“Bed bugs!”
Reviewed 31 July 2014

We certainly did not enjoy our stay in hotel baccarat. We are two young girls doing a europe trip and felt uncomfortable around the staff Especially this one guy possibly the owner. One time he was staring at the front of ny shirt for quite some time saying that he just wanted to read what is written on my shirt. Another time he wanted to take us by car into the old town which is just a 5 minute walk away. The central location near the train station and the free champagne are actually the only good things we found about that hostel.
When we arrived we checked into the 12-bed dorm, where our beds were not made until about 7pm. The next morning we woke up and saw a bed bug crawling over the pillow. According to mouth droppings in the hallways, we were not the only room
With bed bugs. The good thing was that we were upgraded to a twin bed room apparently the best room in the hotel. In exchange we were not to tell the other people in our room about the bed bugs, just telling them that there was a problem, which we ignored of course and told them the truth. The new room was not that much better though: ripped curtains, dirty showers, hair everywhere on our towels and bed sheets and we found a cherry in our drain. Dirty also described the kitchen. It felt like nobody knew how to clean. In a stack of plates i did not find one entirely clean plate. Pots and pans were mainly broken and 8 stoves were definetely not enough for the shared kitchen of two hostels.
We were just glad that we only booked two nights, because the hostel gave us a hard time enjoying Nice.

Great experience overall, welcoming staff, and clean. A hostel that changes the sheets and gives you fresh towels everyday is a huge plus! Only downside of sharing one shower with 6 other people, but it ended up not being a big problem. Check this place out for a great deal.

This is a good hostel, well kept, clean and friendly. The staff were friendly. I stayed in a 6 bed room, with an ensuite. There is aircon in the room if you need it. There were 3 bunks, and each bunk had 2 lockers underneath for security. There is a kitchen, computer room, hangout areas, a courtyard. There is good wifi on each floor.
The hostel is extremely close to the train station (there are a few different ones though so make sure it's the right one). I came from the airport, which required a bus to the station and a walk. It's not far from the beach, maybe a ten minute walk down a nice strip of shops.
Overall a lovely stay.
(I would recommend day trips from nice, either to ville-franche-sur-mer, les antibes, cannes or monacco. all are easy to get to, and i spent most of my time not actually in nice. Though Nice is lovely too.)

Hostel baccarat was one of the best hostels I've ever seen. It's very clean, and the reception feels like a hotel. The atmosphere is also amazing. Every 2 nights or so there is "spaghetti night" where all the guests come together for €3 unlimited pasta, wine and popcorn. It might not sound Ike much but it really gives travellers a chance to mingle and have a cheap feed. The facilities are also really great and there's heaps of space. The location is also great, being so close to the train station and an easy walk to the beach, shops and a supermarket. This hostel greatly contributed to my enjoyment of Nice. Worth every cent!

This hostel is a great location, less than 5 minutes walking from the main train station and about 10-15 minutes to the town center. The staff is extremely helpful and very friendly. Dan, one of the staff members, even gave us a free bottle of champagne one night! The rooms are nice and towels are provided. The hostel has a great atmosphere, it was busy every night with people meeting and talking. There is a nice patio area and a full kitchen as well as a few "chill out rooms" that are very nice. Every other night they do a spaghetti and wine dinner for 3 euro, all you can eat. It's pretty decent food and you can't beat the price. Would definitely stay here again, great for backpackers!

This is a good hostel for students- the 3 euro pasta nights were a great way of meeting other young people. The 'chill out room' was excellent for having evening parties in too and the owner even provided some free champagne! The rooms themselves are ok- the blankets needed washed and smelt a bit musty and my friend's sheet had 'interesting' white stains! I was in a room of 12 and the bathroom only had 2 showers so bathroom sharing was quite hectic. There are no lockers in the rooms and whilst I personally didn't have a problem, I heard that someone's bag had gone missing in another room during my stay so I wouldn't leave any valuables there. Good cooking facilities, very near to the station, a supermarket and about 15mins walk from the beach. I probably wouldn't go back but It's good for a few fun nights in Nice, particularly if you're a student. If you're looking somewhere quiet it's not the place for you.

Arrived here to stay with a few friends just last week. Was just across from the main train station and close to a super market.

We were just meant to stay here for 2 days and decided to book an extra night because we enjoyed it so much!

We stayed in an 8 bed mixed room and met some lovely people. There was a kitchen and a common area for everyone to use and was a great way to meet people.

Our towels were changed daily and our room cleaned. The staff were very nice and very helpful. There was a curfew from 3 am which is acceptable! We had no trouble sleeping and had a safe time here.

The wifi was a bit slow in some places but they offered free use on computers for as long as we needed.

Would recommend it to anyone! For the price we paid it was the best hostel by far :)
