We stayed at the Hi Hotel between 27th of July and 3rd of August. The room was 'white on white' (48) with the surprise of a private terrace which included a Jacuzzi. Great for an evening bottle of wine when the boys were asleep. The room was a good size even with an additional double mattress for our kids. A couple of the edges of the bed proved to be tricky but some carefully placed towels resolved that issue. Air con was a god send!

The staff were amazingly friendly and when we had a small issue with not being able to close the electric shutters they came and resolved the problem within minutes.

The rooftop pool was a winner with our boys. They got to splash around and watch the aeroplanes coming into Nice airport. We enjoyed a proper suntrap too.

Location wise it was a 10 minute stroll to the beach with plenty of boulangeries for morning coffee and croissants. A cute little park across the road was great for burning off some energy and meeting some lovely locals.

We didn't get to eat in the hotel because the menu was a bit limited for my vege wife but it did look good.

The Hi beach was a good spot. I thought it was expensive but 17 euros a day appears to be about average for the private beaches. Again the staff were helpful and friendly. We did eat here and it was probably the best food we ate in Nice.

We would stay again but probably for 2-3 nights and then onto the old town if staying in Nice again.

Thank you Hi hotel. All credit to you for doing something different and succeeding.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for a terrace and ask for room 48.

My sister and I were stranded in Nice during the super fun French rail strike. We had been using the private beach associated with this hotel for the past few days and really enjoyed it so when we needed accommodations for 1 night we found this hotel on Booking.com for a decent price. Plus, the website said we could use the private beach, which we were going to do anyway. Upon arrival we were offered a welcome juice, which was nice.

When we got to our room we were initially pleased, as it was clean, bright and cool. However, we soon realized that it wasn't very functional. The bathroom offers zero privacy, which is fine if you're traveling with a spouse, but otherwise it's a tad awkward. You can see/hear everything. Also, when you brush your teeth or wash your face, you have to try really hard not to crack your forehead open on the little shelf located just above the sink. Additionally, there is a "totem pole" of power outlets which are the ONLY outlets in the entire room. So you can't charge your phone by your bed, or use a hair styling tool anywhere in the vicinity of a mirror. Good luck curling your hair without a mirror.

We wanted to use the beach so we went to the front desk and they informed us we would get a discount, although the website didn't mention that there was a charge for it. It clearly stated that other things had additional charges, but not the beach. It said, "Guests can use the private beach." One of the motivating factors in booking this particular hotel was the use of the private beach. If I had known, I would have stayed at a cheaper hotel and just paid to use the beach as we had been doing all week. That being said, we went to use the pool (for free) and found it was dirty and the size of a hot tub. We ended up paying to access the beach. After I checked out I called to complain and eventually received a partial credit from booking.com for the cost of the beach, and I noticed they have since changed the wording on the website.

For the price, I'd expect a little more thoughtfully designed room, even if it wasn't as chic. It's the little things you don't think about that make a hotel great. Different doesn't always equal better.

The hotel is a real destination in itself. We had room 54, themed 'White & White'. It's very clean, light and airy. There are a number of awesome features, including a bath tub actually big enough for me, freestanding in the room. Amazing, comfortable raised bed. Small outside area. Coffee facilities. No shower - bath only. The hotel is showing a bit of wear and tear, especially the roof terrace, which needs overhauling, but the modern concept and decor appealed to me very much, and overall I was very impressed indeed.

Room Tip: Room 54, white&white - lovely room. Bath only, no shower. Very large, very original. Loved it.

There's not much more to say. The rooms are, as many reviewers say, unique.

Location was good. Easy train and beach and old city access.

The "pool" is an oversized hot tub. The day I stayed there was a party the evening before and toilet paper was strewn about the top and pool - wasn't cleaned by 4pm.

In looking back, I travel a lot and like nice hotels. While this was an interesting diversion, it's not one I'd take again.

My room faced the road It was decorated in blue and berry (purple). It had a very small cupboard (made of thick blanket material), a desk with built in shelves and a glass fish bowl. The bed was comfortable.
The toilet bowl and hairdryer were in one cubicle while the shower was in another cubicle on the opposite side of the room. The bottles of shower gel and shampoo were on the bathroom floor. both the toilet and shower room had no roof/cover. The lower half of the doors were covered with a translucent film.
Nice environment though the new concept in decoration was strange to me.

Room Tip: Near to the beach and within walking distance to the train station
