This was a lovely hotel with incredilbly friendly staff who made our stay fantastic.
We walked into the hotel without reservations we were quoted a price that we thought was too expensive.. so we whipped round the corner and booked online for €70 cheaper than they had quoted.

Despite being quite noteably not as affluent as other residents of the hotel we were treated wonderfully, i especially like the tour we were given around the hotel on arrival.

Our room was large, spacious and decorated in a minimalistic style. I especially liked the Bose television, but was taken aback by the number of america channels that were on offer.... get some UK channels on there( not that you should watching tele whilst on holiday!).

The only thing that the hotel lacked was any real atmosphere.

stayed at the palais in nice for a few nights in the beginning of july. a more modern hotel but dont let that concern you. service is excellent, rooms were spacious with nice balcony, comfortable beds, satelite tv, etc. good breakfast if you can get it included, otherwise there are lots of small cafes around the hotel. the hotel is ideally located, across from the beach and a short walk to rue d'antibes where you'll find lots of shops and restaurants. i highly recommend this hotel.

The Palais is a nice average hotel in its class, but nothing special.

When we arrived at 1pm we were told that the room was not ready, but would be in 45 minutes. We knew that check in is at 2 so thought no problem. We were sent to the bar (very pretty but Hot ,It was mid July, and no airconditioning in the bar). Ordered what turned out to be very over priced drinks 13 Euro for a small mojito that did not have any taste of rum.

Went back down to the front desk after 2pm and still the room was not ready.

After asking 3 times over the next hour the room was finally available. No explaination given why it was not ready.

The rooms are clean and of a good size ( we had a sea view) but nothing special . Airconditioning in the room was very efficient . Do not know why people enthuse about the Bang & Olafsun TV..it works like any other (just costs too much) I prefer Sharp Aquos! Soundproofing was not as good as expected as the room above must have had a footballer staying there as they constantly ran around and played ball (even at 2am!) We talked to the hotel about this but they did nothing. One night there was a hen party and they made alot of noise from 230 until 4am right outside our bedroom door.

There is an automatic mini bar with no chance of using it to keep a bottle of water cool. DO NOT EVEN TOUCH IT>>THE PRICES ARE OUTRAGEOUS>

Finally, there are no drawers to actually put your clothes into (unless you use the one drawer in the night table) For a week stay at a hotel I had to ask for a ridiculous amount of hangers (they did provide them)

The hot and cold water does fluctuate in the shower but not too badly.

Breakfast is hit and miss with horrible service. We ate outside every day on the terrace, but never ate the scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage. It was not cooked well and not kept to temperature. The cold selection was very nice and generous though.

Getting a cup of coffee or salt was another matter. We would sometimes (over 1 week 5 days out of 7 days) have to ask at least 5 times (once 7) and wait for up to 45 minutes for one cup of coffee and then beg them for a small pot. Salt was so hard to come by that we ended up bringing small packages from a local deli to the breakfast table!

The pool was a the real reason we picked the hotel and it was very pleasant (but get there early in the day or you will have no place to sunbathe as it is a very small area.

The sea in Nice is just too dirty to swim in.
The loction of the hotel is perfect as it is on the Promenade and 5 minutes walk from Vieux Nice.

We just returned from a 2-night stay. The location was great, the staff was friendly and the property was new and very "chic." Breakfast served on the poolside terrace overlooking the sea was included with the room rate- that was a nice touch!

I organised a business conference for 60 people here and the hotel impressed everyone!
The hotel were a bit unhelpful with the organisation in advance but once we arrived they were very helpful and accommodating. The food is expensive but lovely. The location is perfect, right on the beach and in walking distance to the old time. Newly refurbished, very clean and nicely decorated. Bedrooms lovely and terrace and view fantastic - would highly recommend.

I am probably a very picky person when it comes to choosing hotels but i was definetly impressed by this hotel! When we arrived in the door we were greated immediately by a porter who carried our bags to our room. We were then given a tour of the hotel by a reception staff member which i found very helpful and something i have not encountered in other hotels.

The room itself was clean, comfortable and defintely luxurious. We had our B&O TV, phones, free net access, balcony, as well as comfortable beds, a bathroom fully equipped with a bath and shower and a seperate toilet. When we requested extra towels and pillows they were sent to us immediately which was very good service.

We had a 'city view' and were quite worried that we would be faced with noisy traffic and an un aesthetically pleasing view of a road side, but the opposite was true. We were over looking a kind of court yard which was free from people or noise and we awoke to bird song as opposed to noise. The casino was also separate from the hotel itself and was civilised, tasteful and free from noisy customers!

The next day we had our breakfast on the third floor overlooking the med. It was included in the price which was very reasonable. The third floor itself was breathtaking, it reminded me a bit of a cruise ship with the open roof and pool and decking overlooking the sea. There was a large sitting area with smart furniture and boxed trees as well as an indoor room where one could eat breakfast.

We thought ourselves that the breakfast itself wasn't great. Although there was a big enough selection and the staff couldn't have been more helpful, the food wasn't brilliant. We had a selection of about 5 cereals which was fine as well as fuit, meat, yoghurts and crepes. The breads and croissants weren't very fresh as in they were probably bought in a supermarket and the rashers and sausages were a bit dissapointing (greasy). Besides these, one could have a perfectly substantial meal which was quite nice (maybe 3.5 to 4 out of 5)

We never ate dinner or lunch in the hotel as they were way over priced (€70 for dinner p.p) But this did not matter as there was an abundance of restaurants, cafes and bars to choose from in the Nice area. You could eat a very nice meal for about €25 -30 p.p if you chose your restaraunt carefully.

The loacation of the hotel was brilliant, directly across the road from the sea, about a minute away from most shops and maybe 5 away from the old town and flower market. The hotel did have a private beach but at €16 a day was a bit pricey.

The swimming pool was well kept, both indoor and out and there were plenty of beds to lie out on around the pool. The sauna and steamroom were also very nice and clean and i thought it was a nice touch to provide a water tank and basket of apples. The same can be said for the gym which was brand new, very well equppied and state of the art.

The reception and concierge desk were very friendly and service was first class. The only small little complaints we had were that the breakfast could have been improved to make if 4/5 star quality (although on saying that it was perfectly adequete), also the cost of meals were too expensive. The mini bar was ridiculously over priced and it seemed as it was designed to catch people out ( €5 for a bar of chocolate (kinder bueno), €7 for a quater box of pringles and €17 for a small, cheap disposable camera to name a few)

Nice itself was a nice place with lots of shops and very friendly people (weather when we were there was about 25 - 30 degrees which we didnt find too bad) I would advise exploring other parts of the coast which were more beautiful as Nice could be quite crowded.

Overall we had a brilliant holiday and would not hesitate to return.

Like the previous reviewer we arrived at 11.00am and was told that our room was not ready.

thids iwas because the Med allow you to check out as late as 12.00, so I suppose most people do, we certainy did.

We came back at 2.00pm and it still was not ready, but I think that they had given our room to someone who turned up later, but it was no problem.

when we got to our romm is was brilliant. It was at the side of the hotel, but still had a seaview from the balcony.

The breakfast was really good and plenty of choice, and all the staff we spoke to were really pleasant and helpful.

Although the hotel is REALLY POSH, it is vert laid back, and it was a fantastic experience staying there.
