“Worst hotel ever”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2009

We arrived at this hotel on Fri night at 10.30pm and on arrival notice there were 4 guests stuck in the lift. The man on reception seemed to be doing little to sort out the situation or to assist two teenage girls who were family members of those stuck in the lift.
On trying to check in we were told we didn't have a room as it had flooded during that morning and we had been moved to a different hotel. I asked why I had not been informed during the day if they had known since that morning but he just shrugged his shoulders. He then said he would arrange a taxi to take us to hotel kent. We didn't even get out of the taxi at Hotel Kent as it was soooo dingy and dirtry looking from the outside so we asked the taxi driver to return us. The people were still in the lift on our return and the teenage girls were quite stressed by this stage. We offered to buy some water that they could pass through the gap in the lift - they were very grateful as it was very hot and the hotel man had not even thought to do anything for them. During this time another guest came from his room complaining the door didn't lock. We were still trying to get a room and told him that the one they had sent us to was completely unnaceptable. He was again most unhelpful telling us we should have stayed at the kent. I asked him had he seen the state of it and he replied he had never even heard of it before today! We had specifically booked this hotel despite some bad reviews because of its proximity to the beach and the kent was not even close by. After being there for approx 2 hours and also speaking to the manager on the phone (after demanding to do - he was even more unhelfpul than the man onreception and didn't want to know about the problem. He had never seen the Kent either!) he eventually found us a hotel nearby. Never where we offered any apology for what had happened - he just kept denying any fault. I realise he can't help if the room flood (although it seems the general maintenance is very poor) but the way it was handled was extremely poor! He also never bothered to put a sign on the lift until about 2 hours after the people managed to get out so myself and my husband had to keep directing guests away from it or there would have been several other guests stuck also.
We never actually saw the rooms so can't comment but the reception was awful and well overdue of a serious facelift. As I mentioned, elevator was broken, rooms flooded and keys didn't work......

VERY POOR HOTEL WITH EXTREMELY RUDE STAFF! DO NOT STAY HERE

The hotel has a great location only one block from the sea and only 2-3 blocks from the old quarter. We had 2 rooms, both of which were quiet and cool. The rooms are clean but not luxurious. The staff was very helpful and nice. I would return to the hotel.

I'd read mixed reviews of this hotel but a lot talked about the noise this hotel lets in and the lack of air con... they were right, we stayed there in June the weather was quite warm and because there was no air we had to open the windows which let in all the noise, traffic, music, people in the bar downstairs.

The room was a good size, the bathroom was old and didn't feel clean, The location was awesome and for the price which was a lot less than the hotel across the other side of the park it may have been ok.

The noise really runined it for us and for that reason I would not reccommend the hotel.
The decore was old and tired, when they spoke of Provincial styling I had wonderful thoughts but the decor was worn and not in that retro romantic way.

The front desk was helpful when we were trying to find our way around. close to the metro line which takes you right up to the train station, wish we'd known that when we arrived. Don't know about breakfast, I could smell it but couldn't find it.

Just footsteps from the beach, shopping, and a large aray of restaurants. If I'd been able to get a good nights sleep I'd recomend the hotel.

Stayed here for a romatic valentine's weekend with the hubby. I had previously stayed at the grand Le Meridien hotel opposite and can safely say that Albert Premier was extremely good value for money as it cost much less and was not that inferior to Le Meridien. It was also in the same central location that is close to markets, restaurant, the ocean, tourist hot spots. As it happened, the weekend we were there was also the weekend of the carnival and again, Albert's location was extremely prime as the parade ran through the street outside the hotel. There were several theme park equipment setup in the public gardens just outside for the carnival and the Albert offered premium views of these as well as the sea.
Would I stay here again? Absolutely yes - for the price and the location.

This hotel, as others have said, is all about location - 15 mins walk from the train station, or two tram stops, airport bus just outside the door. Convenient for the old town, beach and the infamous Gallerie Lafayette and grazing in Rue Massena.

Could do with a make over for sure and the lift was out of action for two consequetive nights, but we did get the high floor we asked for, a bath and a balcony.

Bed was comfortable, request for another pillow was ignored, breakfast too expensive, would I recommend the hotel? Yes!

Probably in full season it would be a nightmare, but be prepared to walk stairs and bring ear plugs!

I stayed at the Hotel Albert after making a last minute decision to switch from the Hotel Boscolo Plaza and I was not disappointed. I paid $89 USD a night and had requested a high floor with a sea view. When I arrived - I may have been the only person there, but needless to say I was put in room 607 - which must have been their best room, because it was amazing. The balcony was a wrap around with a view of all of Nice. From one end you see the town, from straight across you face the Hotel Boscolo, and from the other end you see the Meridien Hotel and the Med. sea, not to mention the beautiful garden right infront of you filled with palm trees!!! The staff was very friendly and helpful. The bus 98 from the airport took 5 minutes to get to the hotel and drops you off right infront of the hotel. You are about 2 steps from the beach and from shopping and from the old city. It was perfect and was such a great rate for the room. I highly rec. this place. Also the weather in Nice couldnt have been nicer. It was sunny everyday and in the 50's / 60's. A little bit cold at night. This is their off season so it was nice not having any of the restaurants/stores crowded. All in all Hotel Albert gets 5 stars in my book!

Stayed two nights at Albert 1er in October. The best thing about the hotel is the location. It is roughly 2 minutes walk to the coast and also easy to get to from the airport. The bus stop is 30 seconds away if you catch the bus 98 from Nice Airport with a 4 euro day pass ticket. The main attractions are within easy walking distance especially the old town and hill viewpoint.

Initially, the hotel had not received our booking but fortunately were able to look it up and provide us with our room. The sea view rooms with balconies are very good with excellent views of the coast and airport runway in the distance.

Did not try the hotel breakfast, but was 11 euros each, seemed a bit pricey. The rooms were of a decent size with tv - only 2 English news channels, the rest European. Hairdryer and good shower/bath. I read a review about bed bugs and have to say that I did wake up on the second morning with attractive red itchy marks all over me.

All in all.....if you want cheap(ish) accommodation by the standards of the neighbouring hotels which are directly on the seafront, this is not a bad choice. It is literally just off the seafront. Staff very friendly. Definately opt for a seaview room on the top floor if you can.
