“Great location”
Reviewed 14 July 2009

Room was smallish, but certainly big enough for a few nights - bathroom had shower, bidet loo and sink - clean and towels changed every day if you wish. Staff friendly and helpful - although you have to vacate room by 11am on last day they are very accommodating about storing your luggage until you need to collect it for return trip home.

Location is amazing - so close to main shopping street, lovely parks, old town, old port and sea front. Great value therefore if you are prepared for basic yet comfortable accommodation - though if you want to have windows open at night be prepared to sleep through a lot of street noise. If you can cope with the sound of the fan, then that is a quieter option.

was in Nice for the Ironman june 09. booked this hotel many months before. this hotel was very good for us and this event. it was so close to everything for the ironman; the promenade and expo. the hotel were great about storing the bike. also offering a VERY early breakfast to ironman atheletes on race day. we had a balcony room - think its worth requesting one of these.- as rooms are compact (though tidy and clean) this gave extra space to sit outside and enjoy the time. the staff were lovely and very welcoming. The breakfast was roll/croisant/orange juice/hot drink all served with a smile.its on the 98 bus route from the airport. for a 4 euro day pass. great for all the restaurants, shops and beach. we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay in this hotel. very well located to enjoy Nice on foot.

Stayed here for a few nights in early June. The location really is great, anything you need is walking distance, old town, beach, bus station etc. We also had a great western facing (small) balcony that was very pleasant to sit out on in the early evening.
The rooms are small and the amenities basic, our bathroom was particularly tiny. Its a little rough around edges, ie needs a lick of paint here and there, but it is good value.
Breakfast is basic bread, coffee, croissant. The walls are incredibly thin but we only heard one next door neighbour. Good option to use if you'd rather save your money to buy one of the lovely yachts in the harbour...

As other have written, this older, small hotel offers walking distance to Old Niece, sea, train station, etc. The beds are on the hard side, there is no A/C, the bathrooms are terribly tiny, but the continental breakfast (5 Euro if not included), friendliness of staff and overall cleanliness makes up for the short comings. If you're on a budget and plan to only sleep in your room, then I don't think you'll be disappointed. Manage your expectations; this is a one star hotel with a great location. Also, this hotel is pet-friendly.

The hotel was in a great place.
Rooms in hotel were a bit small but been in smaller, we found it spotless. Breakfast was basic but enough to get you up and out for the day.
We love Nice and the weather certainly helped although rather pricey, but where isn't at the moment.
Loads to do and plenty of places to visit on the bus (1euro for anywhere you wanted to go). The surrounding area like Antibes, Ville Frenche,
St Paul de Vence and many others beautiful.
All in all a lovely short break.
Would recommend the hotel but just be aware it is quite small

The hotel and the staff were very nice, it was very basic but that is just what we wanted to spend more time out and about exploring Nice and surrounding areas the room were very small and the bathroom was tiny no room to move at all.
The hotel is in a great location, near to the beach, shopping centres and the train station is about a 15min walk.
we had a great time in nice and the hotel was lovely and just what we needed for a cheap weekend break, if that’s what you are looking for a would recommended this hotel.

Upon arrival there was a warm greeting from the receptionist, who spoke good English. The spiral stairs that run around a central lift are a distinctive feature of the hotel.

My room was on the fifth floor. It was an average size with a comfortable double bed. The bathroom was spotless, yet tiny and would be less ideal if two people were sharing the room.

Breakfast is a clinical operation...a tray with glass of orange juice, a basket with croissant and piece of French bread...and...choice of tea, coffee or hot chocolate.

The hotel's best feature is its location: only a five-minute walk to the central bus station and ten-minutes to Nice Ville train station. The old town is a short walk, whilst the beach is between 5-10 minutes away.

Overall, I would recommend Hotel Acanthe as a place to stay in Nice, especially for younger travellers (like myself) and those on a budget, who want a clean place to base themselves...no frills.

In Nice…
The central bus station provides travel to a range of local destinations. The village of Eze and grander landscape of Monoco are certainly worth a look!
