Great hotel, located on the main shopping street, hardly 10 mins walk away from the main railway station and the promenade. The tram stations are also very close. Many fast food joints are located with 2-3 mins walking distance. The room was spacious (I had a duplex room), and nicely decorated. All the basic amenities were available. The reception staff was very polite and helpful. The only drawback was a small lift, leading to relatively long waiting period esp if you want to take your luggage. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would love to stay here again. It simply added to the whole "NICE" experience.

The room is small but the hotel is at a great location. It is close to train/bus/lightrail stops so within a few minutes walking you can get on mass transportation to get to almost any destination in Nice area. It is also a few minutes walk to the beach, the business district. Behind the hotel there are quite a few very nice produce stores (almost like farmer's market)
with very fresh fruits, vegetables and breads. We bought fruits and breads there almost every day and they were delicious.

Stay way from the rooms facing the main street. The traffic noises are quite bad.

Room Tip: stay away from rooms facing teh main street

the family duplex (sleeps 2 adults and 2 kids comfortably) was a perfect setting for this 2-night stay. Some minor detail flaws (e.g. no electric plug in bathroom, complimentary shampoo and shower gel not fully replaced) and the relatively small spaces, could be overlooked by the fantastic off-season value offer for this centrally located (only tramway, no cars in front on this busy major shopping street) yet quiet and clean hotel with friendly and helpful staff.

The hotel is a short walk from the railway station and bus office and on the tram line so it was very easy to get about. It is situated on the main shopping street so was very quiet at night. There are plenty of places to eat within a short walk too. The staff were friendly and helpful at all times. There was plenty of choice at breakfast which could be taken up until 10.30 am which meant you didn't have to rush. If we return to Nice we would definitely stay here again.

First impressions of this hotel were not good. Receptionist carried on conversation and laughter with a colleague throughout our check in, yet remained moody with residents throughout our stay. Others at reception were pleasant and helpful. No help with luggage offered and our party were given rooms on first and third floor even though we had booked early and asked for rooms together, and the hotel seemed very quiet for most of the week. Lift tiny - used the stairs most of the time - 60 steps after breakfast each day - felt quite fit by the end! The rooms were spotlessly clean and were spacious enough, though the deep pile carpet and plastic furniture didn't enhance the look. Curtains and bedding nice. Good sized wardrobe, but no drawers at all and only one very high shelf. The Breakfast Room was small and seating was really just basic style patio furniture. The variety of food offered never varied, though it was generally of good quality, but why do they serve tinned fruit? Pastries lovely. Breakfast waitress seemed overwhelmed even when the room was quiet - often no hot water, not enough crockery or cutlery, tables not tidied up after use, deep sighs and mutterings whenever she was asked for anything... Would I stay there again? Possibly, but it wouldn't be my first choice. There are other better hotels at the same price, but it was handy for the station, the shopping area, the old town and good restaurants and the prom was only a short walk away. Those who need access by car or taxi should avoid this hotel as the street is semi-pedestrianised and so you can't be dropped off at the door.

Room Tip: Rooms facing on to the pedestrian street can be noisy. Those at the back much quieter, yet still li...

The hotel is centrally placed for the shops and the coast (15 mins gentle walk). Many places to eat at night or to have coffee during the day and watch the world go by. The train station was about 10 mins away and a journey to Monte-Carlo/Monaco was reasonable at 7 euro. Finding the train station in Monte-Carlo to go back to Nice was a problem though!

The hotel staff were very pleasant and helful at all times. Breakfast menu was varied and plentiful. A return taxi to the airport was booked for us and was cheaper (35 euro) than our taxi to the hotel (38 euro). The room was kept spotless and I agree with another reviewer, drawers would have been useful.

I would love to go back as there is so much to see and do in Nice. I would certainly book the West Western again. it was a very enjoyable 4 day stay.

Room Tip: Although some may find a front facing room, it is on the main road to trams and traffic. it didn'...

The reception staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are kept very clean. The deep-pile carpet vacuumed every day. The location is excellent, on a main axis road to the square, then to the coast, so no problems finding one's way about.
However, the hotel is on a road with tram tracks, so it's semi-pedestrianised. Even though there were some older members in our group, the taxi drivers refused to take us to the hotel or even near to it, so we had to carry our luggage from the railway station to the hotel (about 15 minutes).
The lift is extremely small - two people or one person and two suitcases. Reception staff keep an eye on this to make sure the lift is never overloaded. Most of the time we used the stairs. One of the handicapped members of our group had to be accommodated elsewhere because the wheelchair was too big for the lift.
The rooms, although spotlessly clean, are small. There's nowhere to put the luggage except in the bottom of the wardrobe, and then transfer the suitcase to the bed in order to open it.
The breakfast room has got cramped seating (camping tables and chairs) for 24 people. Very few chairs can be moved away from the tables on order to be comfortably seated, so not very comfortable. Since we were a group of 27, we could never all be seated at the same time, quite apart from the fact that there were other guests there. The hard boiled eggs were always cold, and the coffee extremely strong. I like strong coffee, but had to dilute each cup with half a cup of water! The fruit salad was sweet - out of a tin, and the muesli was a mixture of cornflakes and suchlike. Not th standard one expects from Best Western. With a few exceptioins, the kitchen staff were unfriendly and overworked. There was never enough crockery or cutlery, so when the dishwasher was running, they often had to wash a few items by hand!
There isn't a room/bar where you can meet at the end of the day, so if the group leader had any instructions, these had to be relayed from one person to another during breakfast, in the hope that everybody would receive the message.
OK for one night perhaps, but certainly not for over a week.
