Oh dear, i don't like leaving negative reviews but this hotel desperately needs renovating.
This is a classic case of having never spent money on the upgrading of the facilities until it gets to the point where a fortune needs to be spent. The owner was very kind and helpful but the hotel itself was not so good. If you like 'old & dated' then this is the place for you but not at the inflated prices.

We are mature and quite experienced travellers in our 50's.

Simpel hotel, which has not changed for quit some years. This is what we liked about it. The staff is very friendly and professional.

One can book a space in their garage which is very small.

The hotel is about 4 km away from the centre of Menton, and is located on the quiet part of the boulevard. Not many cars pass by. This whole area has not seen much modern development as in high rise buildings. If the guest is willing to pay for a seaview, then one will get a stunning view all along the coast towards Italy.

There is a bus stop within 2 minutes walk, which can bring you to the extreme east side of the busy Menton beach.

Our room was plain, but it had everything we needed. Fridge, good closing curtains, and blinds, comfy bed, balcony and small sitting area. Not all rooms are exactly the same. Free Wi-Fi.

We stayed here in June and already it became warm during the day, especially in the morning when the sun hits the balcony. It could be to warm in July and August. It would be real good if the hotel installs sunblinds which can be rolled down, so one can sit on the balcony in the morning.

Do not forget to make the walk around Cap-Martin to Cabbe, 1 hour, there is a train station. Cabbe has a "forgotten" beach with a few small restaurants and snackbars. Get a train time schedule so you can plan ahead. On average there is only 1 train per hour.

We liked the hotel because of its beautiful view, the quiet location and it was very affordable. Would love to come back.

Room Tip: Pay extra and get the sea view. Parking space must be reserved in advance.

This place is so great I hate to share it. But, duty calls. First of all, I love this corner of the Riviera. The Hotel Alexandra is located at the very end of the Menton beach, right at the corner of where Cap Martin starts and where the road starts winding up towards Monaco. But, in case the name "Menton" conjures up the smells and sounds of way too many motor scooters, fear not. This part of the beach is very quiet, no smell of smog, frequented by families and retirees. If you're out for glitz, this is not the place for you, although if you have a car, Monaco is a hop, skip and a jump away. The water is amazing, crystalline and calm because of Cap Martin rising up on the (is it the West?) side of the pebble beach. Great food to be had all over the place, a newspaper stand on the corner, and all the necessities of life (banks etc.) in Carnoles a few blocks away. Btw the Carnoles train station is a ten minute walk from the hotel. Now to the hotel itself. It has been partially renovated and the room I stayed in was brand spanking new. It was unbelievably clean, the bathroom was so so so nice, they even provided little toothbrushes. Awwww! I got a room with a balcony over the sea which was heavenly except for the cigarette smoke wafting in from the other guests. Breakfast was actually included, gasp! I'm not big into breakfast but it seemed to have everything you could want except a decent cup of coffee. The one big drawback of this place was the tiled floors which meant that when the lady upstairs was clomping around in her high heels I was awake. I begged and pleaded for a top story room but the best they could do for me was the third floor. The tiles are nice because of the hygiene aspect--you can never really clean carpet--but they are noisy. On the other hand the room had those double doors I like that shut out noise from the corridor. All in all I thought it was a great value in a great location and the staff were super nice.

Room Tip: Try to get a renovated room.
