Staff here are very helpful and friendly. We got a room designed with disabled access so it was a very generous size, as was the bathroom. The shower was a bit timid and would be too low for someone more that 5f 7! It was quite dark as it was on the ground floor but it was away from the street and very quiet. Overall this is a good value, no frills hotel with nice staff in a good central location.

We only stayed here for one night but was pleased with all this charming hotel had to offer. Ideally situated within walking distance of all local attractions.Car parking is a problem in the streets, however it is not too far from payant car parking, 24 euros for 24 hours. The room was large and comfortable with no noise and the bathroom was very clean and modern with very efficient air conditioning. The upstairs roof terrace was overlooked but nicely furnished, somewhere to sit for an hour with a good book. Our only disappointment was the breakfast, which did not prove good value for 11 euros. The staff were always kind and helpful and Nice is a great place to visit, be sure to take the "petite train" around the city.

We booked our stay at this hotel because the reviews were so positive. I guess that we must have checked into the wrong hotel!!!!!. Our room was very small, and the shower if that is what you call it was so small you could barely get in it. The towels looked like rags and no face cloths. Front desk informed me that people in France do not wash their faces with face cloths, I could go and buy a sponge if I wanted to. The carpets were dirty and the room was so small we didn't even have a place to put our bags down. We checked out the next morning. We also booked a tour out of the hotel and I know that when the driver picked us up the front desk person made it a point to tell him that we were unhappy. So you can guess what she really said.

Although our room was a little small, we had everything we needed and being located at the rear of the hotel we were not bothered at night by noise from the street, although it did seem quiet outside anyway whenever we were out late. It is very centrally located but also quite tucked away. The airconditioning was very responsive - a great relief after a hot day outside and the staff were brilliant, being very pleasant and helpful. We could hear some noise at times from adjoining rooms, but this was only occasionally and was not really a problem.
If you're not looking for an overwhelmingly fancy hotel with all the trimmings of room service and swimming pools, but want somewhere clean, bright and brilliantly located for the Promenade des Anglais, the old town and the station, then this is a good choice.
There is no car parking offered here, but we found we could walk to most places and the bus service is very efficient and amazingly cheap (don't forget to validate your ticket though on the machines on the buses). We understand that parking in the street is available outside normal working hours and we also heard that there are weekly tickets available in the car parks, one of which is also very close by. The railway station is also within walking distance.
The breakfasts are very good if you don't want to venture out to a local cafe first thing in the morning and there are a whole variety of restaurants and shops within easy walking distance. The boulangerie on the corner is great for club sanwiches and rolls (try their specials with olives in the bread) and there is a handy shop, also in the street, which sells cold drinks, fruit etc. Of the many restaurants we ate at (and there are lots) we liked La Coupole, Boros (very close to the hotel), La Pizza and Milos - in no particluar order! But there are so many more...Once you have had dinner, try a walk along the Promenades Anglais and enjoy the various street entertainments. The flower market is a great place to stroll through - it doesn't only sell flowers - and it also becomes a great place to eat out at night when the restaurants spill out across the area where the stalls are during the day.
Les Cigales is only a few minutes from the beach, and though stony, it seems to consist of the 'right size' of pebbles so as not to be too uncomfortable. The hotel has a pot by the front door with some beach mats and parasols that you can borrow, but if others have beaten you to it and they've all gone by the time you get there, they can be hired on the beach.
We also enjoyed sitting on the roof terrace - it didn't bother us that it was overlooked as the buildings around added interest - and it was a cool place to sit outside in the shade.
Train excursions can include Monaco (buses also go there but the last one back leaves quite early so watch out) and Grasse, home of the fragrance industry. The airport bus also runs close by on the Promenade des Anglais (get off at Rue de Congress - each bus stop is named and there are maps displayed on the buses over the side windows so it's easy to work out where you are). Cannes and Antibes are also within reach.
It can take a little while to get your head round Nice as it is noisy, busy and quite 'full on.' However, once you've got the feel of the place, it's great and we found Les Cigales to be a perfect base. We had a very enjoyable week there and came home feeling like we'd had a really good holiday. A big thank you to all the staff who made us so welcome.

I visited this hotel 5 nights with my wife and a 3-years-old daughter. We had great service right from the beginning. They told us good places where to go with the map and personnel were always smily and nice. They were very nice to my daughter too. Only a man in a night shift was little bored and quiet but it did not change overall picture of the hotel service.

Room was small with very basic look, mut it was always extremely well cleaned up. That was great! Location was very good and all the markable places were near. Street where hotel located was quiet and there were bakery, restaurants and small groceries shop just few metres away.

Hotel had an elevator too. So it was easy to move with stroller.

Price was about 120 euros / night. So it was not very cheap but I quess it is ok, because in Nice hotels are not cheap in general.
