“Villa Kilauea - year 3”
Reviewed 16 July 2012

Have just returned from our third, annual 2-week stay in Villa Kilauea and - greeting our lonely cat apart - am sorry to be home! Nathalie and Gerard are some of the kindest and most willing hosts I have ever come across (last year I re-strained a broken ankle whilst there and they helped out til the very last minute, including airport check-in with wheel-chair). Breakfast is a continually varying delight of home-made cakes/panna cotta/tartes, the pool is pristine with stunning views, the rooms are kept spotless and the Fragonard shampoos etc a delight. For those with children especially, the pool-room and possibility of eating snack-type lunch/dinner is a godsend, but Nathalie and Gerard's recommendations regarding restaurants are always spot on!
This year I didn't even bother to hire a car - the local bus is extremely punctual, trains to Monaco etc are very frequent and with young daughter we did not really want to be out too late. That said, you are in the town centre in 20 minutes, or up in the beautiful hills to St. Paul/Vence/Grasse/Tourette in not much more by car.
The maison d'hote concept is to be respected, and truly deserves respect! We are guests, albeit paying, in someone's home and, in this case, people who really make you feel at home. If your idea of a holiday is to wreak noisy and damaging havoc at midnight or not even greet your hosts in the morning, then please choose somewhere else!

We just returned from a wonderful 4 days at Villa Killauea, where we left feeling relaxed and pampered!
Our contemporary room had a wonderful terrace and spacious interior and only a few steps down to the the incredible communal infinity pool with breathtaking views across the neighbouring valley, mountains and castle.
Breakfast was a daily delight, offering a wide selection of handmade and local gastronomic delicacies.
Nathalie and Gérard where amazing hosts with their friendly and calming approach, catering to our every need but still allowing us peace, quiet and privacy.
We will be sure to return soon and thank you for welcoming us into your home and villas.
A wonderful family spirit with a truly modern zen approach.
All the best,
Carissa & Lenka

We stayed here for 3 nights in June with our 2 daughters. The location is a bit out of Nice, but when you have driven it 3 times, you know your way around and it takes about 15 minutes into the center of Nice. It could be a hassle if you are not comfortable with small roads, but we didn`t mind, actually we were glad to get out of the hustle and bustle in the afternoon and enjoy the peaceful and quiet atmosphere at Villa Kilauea.
Our rooms were nicely decorated and superclean ( they were done every day ), only for some reason it was always very humid in the room. Towels did not dry. I think since the room only had windows on one side the air could not circulate.
Breakfast was delicious and served either in the bright and lovely poolroom or on the patio by the pool. Nathalie baked fresh bread and cake every day and really made sure there was a different variety every morning.
The pool and patio were very clean and great for relaxing. I also have to mention their superfriendly dog Bree... My children adored her.
I found it slightly pricey considering the location out of and Nice and the room not being too large. Nathalie sometimes seemed a bit cool...( Maybe the language? )

As we will be married 30 years this year, we have chosen for a vacation in a nice and quiet region in the south of France. We went by TGV and used the train and bus for accessing other places in the coast area.
We visited Nice as we were very near to this "nice" town which we could easily reach by bus, so no parking problems at all, a cheap and convenience way !
We don't like big and noisy hotels so we were happy enjoying this beautiful B&B in an authentic and peaceful village with an amazing view on the montains.
The service was very satisfying, nice breakfast with fresh bakery from the house, good variation
Nathalie and Gerard are very nice people, always there to assist and to help you when necessary, although they respect your privacy
We were in the pink room, nice spaceful room with separate bathroom with big shower.
Everything was very clean and the pool is situated down in the garden, really enjoyable when coming back from a day trip
We surely recommend this nice and quiet B&B at the French reviera with a wonderful view on the mountains
Best regards
Noël & Martine

We want to tell you again what a lovely b&b you have, and that we appreciated not only your home, the great restaurants you recommanded, your help for directions & activities suggestions. The breakfast were wonderful, and don't forget you promised to share with me the "pain perdu" recette! The food was not only delicious, but so lovingly prepared with local and organic ingredients, and we will never forget your homemade orange wine, jams, each day different cakes, and bread.
I only wish we would return to see more country side around your location, and spend also some more time relaxing by the pool and smelling the jasmin fragrance of your garden.
We hope to come back soon to explore a bit further your beautifull French Riviera. Thank you so much for this unforgettable stay within VillaKilauea.

We spent four nights at Villa Kilauea and had a wonderful time. The location, just 10 minutes outside Nice, was perfect for sightseeing and accessing everything in the area. Nathalie was a wonderful host – she asked what we were interested in then made her recommendations. They were 100% spot on and we had the most wonderful time driving through the villages and taking in the magnificent views, particularly from Gourdon, something we may well have missed if not for Nathalie’s recommendation. Florian, the lolly factory in Pont du Loup, was also a great recommendation and we’re still enjoying the fudge and jellies! Nathalie’s recommendation of Auberge du Redier, just up the road was another winner.
We stayed in the Rose Room, a lovely big area with spacious bathroom and plenty of room to move about. The verandah, with sun lounges, would be magic in warmer weather... such a great touch when the views are so beautiful.
Breakfast in the pool room was a real highlight each morning – I’m addicted to Nespresso! The room is bright and sunny, a perfect way to begin the day.
For those of us who enjoy cities but don’t really want to sleep in one, Villa Kilauea is a perfect choice. So close to everything yet so far away from the hustle bustle of Nice.

Our frist holiday with our 6 months old daughter became a real joy with Nathalie & Gerard. Their welcome was warm and sincere as they are the perfect hosts. We got a lot of good tips to go to, too much as the vacation in Villa Kilauea is too short anyway. During the trips we looked forward to peacefull atmosphere of the B&B to hang arround, during the night we looked forward to the excellent and allways different fully selfmade breakfast of Nathalie.
A lot of things to do in Nice and surroundings, so reserve your room quick because this B&B will be on a lot of people most wantend list !!
