The Hotel Rex is in a very central location. The owners are extremely friendly, informative and accommodating. Hotel Rex is very charming with each room individually styled and impecably clean. We were in room 9 and then room 10 each for two nights, both rooms were lovely and the price was very reasonable.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel and compared to all the other places we have stayed based on Trip Advisor reviews this was by far the worst. Walking into the stairway to the building was a very bad stench. The room itself was ok, the bed very small and not very comfortable. The worst was the shower which didn't maintain its temperature and at one stage burnt my back! Most annoying was my husband had to use my wet towel as they had only supplied one and the reception was closed! The staff at the reception were very kind and polite, but the hotel just didn't cut it.

We booked the hotel based on the very positive evaluations already given in this forum. We stayed for three nights and have no other choice than to fully confirm and underlign all the positive things which have already been said about this place:
1/ Incredible staff. The "2 Didiers" are very welcoming and helpful.
2/ Great Location: The hotel is located centrally in the pedestrian zone and we managed to do everything by foot.
3/ Cozy Hotel: the hotel itself and the rooms are nicely decorated. Rooms (and our room neighbors ) were very quiet.
4/ Room and bathrom were cleanded every day 100% w/o any remark to be made
5/ Value for money: All the above said in view of the current price level make the Hotel Rex one of the best deals in town.
I only can recommend each and everybody this hotel and hope that Didier and Didier will maintain this hidden gem "as is" for a very long time...

We stayed here two nights in late September 2010. This small quaint hotel is located near Massena Square, a great spot all within walking distance to the beach, old Nice, sites, shops and restaurants. The entrance to the hotel is a bit deceiving from the street, but once inside the courtyard, you cross a bridge to enter a beautiful place. The nicely furnished room was plenty big enough for two people with a roomy bathroom and a stand in shower with great toiletries, flat screen tv, a wardrobe closet to hang up your clothes, and free wifi. Room was immaculately clean and quiet. Never heard any noise at all. The two owners Didier & Didier were very cheerful, friendly and helpful , but what stood out was their obvious love of what they do and the attention and care they gave to their guests. I would absolutely recommend this hotel.

This is a really good place if you are lucky enough to get a room here. For the price you get about everything you get in a 200 euro/night hotel (I know because I knew someone staying in one at the same time). The value in amazing, but it's not just "very good value" it's very good, full stop! (or rather, exclamation point). Had really hot water, soft good bed, bbc tv, nice room, very secure. Location is nearly perfect in the middle of the town and a short walk to the "old town" (I recommend the "Artisan Boulengerie" bakery in the old town, best bakery ever anywhere!!). Rex is pretty amazing to come home to, turn the tv on, have a warm shower with their soap and shampoo. I seriously cannot understand anyone not liking this place. Let alone because they saw a single bug (oo ahh) once in their bed they are ready to hang someone and hate all aspects of it. Don't be put off - this place is definitely the best value i had on the whole euro trip.

Hotel Rex is by far the creepiest hostel/hotel I have ever stayed in. Upon arrival we discovered a BUG in the bed! Absolutely disgusting. Of course the manager leaves every night so we weren’t able to check out or request a different/cleaner room. Although it is within walking distance to the beach, and the décor is cute, it just isn’t worth it. We didn’t feel safe and will never stay there (or in that general area) again. My advice is to find someplace else.
