After reading reviews decided to upgrade to superior room with balcony and it was sooo worth it. Had breakfast in room (choice of healthy or hearty breakfast) - no extra charge for breakfast in room and we enjoyed the treat - with the fabulous view. (Found prices for breakfast in cafes just as expensive and not nearly as good.)There is a sculpture outside the hotel of an art deco lady in a swimsuit - which may people stop to take photos of - including us.

We had no complaints about the room or the hotel - drinks were reasonably priced in cafe and service was good. Front reception very helpful and efficient - looked after our left luggage - we enjoyed our stay at the hotel.

We would recommend the superior rooms with balcony - the balconies are small - cannot say anything about other rooms as we did not see them. We do not expect to return to Nice as we feel we have seen it all and the world is such a big place.

We booked 2 balcony rooms. Location superb and views to die for with nice size balcony. Our bathroom had a toilet you had to use side saddle as it was built into alcove with heated towel rail. Our air conditioner did not work but next room where our children slept was OK. We sit the curtain on second night and the whole track fell to the floor - only screwed into plaster with plaster screws. Went to reception and someone came up and said they couldn't fix it and have a good night! Very hard to sleep with light coming in and no air conditioner on hot night. Breakfast over priced too but then all of Nice is expensive. Front bar and coffee restaurant nice and bar man lovely.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Le Royal staying 4 nights in a renovated executive room with sea views on the third floor. Absolutely wonderful view and the room was large , air conditioned and clean. The hotel recognised our anniversary by decorating our door with balloons etc , and giving us a plate of delicious Macaroons, the use of two towelling Dressing Gowns, and a small pack of shower gels, shampoo and conditioner. Thank you Le Royal. The chief de reception is a lovely lady who went to all efforts to assist me with solving a dinner reservation problem I had made for our anniversary. For the lady tourists who require the mandatory hair treatment with trimmings you should visit Thierry Antoine Salon. Turn left from hotel , second street left then on your left 70 metres. My wife had a haircut etc and for free they gave her a mini facial.
Another tip enjoy a delightful french coffee and pastiere breakfast turn right after the salon and on your right is Chez Maitre Pierre. Went there twice and just loved it. We travelled by bus to Monaco and Cannes. Both cost €1.50 one way. The 200 bus to Cannes takes approx 1.5 hours , nice relaxing journey but catch the train upon your return 40 minutes cost €6.80 and worth it. The scenery along the way to Monaco is beautiful to say the least. Arrived at Monaco , we walked down to the Casino and had a drink ( Monaco beer and glass of Rosé €18) as we watched and dreamed - Oh to be rich! Tip: if you wish to go into Monte-Carlo Casino you will need your passport / ID and pay €10 entry fee. We leave today after a most enjoyable stay in Nice at the Le Royal.

Room Tip: Pay the extra a get a sea view room. Magnificent!

My mother and I had 4 days in Nice at the beginning of June. Perfect location for everything particularly the Med! Hotel staff could not be more helpful and friendly. Breakfast was not to our liking but fab little pavement cafe next door. We would stay here again

Checked into this depressing hotel as the end leg of our honeymoon. Was given a room with two single old fashioned beds early 80's fashion... Regardless of the fact we told them on our booking it was our honeymoon and also on check in. This hotel is old tired and run down and would be lucky to score 1 star from me... Don't let the pictures of the facade fool you. Had to struggle carrying our bags in.. No service whatsoever... We can't wait to leave this joint.

My husband and I stayed in a suite with a sea view so needless to say the view was breathtaking! The room was spacious and had recently been renovated. The bed was oversized and very comfortable. We had breakfast served to our room and everything was delicious. The location of the hotel is pretty central for getting around to the major sites.

On the downside, the food from the restaurants was mediocre. Not quite what I would have expected for the prices. The staff was friendly but the customer service was left something to be desired.

We stayed at this hotel before we went to the Monaco Grand Prix. I would thoroughly recommend it. We stayed in room 515 a city view room but i wasnt bothered about what i was looking at as we were out for most of the day. Wow the bed was the confortabliest ( if thats a word ! ) i have slept in in a while... Clearly 2 large single beds put together. All the staff where friendly and helpful and a special mention goes out to Omar ( night reception) who was exceptional.
I look forward to coming back to the hotel in the near future.

The hotel is a 15 minute walk to the station which takes you to Monaco (about 20 minutes) and to Cannes - (i would say about 40 minutes) although we didnt get tot go here there was just so much to do in Nice and of course Monaco.
This is a great base hotel and right opposite the beach, a small supermarket up the road where you can buy bread, cheese ham etc and make your own lunches as which we did. You can make teh trip as cheap or as expensive as you want.
Please feel free to contact me if you want any info. As i said would thoroughly receommend the hotel and look forward a return trip.
