops in the vicinity. Everything you could want!
I wish that this place were rated higher! It met all of our needs (clean, safe, great service, amazing location) for an incredible price! We would definitely stay at Hotel Cresp if we ever make it back to Nice!

Room Tip: We stayed in Room #3. We benefited from a balcony, as my companion is a smoker. The view from the ro...

Stayed for 3 nights at this hotel. loved the location from the balcony you have a great sea view, plenty of restaurants, shops and easy walking distance to the old town and transport. Our room was spacious just some street noise at times, The hotel owners were great made to feel welcomed from the time we arrived, and were also very helpful, really lovely ladies. Will use this hotel again.

We have stayed here twice now, & will certainly be back. It is our little home away from home. Reina & Marion are lovely, warm & welcoming hostesses, making you feel like you are in their home & one of the family. They are attentive & helpful with all your requests. It is a shabby old place, full of European character, kept clean & proud. In the process of being renovated & updated, it is a perfectly located, unexpected gem, & we thank the ladies wholeheartedly.

Room Tip: Let the gorgeous ladies know your requests & be open to character.
