“Somewhere a bit different”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 July 2013

Took a chance with this place; wasn't keen on trying one of the depressing looking tourist traps that line the main streets of Nice. Just off the busy Rue Massena in the middle of town, it's a small restaurant that's smartly decorated (with a bit of tongue in cheek). Traditional french dishes with a bit of twist; perfectly cooked duck breast with a hint of rose (wasn't sure of this when I ordered but it worked a treat). The owner/our waiter looked after us well and suggested some good wine. This was a place to take your time and linger if you wanted to; really enjoyed it.

“A nice surprise”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2013

Our first night in Nice and the restaurant we wanted to try was closed for refurbishment. This restaurant was down a short passageway almost directly opposite the apartment we were staying in (Ajoupa) and a female employee of the restaurant spoke to us on the main street as we looked at the billboard. She showed us the fixed price menu of 14.90 Euro for two courses and we thought we'd give it a try. We were so pleased that we did and the ambience had a lovely feel. The waiter was charming and helpful with translations where required and the food was authentic and delicious. The cost for two of us including one sweet, a lovely bottle of wine and two coffees came to around 60Euro. We thought this was good value and visited again on our last evening. Well worth a visit and you won't be disappointed with the service, food and value.

“Hidden gem”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 May 2013 via mobile

Off Rue Massena, in a courtyard, is this hidden gem of a restaurant. Funky decor, friendly staff, lovely relatively simple French food. After a couple of prior disappointments over a week in France I finally had a dish of beautifully cooked duck breast with a delicious sweet sauce which I think included saffron and rose petal. (The menu was in French and we did not ask staff for a full translation of the dish names). My partner had prawns with a light but deeply flavored cream sauce. Both dishes were accompanied by a side serve of zuchini and rice containing a mediterian roast vegetable mix. The atmosphere in the restaurant was nicely laid back and it was very pleasing to experience dishes of a traditional French style with balanced vegetable and carb sides.

“Nice discovery”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 April 2013

Charming hostess Sophie directed us to try this hidden restaurant in the historic city of Nice and we were not disappointed. I had the "Salade de Chevre" ($15.00) and my partner chose the "Foie Gras" ($19.00) . Then we both shared the "Risoto du Jour" ($17.00). The service was casual but fast and effective. We promised to visit back again.
