“Hotel Victoria, Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, France”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 August 2013

Excellent hotel located at the edge of Cap Martin and across from the beach. Location ideal for walking into Menton or to Monaco if you fancy a longer walk round the coastal pathway.

Public transport - buses and trains - located nearby.

Service excellent. Hotel very clean throughout. Parking available at an extra cost. We had to pay extra for breakfast as it was not included in our rate.

We had a very large room with a balcony overlooking the water. Air conditioning excellent.

Lots of restaurants nearby.

Room Tip: Sea view is best!

Determined not to hire a rental this time we chose this hotel as it is on the main train route from Nice St Augustin and just a 10 minute walk from the station.
The staff were excellent coping with our rusty French language and helping us in English where necessary.
The hotel was well air conditioned in the lobby and in the rooms which was much needed. Towels are available for the pebbly beach across the road but take a tip from us and walk around the point about 200 metres to a little private beach club and restaurant its worth 12 Euros a day for the comfy sunbed and access to the sea.
This hotel is a handy oasis away from what is a suburban sprawl along the bay of large and old high rise flats, common in many seaside resorts in France but these can be ignored and the train used as a great starting point to explore Monaco and beyond.
Breakfast was 12 euros per head and well laid out with fresh fruit, pastries and meats etc.
From comments heard from local restaurateurs this is the best hotel in the bay and we agree.

Room Tip: It is true our room overlooked the side road car park but actually that is the quietest side as the...

Picked this Hotel after looking for ages or something reasonable by the sea on the Côte d'Azur and fond this on The Guardian top 10. Comparatively good price when looking at other resorts. 20-25 min walk to Menton.
10euros a day for parking.
We had a junior suite with a sea view which had a super kingsize bed, blackout blinds, was quite soundproof and had a nice balcony. Make sure you get a room nearer the Menton end of the hotel to ensure a good view rather than being near the roundabout.
Rooms were modern and clean and staff were fantastic.

I stayed a week in the hotel. Really comfortable beds - for me it's one of the most important thing in any hotel. Fine breakfast. Nice design. The beach is a little bit rocky. The staff's English isn't good, but everybody is very friendly.

We ended our 10 day European trip here and spent 3 nights. First of all, follow the hotel's instructions (that we later read after we unpacked in the room) that if you drive in from the A8, do not take the Roquebrune-Cap Martin exit but go down to the Menton exit. Major fail on our part. Scenic but 45 minutes of windy roads versus a straight shot in 10 minutes from the Menton exit! Hotel faces the beach and has a cute patio in the front of the hotel where you can sit and read/drink/eat. The front of the hotel opens up to the outside (which I thought was a great design). Check-in and check-out (for us, at 4am) was quick and easy and every person we spoke to at the front desk knew English extremely well and everyone was very friendly and helpful. A shout out to Celine who spent the better half of 10 minutes on hold for us with our rent car company trying to help us figure out what to do with our car at the airport. Room was very spacious and well designed. We had a backfacing room so the view wasn't much other than you could see the mountains. Very comfortable bed and the layout of the room was perfect. The bathroom was good sized with the toilet in a different room for itself. The shower was interesting in that the shower door only partially covered the bathtub (probably should be a sliding door set up rather than a swinging door) and that if the shower head was higher than the door, you could turn on the shower, and if the head was facing outward, accidentally spray anyone that was standing at the doorway of the bathroom (which happened to us and I was not the one getting in the shower at that point!). The room was very quiet - I know the hotel was booked to capacity but I never heard anyone in the hallway or next door. The WiFi didn't work on the first day and half at all - which meant their desktop computer didn't either - despite being told it was fixed - and then when we went next door to eat at the restaurant, I was sitting up against the wall attached to the hotel and all of the sudden it connected (don't know if it was fluke or not) but then I never had any problems after that. We did have a rent car and lucked out that most of the time, we got a parking spot on the street right across from the hotel. One night we had to park about 3 blocks away in the residential neighborhood but free was better than paying, which I know the first night, the hotel did have one available spot left. The hotel is in a good location to walk to Menton and several restaurants. Also, it's semi-close (definitely walking distance but about 10 blocks) from the bus that will take you to Monaco or Nice. Side note - We took the bus into Monaco on a Saturday afternoon (the #100/#110) but just beware that we assumed the bus returning toward Menton would pick up in the same spot it dropped us in Monaco but it didn't (we couldn't find it either) so we had to take a cab back to the hotel (note - 40Euro from Monte Carlo Casino to front of hotel). Hotel is an excellent homebase if you want to explore between Monaco and Italy. We backtracked to St. Tropez/Cannes area one day and I was a little surprised how far we drove to backtrack on the A8 (guide books made it sound like it wasn't that far) so only plan to stay in this area (at this hotel for sure!) if you plan to stay around Monaco, Menton, or drive into Italy. Great value for what you get and the view and being that close to the water add value for sure!

Room Tip: Definitely ask for a front facing room if you plan to be in the room a lot but if you don't get...

We stayed in this hotel for the conference in Monaco and then we stayed after for couple of days just to relax on the sun. The hotel is perfect for the money they ask - it's the best. Big rooms, conteprorary design, fantastic view to the see, rich and tasty breakfast, nice staff. Nearby there is good italien restaurant with fantastic tiramisu. Beach is clean, wanter cristal. You can walk to the left from the hotel and see wonderful views to Monaco.
I reccomned this hotel for relaxing holidays with all entertaiment just nearby in Menton

The outside of the hotel is, well, eehh. But the room we had, facing the sea, was just lovely. You just have to cross the street and you are on the beach. The bed was verrrry comfortable, believe me, a big plus travelling in Europe. Plenty of large towels, new updated cozy bathroom and a wonderful showerhead with plenty of water pressure. Sitting on the balcony watching the moon rise over the water was just perfect. We have already made reservations to return to this hotel in June. The staff was quite lovely and helpful. I would absolutely recommend this hotel!

Room Tip: We had room 109, sea view, no trees blocking view. Perfect.
