We stayed at Lamartine for only one night. The owner Monique was great with correspondence and checking our arrival time etc a few days prior to our check in, which is always nice and reassuring. She was courteous and gave us some info on Nice. The hotel is located about 5 min walk from the train station an as we arrived and departed by train it was a great spot for us to stay. Very close to the main shopping/pedestrian street where the tram line is also located, and a supermarket and patisserie just around the corner. Our room was on 2nd floor facing a rear courtyard. We had no issues with noise.
The major negative was that our air-con stopped working in the afternoon even though it was fine when we arrived. It stopped blowing cold air without us ever adjusting the setting and when we tried to adjust it still made no difference so we essentially had no air-con.
The small fridge in the kitchenette was handy in storing our food and cold drinks. Bathroom was clean with plenty of towels provided in case you needed them for the beach. But we were not provided with any shampoo or bath gel (only soap) which I thought were the basics of any hotel.
Our bed and pillows were very soft, which combined with the lack of a working air-con in mid July, made our sleep quite uncomfortable, esp for my husband. I think for the price (I realise Nice is expensive) of 120 euro per night, the facility could have been improved to make it better value.
